I enjoyed the KC melt with mac & cheese ($10 including tax). The grilled sandwich was delicious, and generously sized, with nicely toasted bread, cheese, juicy, flavorful, pulled pork, and cole slaw, while the side of mac & cheese was also generously sized, and somewhat creamy, but seemed to need more cheese. I liked the efficient, friendly, and fairly fast (four minutes) service. This was great comfort food for a reasonable food truck price. They accept cash or credit. Overall, sweet!

Wow! The Melt Truck is festive and delicious! I had the cheese melt, with crispy jalapenos, a side of mac (and jalapenos) and the cake with strawberry topping and whipped cream. It's on! Go find them, they Rock!!

I've found our new favorite restaurant for our weekly BBQ fix at J's BBQ! This was my second visit…read morein three weeks, and I can't rave enough about the food, ambiance, and service. My first trip was with my teenage son who loves ribs. We went for their unbeatable Wednesday/Saturday $18 full rack rib special. We shared the ribs and still had plenty left to take home. The meat was tender, smoky, and perfectly cooked. The BBQ beans were outstanding with just the right balance of smokiness and sweetness, and the seasoned crinkle-cut fries were addictive. This past weekend I brought the whole family of five. We're longtime regulars at KC Joe's, so I was a little nervous about a potential mutiny , but everyone loved it! My wife's face lit up the moment we walked in. She said it felt like a cozy restaurant we'd stumble upon while on vacation. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming with plenty of comfortable booths, warm lighting, and that perfect smoky BBQ aroma that hits you right when you enter. I went with the sausage and brisket combo, and it easily holds its own against most of the BBQ I grew up eating in Texas. One child ordered the kid's hot dog meal, and it was one of the best hot dogs I've tasted. Another got the brisket "Sloppy Mess" sandwich, and my wife had the shredded pork sandwich. Every single plate was a hit, and the whole family agreed we've found a new favorite. The owner was incredibly friendly and took the time to chat with us about how he opened the restaurant. It's always great to see that kind of passion! My only feedback is that I wish they stayed open a bit later. They close at 7pm on Sundays and 8pm the rest of the week. With a 20-minute drive from Overland Park and a family of five to wrangle, we could roll up right around closing time. A little extra time would make it perfect which I anticipate will happen the more people discover them. All in all, J's BBQ has officially earned a regular spot in our weekly rotation. If you're in the area and craving quality BBQ in a family-friendly setting, do yourself a favor and check it out!

Great ribs, especially on sale. They are Smokey and well seasoned. They could be eat ten without…read morethe sauce. The beans were what you would expect same with the fries from a BBQ Joint. The sauce? I would want more of a classic KC style sauce that is thick and coats the meat, but the flavor of the ribs makes up for it. Pair it with your favorite sauce and it's a 10/10.

As you walk in you're immediately greeted with a welcome and today's specials. Staff is honest and makes great suggestions. "To go" materials are easily accessible cause you can't really finish your meal (I mean you can, but you better carve out some time for a nap!). They offer catering for celebrations, parties, graduations, or anything you could think of! Place was very clean, and comfortable. While every bbq place in KC offers their own spin, many of which are great, this place just hits better!! It just feels like a small town bbq spot that is hidden; like a speak-easy of BBQ! Picture below is their 2 meat combo with 2 sides (ribs, burnt ends, cheesy corn and tallow fries) $26.

For my sides, I got Mac and cheese, cheesy corn and potato salad. Turkey sandwich was good, per le bf. It had a good smokey flavor and wasn't dry! My brisket was also quite moist with minimal fatty parts, which is what I prefer. Sausage was ok, had to really chew into it. What I'm most disappointed about is the ribs. The ribs were good, but for almost $20, I got 3 pieces. They stated for the ribs plate, you'd get about 3 or 4, depending on the weight, but it would be nice to note that down somewhere that when paying $20, expect 3 pieces. Ive gotten double that and about the same price at other bbq spots, hence my disappointed and surprised when opening the container. Mac and cheese had huge shell noodles, which was cool but on the watery side. Potato salad was decent, got the job done but a little bland. Sauces are also on the tangy side, and if you're a sweet bbq sauce gal like me, it wasn't hitting the spot. Overall was nice giving a try, but will prob be going elsewhere for my bbq needs!
