As she made my dogs, a car pulled up on the other side, she stopped my prep, made them 2 dogs took the cash and a tip and then without missing a beat, went back to making mine with the same hands, then another truck came to the window and she left all 8 of my dogs sitting on the counter while she executed his transaction which was already prepared. One of my favorite hot dog spots in the country. It's a dive hot dog shop in a neighborhood house. Not much seating space, a few stools along the windows. Service is quick and efficient. The dogs are always hot and fresh. I like my dogs with everything, mustard, onions, chili and cheese whiz. They split the dog and spread the cheese in the middle. As part of the Potts/Yocco's battle I stopped into Potts' so I could make my own opinion of the topic. I will say compared to Yocco's this place is certainly better...I'm not even sure how there is a debate about this. Past that though, it felt like a fairly average dog. There was definitely more chili here than Yocco's but I still felt like it could have used more. Just a personal preference but that's how I feel. I'd have been glad to pay a little more and get more chili. The dog was good, the bun was unremarkable. The girls working the front were very friendly and there's not much to say about the aesthetic really because it looks like a house's living room turned into a grill station with a small standing area for ordering. I would come back here for sure, it absolutely Didn't Suck, but comparing them to the many dogs I've had at places in NJ and NY in my life I wouldn't put these in maybe the top 20 honestly. The hot dog, bun and price were just fine, but if you're going to offer toppings - make sure the customer knows they're there! We got one chili dog and two with bacon and cheese. The cheese and chili were like a smudge on the roll and the bacon was one strip of sadness. I prepare much better at home using Dietz and Watson all-beef franks, Martin's potato rolls and Steve and Ed's hot dog chili sauce - which is what I'll do for now on being as so many 'dog joints' are lousy. What can I say? I'm an absolute sucker for hot dogs. This is no exaggeration. I went in for the first time today and the two delightful staff members, Ashley and Alise, recommended their most popular... obviously, the one with everything. I am now extremely upset that I didn't get more than three. I literally parked right out front and almost didn't make it into the car without finishing them. That's not to say that they're small or unfulfilling, oh no, on the contrary, I just forgot to take a rest between each one. I mean think about it, I'm writing an article over a hot dog! Now, aside from the hotdog, I love how vintage or original the place looked. Hot dogs are essentially a past time, they've been around forever. You don't want to go into a place like this and the decor is futuristic while eating a good old fashion hot dog. I don't know what else to say, I'm about to bust a U-turn and head back. I'm in love with a hot dog, there I said it... I'm in love with Pott's hot dogs. For the most reasonable price they give, you get one of the best hot dogs. Now my boyfriend from brooklyn has fallen in love with their hot dogs. Don't know exactly what Pott's puts in their dogs, but they rock. Try the works, and skip the bacon and cheese dogs (unless you're into that; I'm not). I got a decent-sized hot dog atop a bed of chili, onions, mustard, and sweet relish. The dogs have bite, and the whole package is a jubilant explosion of flavor. Jubilant. To be happy, you must have three minimum. Before you worry, they're only $1.50 each, last I checked. (Toppings cost extra at Pott's. Not sure about chili.) Cash only, obviously. My 2nd hot dog place to try in the Lehigh Valley. I've been to Yocco's near the airport. Potts is a small place on a side street amongst houses. I ordered 2 dogs with everything. (OMC) onions mustard & chili. The dog itself was thick & juicy, the buns were steamed, onions chopped fine and had a tasty chili sauce with a hint of spice. All served quick. The price? My son and I were at Stabler Arena for an event and, afterwards, we set out on a quest to find a local place. Of course, I consulted Yelp and settled on Potts' Doggie Shop. I had been to Yocco's before and then came up with the idea to do a Lehigh Valley Dog Showdown between Potts' and Yocco's. Nothing, unfortunately, was solved because my son liked Potts' and I liked Yocco's, but it was a fun experience nonetheless. Thank goodness for GPS because you will not find this place without it. It is in a neighborhood on a side street in Bethlehem. There is no seating available (either inside or outside) and no off-street parking. Potts' only takes cash and has a very limited menu. They close early in the evening so this is not an after bar stop (unless you are getting a real early start). The decor is about what my uncle's basement looked like in 1974, but without the Ping-pong table. The menu is laid out on one of those boards with the white letters that stick into channels. However, all of that amazingly works to create a place that you must go to - in fact, they get an extra star from me because these are the kind of joints that you need to frequent so that America's culinary landscape does not become an endless sea of Chili's and McDonalds. Dogs are only $1.50, but they are small coneys, so definitely order 2. The dogs are cooked on a foil lined flat top. We ordered what I understand to be the local "usual" - mustard, onions, and chili sauce. The chili sauce was very thin like all good coney sauce, but not overly spicy. The service was friendly and quick. All in all, a good experience and definitely one I suggest if you are visiting Bethlehem. read more

Has the real feel of an institution. Hot dog itself was fairly small, and had virtually no flavor or snap. Bun also seemed to be a bit too large. And chili itself was quite mild, perhaps because there isn't very much of it. Loved the atmosphere, and the fact that they employ what seem to be high school students. But if I'm being honest, there are much, much better versions of this type of hot dog out there - maybe not in Bethlehem, but in the Northeast. For example, went to George's Coney Island in Worchester a couple weeks later and both my wife and I agreed it was substantially better. read more

Great staff and family and you can't find a better example of consistency. I have relatives the look forward to visiting Pott's when they come in from out of town. For those of you concerned about the potential for contracting the virus, avoid the Pott's hot dog kiosk on Stefko Boulevard. When I visited last week, neither of the two men in the very small and confined kiosk was wearing a mask. Considering that they are a few feet from the hot dogs and rolls, if either had the virus or had been contaminated by the cash that they handle, it would be highly likely that the product would be contaminated. I like Pott's - always have. How can you not like a grilled dog smothered in the toppings of your choice? My personal favorite is the chili cheese dog. The aftermath of consuming such noxious fare may wreak havoc to air quality control, but the immediate benefits are sublime. Even better are the prices. Cheap, cheap, cheap and that is something I love, love love. So why only 4 stars you ask? The buns they use are so very sad. The doggies are good if you eat them right away. But if you order the dogs to go, they wrap them up and the heat from the dogs create such condensation that within three minutes, the bun is completely falling apart and a bit soggy. As I stated before, there's nothing worse than a hot wiener slipping through some wimpy buns. Bleh! The moral of the review? Eat your hot wieners right away. read more

I grew up with Potts Hot dogs and my son grew up (until we moved to Jersey) on their hot dogs. They are amazing and the chili sauce is the best! I love that when we come back to see family which is at least once a month, we can still pop in for a dog. Its in the middle of a neighborhood so you really have to know that it is there... and they do because there is always a line. Just be sure you know what you want when you get to the counter, they have a process and it runs like a well oiled machine...they are super fast! I HATE leaving poor reviews! For the most part, it's easier to never patronize the place ever again and just move on... Well Potts. Here we go: My husband is a Bethlehem local that's always had an affinity for this particular hot dog shop. (They HAD to be Potts) Needless to say, when we were back in the area, we had stop and grab a bite. The first issue was: depending on where you look including their website, closing times range from 6 to 8 o'clock. So to be sure we called just before 6:30 and were told that they closed at 7 pm. Fine. It's close, let's go. We arrived to be told that there were no hot dogs! Something (being low or out completely) that could have been easily explained over the phone, since I had spoken to the person that worked at the counter no more than 10 minutes (MAX) before that. It was so off putting and unprofessional, I'm good on the whole place in general. Who wants to waste time and gas to come to a place that doesn't have clear business hours or any of the product they sell? The only product they sell!!! It's just a hot dog. But its bad business. I highly doubt we'll be coming back. No worries, though. If the hot dog urge strikes again, my vote is trying Yacco's. read more

This place is slightly related to how I got into hiking, backpacking, mountain climbing, and backcountry skiing. I was never into anything outdoorsy, until I spent a few months working as a mailman. Yes, the United States Postal Service. I did some truck driving, some loading dock work, and some miserable overnight mail sorting, but the best job was being a substitute mail carrier. Every day, I'd go to a different neighborhood, learn the lay of the land, see each and every (damn) house up close, and spend 6 hours or so walking nonstop, hills and all, while carrying a fairly heavy bag. Some of my favorite routes were in this neighborhood. Duplexes and row houses with connected porches, great architecture, nice neighbors, and places to stop for lunch. Pott's (always pronounced Pottsies or Pottsiz in our circle) was a great place to stop for my government-issue 30 minute lunch. I usually went with just mustard, but sometimes easy cheez was necessary. Screw the damn onions (I swear, the whole damn Lehigh Valley has a lingering stale onion smell). But the taste and texture of the product was simply unmatched. No gristle, no bready bun, just a perfect match of processed meat and soft white bun, always hot and fresh. Yeah, Yocco's is the classic from the other side of the river (and has the Iacocca connection trivia going for it), but their sauce is rarely more than just heartburn. Pott's gives you the hot dog in a purer form. I should go back next time I pass through the old 'hood. read more

I've gone in alone recently (in fact....3 times recently......I guess I like getting kicked in the teeth figuratively) and order 2 dogs, no drinks, no chips. I keep getting the service feeling that they're doing ME the favor. My problem here is I' keep comparing it to the Potts of old.....I go the one in Nazareth only now.....same quality, but they charge less and actually ring you up with a smile and a thank you. I'll start this review by saying that I don't particularly like hot dogs. I may make them once a year at home, but I'm very picky about it: I only make them with potato rolls, and there are many varieties I don't care for. Pott's, on the other hand, I could eat every day. It's a combination of the dog itself, the steamed bun, and their delicious toppings. They offer all of the normal hot dog toppings: onions, ketchup/catsup, mustard, onions, as well as cheese (easy-cheese from a can, they slice the dog length-wise to create a canyon in the hot dog in which to put the cheese), sauerkraut (delicious!) and a chili sauce (not to be missed). I haven't lived in the Lehigh Valley for 8 years now, but every time I go back (my parents still live there), I have a real hankering to swing by Pott's. A chili & cheese, or a chili, cheese, & onion, or cheese & sauerkraut are my normal dogs, and always with chocolate milk. Delicious! The best hot dogs in Lehigh Valley. At least better than Yocco's. Jesse pushed me to go here one night while we were both on a project for our old consulting firm. After a few turn-arounds, we finally found the place. It's in the middle of the Moravian College campus, which is gorgeous in the spring. Potts' (pronounced POT-cees) storefront is nothing more than a crappy little hot dog stand. 75% of the space is kitchen. There's a single bench that seats three people. Sitting, one can admire the soda coolers, and ads for a woman that contructs hideous piggy banks. The service is good. Both times I went there were two girls that could have walked straight out of my frosh dorm. They didn't make fun of my inability to figure out how to order their flagship dog, and didn't stare at Jesse while he took pictures of the place. Ain't nothing wrong with that. As you can probably tell from the picture, the dogs aren't cooked to order, but they're damned good. It's actually possible to taste the meat on the dogs (as opposed to Yocco's, which taste like they just came out of carbon freeze). The chili is spicy, the kraut is wonderfully pickled, and the cheese is straight out of the can. Tastes deliciously homemade. And at $1.50 a pop, you can't beat it. read more

Pott's is the type of joint you don't always openly admit you eat at even if you grab a bite there often. It becomes an addiction that can fill up the bottom of your car seats with hidden chili encrusted wrappers you try to hide from your wife. It's just hot dogs, but they are damn tasty. The standard dog, grilled on a flat top covered in aluminum foil, is only slight crispy. Never over or under cooked. Served on a perfectly steamed bun. Get 'em with 'everything' and you'll get standard spicy mustard, perfectly diced (yellow?) onions and a smothering of the mild spicy chili sauce. Every Lehigh Valley hot dog spot has their own variation of hot dog chili and Pott's is less salty and spicy then others. These chili doesn't take away from the main course but compliments it nicely. Ask for cheese and your dog will be scored length wise and get an injection of EZ Cheese. Yes, the stuff in the can Jim Gaffigan jokes about. I occasionally add pickle which is a quality surprisingly placed under the dog. Bacon and kraut also available. What I love about Pott's is the consistency in service and preparation. They always slice the dog and apply the cheese vein the same way; flip that vein bun down the same way and add condiments to the same quantity the same way. The staff who work here seems to take pride in making these dogs and it shows. Quick service. From time of ordering to consuming it in your car takes no less than 2 minutes. Enjoy more than one. Just don't tell your wife how many you eat. read more
