First time there and we were not disappointed. The meat was so tender and smoked beautifully. They make their own barbecue sauce, which tends to be sweet with just a touch of spice perfect for what we enjoy.. Onion rings were hand breaded, real onion rings not frozen. They were delicious. Homemade pie for only $4.50 a slice amazing! We had the Dixie pie and even bought one to take out. The service was good and the dining area very comfortable with a western theme decor. My only complaint would be that it's too far from our home, but we will make a special trip to enjoy a meal again it was that good! read more

Just left K & M Barbecue, and here's the rundown: I had the brisket sandwich and a couple pork ribs, with potato salad on the side. The brisket was tender, juicy, and had that melt-in-your-mouth texture you hope for. The pork ribs had that deep, smoky flavor we all expect from true old-school barbecue--definitely a salt-and-pepper-only kind of seasoning approach. Everything was cooked just right--fall-off-the-bone tender--but I did find myself wishing for a bit more boldness in the flavor department. A little more seasoning or sauce could've really taken those ribs and brisket to the next level. The standout, surprisingly, was the potato salad--creamy, well-balanced, and a great complement to the heavier meats. I recently moved to Spring Hill and found my new favorite BBQ joint, K & M BBQ. Their sauce, both mild and spicy, are great. I tried something different there yesterday, the Spicy Turkey Melt sandwich. It's about 3 inches of white meat turkey on a bun with swiss cheese, jalapenos and sweet heat sauce. Good food, nice clean place that wasn't too loud. The service was fantastic - we never waited on anything & the refills kept coming! Decent portions & the spicy sauce actually had some heat (which I liked). We went for lunch so trying to keep it 'smallish' The brisket was pretty shredded up while the pulled pork needed to be more shredded. But cooked well & nice flavor. Sides are decent with lots of choices - onion rings were not impressive. Dried out and too much crunchy breading kinda killed my interest. But cold slaw & beans were good. read more

We arrived at opening on Saturday morning. Besides our table, a few other tables arrived at the same time. It was a hot summer day and the dining room was quite chilly, but I'm sure it's because the day was just getting started. We had trouble deciding so ended up getting 2 items off the appetizers: the chicken wings and the BBQ Nachos with pulled pork as our meat choice. The food took a little longer than expected, but then again several tables were all ordering at the same time. The nachos had a good amount of meat on them, along with just the right amount of cheese sauce and sour cream. There were also some chopped tomatoes and loads and loads of black olives. (We had asked for the jalepenos to be left off and they were.) I'm not a black olive fan, but Mom is so I'm not complaining about the presence of the black olives, just next time I might get them on the side since they were very generous with the amount they put on the nachos. The pork was really tasty and there was a good portion added. Some chunks were bigger pieces and some were smaller, which is fine, but it was nice to have the meat be noticeable and not tiny bits. My preference would be to have some onions and maybe some beans or chili on the nachos or as a suggested option. They were a little plain but still very good and the chips themselves were light and crispy too. Now, the wings... different story. They were beautiful and sauced just the right amount... not buried in sauce since there was sauce on the table. Just enough to give it a bit of cooked in flavor. The unfortunate thing is how dry the wings were. We are assuming that perhaps they are precooked and held refrigerated then fried to warm them up and in that storage process they dried out so much that the meat had no moisture left in it. We took them home with us and Mom even let them sit in some hot water hoping they'd maybe soften back up a little but they were just overcooked and completely dried out. A BIG disappointment. We do not go to Spring Hill often, but I'm not sure we'll go back. The Nachos were good, but they weren't so good that I'd be running back there just to have them. read more

The BBQ was okay, it wasn't anything to talk about or bad..we went around 2pm and it wasn't busy and the waitress was "somewhat friendly" but hey at least they have staff! The sand which was good, the sauce was ordinary and the beans were "okayish" they said they make the beans but I'm not sure they are made Fresh they were a little soggy and tasted reheated...the potato salad I was told was not homemade (whyyyyyy) so we skipped it..the sausage wasn't very crisp and had some soggy to it which we expected smoked sausage to firmer..you can tell this place has been around while and I'm sure will be for awhile longer....worth it and the price was good. read more

It was our first time in but it's been there for like 30 years or something so you know it has to be solid. Super friendly staff from the minute you walk in, through the meal and up until you walk out. I had the 2 meat plate with sausage and turkey. They grind/make their own sausage and it's probably the best in KC area. The turkey was good as well. Served with two sides (potato salad and bbq beans for me) and they were delicious (great potato salad). Sliced white bread accompanies the meal with a pickle spear. What we didn't know when we walked in the door is that K&M closes at 6. A sign said they'd run out of chicken, wings and something else. I ordered the baked potato with burnt ends and almost immediately someone came out of the kitchen to announce only 2 potatoes were left. Phew. Just under the wire. My potato was served with a good amount of tender burnt ends with bark on top and the whole thing looked amazing. My only gripe ... you know how baked potato is fluffy and a microwaved potato is NOT? It was clearly microwaved. I get it. BUT it would have been way better baked. The spicy sauce was smoky, thick, and sweet with the just the right kick. I tried a rib bone - maybe the highlight! Heard of K&M from a neighbor and was finally able to drop in for dinner after living in the area for three years. As with any KC BBQ joint, I always look for burnt ends on the menu and K&Ms burnt ends did not disappoint. Anyone familiar with burnt ends knows that they can be hot or miss, but when they are good, they melt in your mouth and are awesome. I got baked beans and fries as my sides. This is me just being picky, but I was a little disappointed that their fries were not fresh cut. I think fresh cut fries in a BBQ joint makes the difference between good and great BBQ places. K&Ms sauces were very good and I couldn't decide if I liked the regular or spicy sauce better. I would give K&M a solid 3.5 stars but they get the bump up to four stars based on the burnt ends. read more

The noise level can be quite loud on a Saturday night when the restaurant is full. So, not the best first date choice. But, you're here for barbecue! Who needs idle chitchat! The attention of the servers can be a little spotty, so you may need to be proactive if you want a refill on your beverage. Think of John Wayne, what would he do? Well, he wouldn't remain parched, now would he? If you are a big feller... Or just a starving debutante, I highly recommend you try the killer sandwich and the fried pickles. The Killer Sandwich: The sandwich was huge! More than enough meat for several sandwiches. The turkey and the ham were moist and juicy with a mild smoky flavor. Put this juicy meat on a specialty bun, like onion, brioche, or pretzel, and the sandwich would be a clear five-star winner. I also highly recommend their spicy barbecue sauce. It is sweet and textured with what appears to be chunks of ground pepper and spices. The Fried Pickles: were extra crispy on the outside, but still juicy on the inside. This was made possible by a light cornmeal batter. Crunch! They serve it with ranch dressing and house made honey mustard. The burnt ends: were way too burnt for my taste. There were a few of the larger pieces that had enough interstitial fat that they remained succulent but, as a whole, most of it was dried and crusty. The entire portion was saturated in barbecue sauce. An unsuccessful attempt to keep the meat moist. Unfortunately, it just overwhelmed the flavor of the beef. : ( The really big misses: Coleslaw: The cabbage was crispy and fresh but the dressing was extraordinarily watery and sweet. French fries: Old,dry No matter what restaurant you go to, everyone has a bad day, or sometimes you just order the wrong thing. So, don't be that person! The last stop on my KC BBQ Tour. This place was recommended by a co-worker who was told by her Lyft driver that it was the best in KC. Since it took me almost 30 minutes to get there, I see why it's Lyft driver recommended. It's located between a Casey's gas station and the woods. It's isolated for sure. I phoned in my order for pickup and she said it would ready in 5 minutes. I told her to give me at least 25 minutes. I picked up my food (half slab and burnt ends) headed back to the hotel to dig in. I tried the ribs first and saved the burnt ends for the next day. First there was no flavor other than the smoke. No seasonings what so ever. But luckily the sauce was good... almost too good. I read another review on here and they made an interesting point about the sauce. Is it homemade or a store brought that's been jazzed up. As I stated in my other reviews, super soft ribs must be a KC thing because these were soft to the point of some of the gristle being gelatin like. Well if I return to KC I will continue my quest for some great ribs but until then, Chicago ribs and rib tips rule. read more

My main reason for coming is here is that it is within walking distance to AGC, which we are always delivering or shipping at. This is your second of only two options, the first being Sonic. I'm tired of fast food, so I decided to try this barbeque place. Let me also state that I am from Texas so I know good barbeque and have high standards. Firstly, their fried pickles are amazing. They're a bit spicy but with a tad bit of ranch are almost perfect. I absolutely hated the sausage. It was awful. I'm not sure what kind it was or what it was seasoned with but it didn't taste right. The ribs are usually excellent, if not a bit dry. The turkey is tender and makes for tasty sandwiches a day later. Skip the pork. Dry, flavorless and is only decent when doused with barbeque sauce. I'm looking forward to trying the catfish on catfish Tuesdays but until then, I'm going to steer clear. Service is usually wonderful and I love the country decor and theme inside but I just wasn't blown away with the food. I'll be back...if only for the fried pickles! read more
