Meat was good and fresh, didn't come from a can or bag; sauce was also local special, not jarred Heinz. Price was a little more than expected but quality was great. If ordering the sandwiches, get the bun not the bread. It all falls apart on bread. BBQ that is KC quality! We go here about once a month on rounds of the local joints. The ribs and the beans are worth the trip. My wife and I get the super we b platter to split (4 ribs, 2 meats, 2 sides). Homemade sauce in reg or hot is in top 3 in town. Sausage is Italian, not my fav..I think polish smokes better. . They use Apple and cherry wood so the smoke flavor is not overpowering. read more

Went there yesterday, 1st.time, run out of food ,every time we ordered waitress come back sorry.we're out, after the third time decided if.we can't get what we want ,we'll go somewhere else,she was not the most attentive.or friendly, went to pay for a.small juice and a coffee with no refills because she was that kind of waitress, said we were leaving and she screams thru the place thank you assholes, went to Circle C restaurant in paola.good service and food was decent. By far the best BBQ around! They are a family owned business and they know what they are doing with their awesome food! Don't short change yourself try this awesome friendly joint! Their BBQ sandwiches are to die for. Some of the best fried green beans with green bean sauce I've ever had as well. Our server was the managers granddaugjer and it baffles my mind how she has a job there. There is some CLEAR enabling of spoiled brat behavior going on considering how poor our service was and grandma backed her up by not only yelling at me and my husband when we confronted her after trying to brush off several issues, but other customers as well. Grandma yelled at a To-go order so loud and for so long other customers were all looking at each other around the restaurant and laughing in complete disbelief. I couldn't believe it!!! The granddaughter pointed her finger st us to hold on when we caught her walking by (considering that was the only way to get some service) to tell us to hold minute and literally complained any time we asked for anjntjng. It was honestly laughable and amusing which is why I didn't get mad until the end when I was trying to decide to leave her a decent tip or not after being such a brat the entire time and she sassed me and my family on our way out. Grandma chimed I'm and yelled at all of us on our way out (my small children (3) included) while other patrons watched with their jaws open. As many previous reviews have mentioned the older woman who runs the place is INCREDIBLY rude. We B Smokin had been on my short list of BBQ places to try for a long time due to being on a airport. I was highly anticipating the food and the experience. We ordered the 1/2 beef and 1/2 pork platter with beans and potato salad as well as another platter 1/2 beef 1/2 sausage, beans and fries. The younger waitress we had was good but a bad taste was left from the initial encounter with the older woman when walking in the door. The best part of the meal were the sides. The potato salad was very good and beans were fairly good. That being said the brisket, pork and sausage were not good. The meats were very bland shaved thin as well as small portions for the price. A poor excuse for BBQ when there's so much great BBQ in the KC area. Over all highly disappointed in We B Smokin. I will not be back. read more

I went there for the first time a bit ago. It's not as good as friends have told me. I have tasted better BBQ.

One of my favorite BBQ restaurants until today. I walked in the door and was immediately told in a much louder and terse voice than was necessary that I needed a mask. My wife and I had ridden down from up towards the airport for lunch. I was taken aback and we decided to leave since we went to Miami county for lunch as it was our understanding they they decided to not follow the governors mask order. I went back in to get clarification and was again greeted by what seemed like an angry person, evidently the owner, who said "you have to have a mask on to come in my restaurant". I tried to ask a question and got another loud, "you have to have a mask on to come in my restaurant". I said I had a question and asked if that that was their restaurant policy or the local government. But was again greeted with the same loud and angry sounding reply of "you have to have a mask on to come in my restaurant". So we decided to eat elsewhere. I am a firm believer that a business owner has the right to do whatever they want with their establishment. But yelling and getting angry at a customer, who has been there many times before, just for asking a clarifying question is over the line. There are many excellent BBQ places that will be getting my business instead from now on, but not this one. Which is too bad as they have great food and it is a nice destination ride for my wife and I and many of my motorcycle friends. read more

The atmosphere is divey here so it's a great place to go after a long day at work when you're just too tired and hungry to make something. The barbecue is good, but not the best around. Personally, I think if you're heading south of KC, K and M is better. The staff here are very friendly and helpful but the meat was a bit fattier than other places I've been. Watching the airplanes and helicopters land is a strong draw though. If you have little ones, that will keep them entertained for sure. read more

We-B-Smokin is probably one of KC's better BBQ joints...which is a shame because it's located out in the middle of BFE. But both times I've eaten here I've really enjoyed the food (and I'm Texan so I'm usually not a fan of BBQ in this area.) Their smoked turkey is delicious, as are their sides and other meat selections. And the jalapeno ketchup? Preatty amazing. The only negative thing I can say about this place is that the older woman who served us last time was pretty short-tempered and rude. But I really can't complain too much because this place is damn good eats, and pretty cheap at that. It's up to par with Okie J's and I love that it's a local mom and pop joint. If you're in the mood for good local BBQ be sure to make the trip out here and support these guys. read more

Fair bbq for KC standards. Love the airport setting, staff can be very rude. If they had friendlier staff and better quality bbq they might be worth trying just because of being able to watch planes take off from the airstrip. read more

We do not give 5 Stars very often. But this one was definitely a five-star for us. On our way to see our grandkids and decided to stop for lunch. Besides really good food, you get a nice view of the small airport. My husband had barbecue beef, I had the barbecue pork and we shared beans and slaw. I seldom eat beans when we are out , but these beings were the best ever. They could about have been the meal. We really enjoyed our sandwiches and because they were so good we are taking some home 4 grandkids. read more

This place is great! A unique location right on the airport, exceptional BBQ. The beans are among the best I have ever tasted (and I eat a lot of BBQ). The meat was smoked to perfection, the sausage was a very good, it tasted to me like a high quality Italian sausage. The salad was fresh and abundant. Terrible service. When we walked in we were told the list of what they were out of was on the board. The list would of been much easier to put what they did have. Ckn pulled pork and ribs. My family of 6 are not picky enjoy watching the plans so we stayed. Waitress only checked on us 1 time at beginning of meal and wasn't seen again. they teenage staff stood around talking loudly about everything but work. I lived in the area for ten years, ate at every BBQ joint around, and We-B-Smokin' is the best BBQ in east central Kansas. It's located at the Miami County airport just off US-169. Great selection of meats - ribs, brisket, pulled pork, ham, chicken halves, turkey and sausage. Sandwich or dinner menus for all items. Nice selection of sides. The baked beans are the signature dish, though. Order them! The service is prompt and friendly. Two slight changes could take this place to 5-stars. Lose the frozen fries and hand cut the potatoes. Stock a better selection of beer. We got the last bottle of Shiner, and after that it was only Bud, Coors or Miller. But the meat is what you drive or fly in for, and it's the best around. Five stars for the BBQ. Penalty point for the fries and beer. Well worth the drive or plane hop. read more

I love trying new restaurants and definitely look for the small town, mom and pop, hole in the wall type feel. If you enjoy going to places that are off the beaten path, you will love We B Smokin. The barbecue was delicious and their fries are perfect. The meat just fell right off of the ribs. I was not a huge fan of the baked beans but my husband who is a picky eater liked them a lot. It was fun to sit and watch the planes fly in and out of the little airport as we ate. We didn't bring our kids this time, but next time I think we will because they would have loved to watch them. The staff was very friendly, and our waitress was super sweet by showing me how to get the ketchup out of the Heinz 57 glass bottle! Wheel of fortune was on t.v. Grew up in KC and lived in Texas for many years. This is some of if not the best bbq we have ever had! Anyone who doesn't rate this place at least four stars knows squat about bbq! When we ate there a few days ago, I found a hair in my potato salad right when I opened it. I told server she quickly replaced it. We bagged up our leftovers and came home. 2 days later i go to eat the leftovers, I put a bite of pork on my fork and I noticed something. There was a bug inside the pork. Horrible experience. First time going there they seemed nice until I looked into the kitchen and saw a guy using his bare hands to plate our food. He put them directly into the pan of meat and did this twice as I watched in horror. I gathered my husband and kids and as we left I told our waitress what happened and offered to pay for our drinks. She then brought over an older lady so I explained again about the guy with his bare hands handling the food and told her I could not eat there. She rudely spoke to me and rang up our drinks that was over 9 dollars. I told her to keep the change and as we left I heard her say all the food now had to go back cause he wasn't wearing gloves in the most rudest way one can speak. Mind you this is in the middle of a flu outbreak and that is extremely unsanitary. I will never go back there . Gross and seriously horrible customer service. They should be ashamed. We have eaten there probably 5-6 times and I would not recommend it. Of those times going there, they have been out of the ribs we wanted twice and a staff member was kind of rude. The only reason we visited 5-6 times was it was very close and I try and give a restaurant more then one chance. The food is average but they do have a vinegar based coleslaw if you like that kind of thing. read more
