If I could give zero stars, I would! Cannot speak on food as I left without it. Service is beyond horrible. After I placed my order I asked how long it would be. I was told 15 minutes and I asked to cancel my order because I couldn't wait. The male server told the woman who took my order he would put my order to the front - not acceptable as others were waiting. Person taking orders proceeded to tell me how much it was so I could pay. I paid and stepped aside to wait. Fifteen or so minutes passed and I inquired about my order. I was told it was ready. At that time I overheard the server telling the door dash delivery person they were out of peach cobbler which prompted me to ask if there was peach cobbler for my order. The male server and the person at the counter told me they gave me the cobbler from door dash. I asked that they not do that as the door dash order was placed first. Decided to stop in to try their meatloaf, mashed potatoes, Mac n cheese and peach cobbler. I was greeted by a friendly hostess as soon as I walked through the door. The place is some what small but very clean. I couldn't wait to get home to warm up my 2 go order. When you first walk into this restaurant, no one greets you. I was literally standing there ready to order and the employees were behind the counter just standing there as if we were supposed to get behind the counter ourselves to make the food... but that's just the beginning. The person taking our order had the worst attitude and this is our first time coming here. First impressions clearly do not matter here. The food is not cooked fresh. It's sitting out. I ordered Salisbury steak and the it feels like someone chewed it up, spit it out and put it together like a hamburger. They ran out of plates... and another plate was missing food and got the wrong food, specifically, we got sweet potatoes and we ordered mashed potatoes with gravy. My mom ordered mashed potatoes and got asked if she wanted gravy, I didn't get asked the same question. The portions are terribly small. I use a walker and the Owner came over and said to sit down they would bring us a menu and serve us at the table, even tho you are supposed to stand at counter and order. This restaurant had the longest wait time ever. Once my husband and I sat down and placed our order it took about 35 min to receive a salad and a warm can of cola . The waitress (Brook) didn't even offer a glass of ice. We never once got a refill while we waited 1 hr 45 min for the main course. Once receiving our main course, I had to send back the side dishes to be reheated because it took so long for my fish to come out. The cornbread was cold. We would only recommend this restaurant to people who have a lot of time to waste. The environment, while small, is nice, clean, and inviting. The staff was really nice and friendly. Pricing is fair, and in some cases, could be more. They had a $5 Friday fish special that came with fries, a really good sized sandwich the my husband said, "was really flakey and their breading is the way fried food should be. The seasoning was great and the portions were pretty good." Our daughter had the Chicken Alfredo, and the sauce was amazing; thick, cheesy and with some bite. I had the Smothered Fried Chicken with Rice, which was super tender, and even the rice was well cooked and mixed well with the gravy. We also had Fried Green Tomatoes, that my daughter felt was slightly underdone. It would have been nice to see a few more unique dishes, but the menu is one based around simplistic home-made foods, but their food is far better than average. If you're looking for good home cooking, you've got to try this place out! Oh, and their deserts are awesome too. My husband & I tried We Got Soul for the first time this week for an early lunch, and we will be back! Our server, Monique, was terrific - very friendly, made us feel welcome, & provided good service. We both really enjoyed the food. I had the grilled salmon croquettes - delicious!!, fried okra - seemed like home-made & just right, and mac & cheese - creamy, cheesy & fresh - again, just right. Hubby had the meatloaf - an enormous piece, moist & very tasty, mac & cheese, and collard greens. He enjoyed his meal very much, although I was not a fan of their collard greens - personal taste. There were no dine in customers just a 3-4 people waiting on their order. And to think I tipped these people 20% when I placed and paid for my order!! The employees are unsympathetic of your wait time - they have 3 people running around taking and filling orders. They probably are the cooks too!! This is a very disorganized poorly run business!! I understand the fried foods are cooked to order but to wait over 45 minutes for 2 simply orders is RIDICULOUS!! The portion sizes are SMALL --ordered chicken tender meal for my adult son and it looked more like a kids meal. The tenders looked more like chicken "nuggets" instead of tenders. The first thing is excellent customer service for this restaurant. This is a huge thing with me especially when dealing with food and small businesses. Next, the food is good. I like that they don't cook in pork or beef. A lot of soul food restaurants started to do this a few years ago but some started back. I like that they considered this with soul food. I haven't had a bad meal from here and we have visited a number of times. I would suggest to call ahead if you don't want to wait long though. I really like the food here but something seems to have changed in the last several weeks and not in a good way. The salmon croquettes used to contain all salmon but now seem to be 85% flour - 15% salmon and resemble more of a fried dumpling, plus the portions are smaller. Today was the second time I've ordered from here using Uber Eats. I had a good experience with their food the first time so we decided to try again. I ordered the 2 filet catfish and shrimp meal and my husband ordered the chicken tenders meal. I got the green beans and side salad as my two sides. I chose my meat to be blackened. The catfish filets and shrimp were perfectly blackened and had a nice spicy tinge to it. The green beans were well seasoned and tasted good. While I love my green beans cooked with bacon, this one was still pretty good. The side salad was nothing much, but it came with a side of ranch and had a good amount of cheese on it. I previously had the baked dark chicken and it was well baked, the chicken was moist and tasty. My husband enjoyed his chicken tenders and was very happy with his meal. Well I will start by saying that I came to this place with the hopes of having some solid soul food however this place failed in every way.First my order was taken wrong but my sister was understanding and we accepted the food anyway. We then got in the car and discovered her fries were not burned but tasted like old frier grease. You know the kind that makes a person want to throw up all over themselves. So I turned the car around and politely asked for my money back. First the lady told me that clover doesn't give refunds however I am in the food service industry and have been a sous chef for 3 years and bartender for another two I am well qualified to tell you that your grease is old. I did not yell act a fool or do anything some might think this review warrants. Only asked for my money back and the person who she speaks to on the other end of the phone refuses to give me my money. Scamm!! so take it from me someone who cooks GOOD FOOD for a living.
