Not wanting to leave the house I went to ubereats found this restaurant and I read the reviews of course and they seemed well. Placed my order I got meatloaf, mash potatoes, Mac and cheese which also came with corn bread. The food was seasoned to perfection and it was great I would definitely order again. After hiking Stone Mountain and being angry that none of their restaurants opened until 12, we went off property and found this place. I was raised off of Mississippi and Louisiana cooking, and let me tell you, this place was incredible. The fried catfish was flavorful and delicious. Same with the fried okra. The yams were served sliced (not mashed as I'm accustomed to), but they were just as sweet, obviously cooked in brown sugar. Surprisingly, nothing was greasy, including the onion rings (a huge plate for $3). Also, to save the best for last: their cornbread was literally the best I've had in my life. It was sweet without being a corn cake. I could have eaten ten of the muffins and nothing else and left happy. Try it. You won't be disappointed. read more

Our absolute favorite place for take out and delivery. Consistent, perfectly seasoned soul food that warms my heart every time. Growing up in LA (lower Alabama) I think I know what proper soul food is all about including love, peace and bacon grease and this place has it in boat loads! We eat here once or twice a week and yes, they run out of popular items but you just learn to order early to get your favorites. It is so worth it to get extra meat with your entree when you order online because they really pile it on. Absolutely THE BEST fried chicken I have had anywhere. That's why I come back over and over again despite the wait time some posts here mention about. I am willing to wait for good food. But I would have to agree with some of the comments over an inconsistent quality of service provided by wait persons and portion of foods served depending on time of the day. I went there for dinner for the first time about a month and a half ago and was taken a back by scarcity of foods served at that time compared to what I get for lunch. It was rather obvious that they were making due by spreading out the little bit of food they had made for the day over as many servings as they could. First of all, I request that the management make improvement on amount of ingredients purchased and their portion control throughout the day. If that effort fails, I'd much rather be told that certain foods are sold out so please come back again, instead of being cheated on the amount of food proportionate to what I pay for. I want to be understanding of a huge challenge that the management is always faced with in making economical decision to run a business. I just had my first and last visit. When I arrived, I was made to do a chore while the cashier, who asked me to close a stubborn front door, sat behind the counter and watched me while I struggled. After an hour and ten minutes, found out that my mom's meal was in the display case (the one they said we were waiting for) and was ice cold by time we got home and the remaining three meals were only lukewarm including the thigh they alleged took so long. Macaroni and cheese was below average, cornbread was dry but sweet like cake, okra was hard as a rock, and guess what? That thigh was not even done in the middle. Being a chef myself, it was clear they didn't cook all chicken at same time and someone forgot the okra was in the fryer. Customer service was syrupy sweet southern drawl, not impressed. It was fried to perfection...so tender and flavorful. My only disappointment was that it was not the Full Turkey Wing. It was the Middle Wing with the Wing Tip attached. Don't waste yummy batter on that Wing Tip. There's no meat in that Tip. Seeing that Tip made me angry. I gave 4 stars because of that Tip. A hidden gem on Stone Mountain Hwy. I rarely eat pork, but had a craving for smothered pork chop (comfort food). Searched online for soul food restaurants in the area and We Got Soul came up in the search. I'm glad it did. The restaurant is clean. Staff extremely friendly and professional. The pork chop was thick and delicious. For sides, I got the Mac and Cheese and green beans. Both delicious. The Mac and Cheese was almost as good as my mom's. THIEVES!!! My family decided to support a black owned restaurant on a trip to Stone Mountain. We ended up at We Got Soul. We ordered our food a little before 5:45 and they close at 6. We ordered 4 catfish dinners with various sides, including mac and cheese and cornbread. At 6:10 they tell us that they are out of macaroni and cheese. They didn't have anything else that we wanted being that it was already after closing. Therefore, I requested a refund for the food that they didn't have. They pointed to a sign on the wall that said no refunds. I said that since they weren't giving me the food that I already paid for it wasn't a refund. After slamming stuff around, the server went to the back. After asking, I was told that they were getting my food. Approximately, ten minutes later they handed me bags. I get to the car and rather than making their mistake right by giving me money for food that I didn't receive, they gave me some raggedy, soggy looking fries and rolls from a package instead of mac and cheese and cornbread, or a refund. They must've also ran out of catfish, which they didn't even tell us, because one of my pieces of fish was not catfish. The catfish that we did receive was good.
