I had a token and needed lunch so after a quick scan on Yelp, we decided to check out Ott Haus. And I was not disappointed. The building is cute and kinda small. It definitely had an older feel, kinda dive bar-ish but it was clean. They have bar seating, a handful of tables, and a beer garden area. It gets a little crowded pretty quickly so you may make some new friends if you share a table. The service was great and the owner was super nice. She answered questions and was very accommodating. They have New Glarus beer on tap, duh. But also domestics, cocktails, and soft drinks. I had a strawberry rhubarb beer from New Glarus and absolutely loved it. I also had a PBR which is my stand by. Based on the reviews, we had to try the cheese curds. They come with a dill ranch. They weren't greasy at all. They were lightly breaded and fried perfectly. The ranch was a tasty accompaniment. Highly recommend and would order again. For my entree, I ordered the Beer Cheese Bacon Burger: 1/2 pound burger cooked medium with beer cheese and bacon on a pretzel bun. This was probably my favorite meal of my Wisconsin vacation. The burger patty was delicious and seasoned well. The pretzel bun held everything together and paired perfectly with the creamy beer cheese sauce. The bacon was an added bonus. I opted for tater tots for a side and enjoyed dipping them in that extra beer cheese. This was seriously one of the best burgers I've eaten in a looooong time. It's probably good that I live 500 miles away because my waist line and wallet would take a beating. I highly recommend stopping in and grabbing a drink and food. I will be back the next time I'm in town.

The best thing was the cinnamon roll, which they get from a local bakery. Large, soft, and gooey, it made for a great dessert to split. The Texas toast with meat was fine, but felt a little small. Something got keyed into the system wrong, so we only ended up getting plain grits at first. We went over to ask the waitress about this and she apologized and got us a cup of the seasoned shrimp and bacon to go with. The grits on their own really didn't have much flavor, but they did have a pooling of oil or butter, not sure which one they use. It definitely benefitted from the shrimp, which were also in a pool of butter. The bacon pieces were nice and crisp and gobbled up without making it to the grits. These ribs were good enough without any sauce. Having said that, the sauce is delicious, albeit a little different than the norm. The sauce is heavily tomato-based. Being so different than typical molasses or vinegar based sauces, it was an excellent change of pace. The beans were also a bit different, made with ground beef, bacon, and beans. In fact, the beans were more like a sloppy joe with beans and bacon. Thumbs up! Sadly, the cole slaw was a bust. Mostly dry cabbage and carrots without enough dressing. Not sure what happened there.
