I've passed by this spot a thousand times and never thought to go in--tucked, as it is, in the…read morecorner of a large parking lot and abutted by big box stores, it didn't necessarily call out to me. Well thank goodness I finally decided to nip in to 3rd Generations Grill last evening for a hot meal and a cold beer after a long day. I was quite happy with the experience. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but the dining room is large, open, and features a nice bar at the back with a decent selection of draft beer (sadly no dark options for the porter- and brown ale-loving crowd) and sundry spirits. The walls are plastered with rock & roll posters (they get extra credit for the Ziggy Stardust poster on the left side of the room as you enter) and the space is clean and well lit without being antiseptic and blazing. I think with a larger crowd (it was a bit sparse on my visit) the room could be a bit loud, so if quiet is your thing maybe plan for a low traffic time. After negotiating a workaround for the QR code-based online menu (I deduct a full star if that's my only option for ordering because I think it's poor service), I ordered the Generator burger from my very friendly, helpful, and service-forward bartender. What's great is I told him what I was looking for and he competently guided me to one of the best burgers I've had in a while. Double smashed patty, double bacon, cheese, onion. I added lettuce and tomato because I want to dupe myself into believing I had a vegetable that evening. Comes with side of their hand-cut fries and is a hearty portion of well prepared food. When I say this is a two-handed-eat-over-the-plate-like-a-caveman burger, that's exactly what it is. Thing is a monster of beautiful beef and bacon and cheese (sorry vegans, try again). Oh, and the food came out in good time--not fast food, but good food fast. I have a minor quibble with the fries which, while hand cut and nicely seasoned, were a bit under and kinda soggy. Not inedible, but could be better. I think if they blanched the fries before the final cook they'd achieve a crispier outside with that nice cushy potato centre you want in a French fry. But that's the only quibble. Service: six stars Food: four stars Ambiance: four stars Value: five stars I'll be going back again, for sure. No photos this time because I am a pig man and I tend to eat half my plate before my brain says, "hey! Yelp review inbound!"

The bartender was also server and was very friendly. He is why it is 4 stars. The food was pretty good. My burger was cooked well and the fries were very good. Dad enjoyed his fried shrimp. Bathroom was clean and it wasn't busy for lunch on a Thursday. Looks like they have fun things in the evenings. I would go back if I'm in the area.

Fry snob here, I ask for them super hot (if they come before/after the rest of the food, that's ok - as long as they are hot. They did not disappoint! It was a Saturday night and our group of 7 wandered in and found a table. We were waited on right away and our server was awesome. Drinks came out quickly, but it took a while for our food and apps because it was PACKED so we expected it. Our server was right on top of our empty drinks so no worries. When we finally got the food, it was typical bar type food. Some of us loved our meals and some of us not so much. It also turns out there was a band that night so we hung out to see them play and I am sooooo glad that we did! If you ever get the chance to see Dry River Band, go immediately! They were fantastic and it's easy to see why they have such a following in the area. My only complaint is that there is only one bathroom for women so the line was 6 deep at one point. Aside from that, we really enjoyed our visit and will be stopping back the next time we're passing through.

For lunch, we had the Apple Brie and Turkey sandwich. That was such a good combination. We also had the Arugula and apples salad. It also was good. The main tasting costs $20. They also offer an option to customize your wine tasting for $30. Both provide four wines. We customized and had the Sauvignon Blanc, the Viognier, the Rose, and the Petit Verdot. All were good, and it was fun tasting such an eclectic mix of wines. The staff are kind and professional. Our server gave us a little history on the vineyard, which we really appreciated. There's no pressure to buy bottles of the wine.

The food options here are nice, nothing too far from meats and cheeses, but I'm okay keeping it elevated with the main thing the main thing. Their wines are mostly dry, but good especially with foods. On this particular visit my friend and I had already had lunch, so opted to share a bottle and a cheese plate. It was perfectly portioned to share and enjoy a nice friend date with scenic views. I enjoy Veritas and it's a great stop for an hour or so to wine down and relax!

It's small inside, but jam-packed with a hundred unique musical novelties. Jewelry shaped like instruments, umbrellas with notes on them, bowties with piano keys, wine bottle holders made from actual piano keys, a small selection of vinyl records, books...one on how to tune a piano, CDs, etc... I can't remember it all, and it was quite overwhelming. I do know they didn't have a welcome mat, which is what I really wanted. I was told they'd hopefully have one by the holidays. So I'll be returning...also because it's where I travel for work. But if you're in Staunton, this shop is not to be missed. It's like a musical etsy conglomerate. Respect it.

All so tasty and very satisfying. One of the smaller rooms was used for drinks. The other was for a sitting room. Later on we went out in the patio where they had rocking chairs. So fun! What a perfect place. Great food, awesome service and very fancy and comfortable at the same time.
