The Club at Ironwood is a semi-private country club that offers public access for higher green fees…read morethan members pay. The club offers an 18-hole (par 71) layout with five sets of tees (black, blue, white, gold, and silver), a driving range, a putting green, and a clubhouse/19th hole restaurant. Maybe I went in with too high of expectations, but I was a bit disappointed at the course conditions for it being a country club. Tee boxes were overgrown and felt more like teeing up on short rough rather than manicured, short-cut grass. Greens were slow, made worse by the recent aeration that left every putt even more slow and incredibly bumpy. And, at least from the back tees, several holes require you to hit blindly over a hill, so it's difficult to see the hole's route or where your ball ends up. At the end of the day, you're playing golf, which is great, and this is one of the few courses in Staunton, but I wouldn't return to play here again.

The Fire Trail was a nice hike over the mountain without being too strenuous and had views of the valley at different points along the way. I could see it being muddy though if it rained recently so be careful. They weren't charging admission when we were there on a weekday afternoon and there was plenty of parking. It looks like they have fishing as well and maybe swimming when the weather is warmer. This place isn't far at all from Crozet so we went for a hike then had dinner in town.

My goal this year is to shoot my age. I have been close several time but putting has kept me from meeting that goal. I enjoy practicing, warming up before a round and working on my chipping at Anytime Golf. During the winter we had a Thursday night league where we would play 9 holes while it was 30 degrees or colder outside. If you want to improve your golf game, I highly recommend Anytime Golf. Carl the pro works with you giving you tips you can work on and the trackman give you the feedback immediately. Some key things to note:…read more - At 3,850 feet, the highest course in the State of Virginia - Access is only available to members, guests and registered resort guests - 50-mile views of the Shenandoah and Rockfish valleys - Surprisingly level mountaintop terrain My ears popped going up and down the mountain to the golf course. A good friend is a member, so that made me a guest. The mountain views are stunning and gorgeous. When it comes to walking, the level mountaintop terrain is true... When golfing, the hell with their level mountaintop. With their beautiful and super fast greens, the ball never stops rolling. A course like this requires precision and skill. Miss a shot or approach from the wrong angle and you can guarantee your next shot very far from the hole and in some cases, off the green. If you suck at golf like I did, you'll need lots of golf balls. Come prepared. Finding golf balls off of the rough are nearly impossible. My only gripe was that the greens were hard so approach shots didn't hold well. If you're a golfer and you're visiting Wintergreen and have the opportunity to play, take it. Bring your camera. You'll find some great views you'll want to snap.

When we opened the door we were pleasantly surprised - the arcade area was very modern and all of the games worked as they should (often not the case with arcades). We started with my grandson riding the go-kart for his age. He loved it. Then we did a ride with me driving and him next to me and that was fun as well - the karts were all in good shape. After playing in the arcade and getting a lot of 'tickets' he cashed in on a bunch of times. After that, we played laser tag. It was a legit laser tag place. We wondered how this building could possibly have a legit laser tag facility in it but it's actually upstairs on the whole floor. The laser equipment all was in good repair and worked as it should. We had a great time. The staff were all very friendly and also patient as my grandson pondered all of his choices with the 'tickets' he won. They apparently do birthday parties as well. We will definitely come back when we're in town next!

The employees were way more patient, attentive, and kind than I usually see at kids' amusement places, and I appreciated that they gave my daughter a chance to try the junior kart before moving her to the kiddie cart when she couldn't quite grasp it.
