We celebrated my husband's birthday at Ember Steak house at WeKoPa casino and resort. I had the Sea Bass which was VERY DELICIOUS and my husband had a filet mignon. He enjoyed his steak. Our server, Sherianne, did an amazing job taking care of us. She brought complimentary champagne and dessert to add to our birthday celebration. She made our evening very enjoyable! The valet parking is very easy and I highly recommend. I did get their member rewards card and the employee helping me was very nice and personable and made some nice suggestions. We saw Chubby Checker perform and that was amazing. This 84 year old still knows how to put on an outstanding show. The conference center was not so great as they had folding chairs that were not very comfortable. The show was great but probably wouldn't return due to the seats. read more

Went to see Chubby Checker perform on 4-11 held at their conference center. The show was amazing and entertaining. It was incredible to see Chubby singing and dancing so well at 84 years of age. The seating was horrible though. We sat on folding chairs that were connected to one another and although I'm a petite person, my elbow was rubbing the person seated next to me. I spent the entire time leaning on hubby. I don't think I'll go to another show here as the seating was just not comfortable. The casino is very nice and clean. We got there early so checked out the buffet and the food looked really good, so will return for the buffet. read more

It's been six years since I've been here. We came in on a Monday night right after New Year's and I'm so glad we waited because there was hardly any people here. The employees were super friendly and nice. Instead of eating before we went we decided to try some of the food at the casino. We arrived around 7pm my only complaint was that 95% of the restaurants at the Casino were closed so our options weren't very good. We ate at The sports bar and I loved our server Roberto he was so polite and kind it goes to show that older adults employees can be better that a young person in their teens or 20's . I can highly recommend the casino it was clean and attentive for only suggestion is that they keep their restaurants open just a little later. read more

Accused!!! First of all I have loved going to this casino since it was called Ft. McDowell Casino in the 1990s. I used to have a players card and won a couple of jackpots throughout the years. The food is great, too! The only reason why I am writing this review is to complain and to say that I am never again going to We-Ko-Pa again and it's for the following reason. Today (7-22-26) I went to We-Ko-Pa to play for a bit. I went to eat and then started playing on the penny slots. I had won on a few machines and was playing on a Mad Money machine when I was approached by two casino employees one of which was dressed in a suit and said was from security. To cut the story short, the suited gentleman accused me of taking $72 from a Planet Moolah machine that someone had left by mistake in the machine. He said that they had footage that I had played the machine right after the $72 had been left in there. I tried explaining that there were no credits in the machine when I put my ticket in. The Planet Moolah machine also gave me a winning of about $35 so when I cashed out I took out a ticket of around $82. Both gentlemen that spoke to me were adamant that there was already $72 in the machine when I arrived but that wasn't the case. These guys made me give them the $72 and I was in complete shock! I guess I should have told them to get a tech to look at the tickets inside the machine or to have more evidence than just looking at the footage. My advice is that if this ever happens to you ask for more evidence and further investigation. I was cheated of $72 of my own money! I will never go back to that casino again!!! read more

This is by far our favorite casino in the metro area! This is our go to spot, the gaming area is never very busy and we usually go during the week! We play Bingo here about once a month too! Staff is always friendly and the blackjack dealers are amazing as well. We usually have comped rooms when we stay. Rooms are good, comfy beds and pillows, bathroom shower needs an upgrade though, water pressure is not good and shower head needs attention, towels are small too. Balcony rooms are nice with a view. As far as food, we've eaten many times at the sports bar and they have really good food but buffet is only open Thursday through Sunday so keep that in mind. Our first visit. Very nice. Clean, smoke free and very friendly employees. We had lunch in the Sports Bar. Excellent service, made to order meals and quite tasty. I had Pastrami Reuben with enough French fries for a family. My Partner had the Steak with Parmesan fries. We took half my sandwich and lots of fries home with us. We enjoyed the slots even though we didn't win but we didn't lose too much either. Table games are $10 and we will try them next time. read more

We-Ko-Pa resort is only 10 minutes from our home. My review is about Ember restaurant which is a fine dining gem inside the casino. I valet my car outside the casino and walk through about half of it to the left to find Ember. We went to celebrate my birthday as it is a favorite place to eat. The polite server brought complimentary champagne and a birthday sign for the table. The architecture in the restaurant is very nice with the bar near the entrance and a large seating area in the rear. I ordered baked potato and the bison tenderloin as there are extremely few places to find this healthy meat. It tasted amazing. They also served the best rum manhattans I have ever had with dark rum and smoked! The total bill with two entries two sides and two drinks came to $207. Without tip. They brought out a cup cake size pumpkin cake for my birthday which was a nice touch. The piano was not used due it being early on a Wednesday but I have been there on weekends when they had great entertainment. I continue to love this restaurant for the staff the atmosphere the buffalo steak and an overall excellent experience. read more

It is very busy on Thanksgiving Day. The staff at We Ko Pa (formerly Fort McDowell) have tried to utilize the space they had to handle this. They have done well. Some people did not understand their two stage waiting process and were very upset. Perhaps some signage explaining this, and showing them where to go after, would make the process less stressful. The desserts and the serving area for them were very good. There was an orange chocolate bread pudding that was creative, and it even tasted good. There were several choices of salad and breads. These were presented attractively. There were peel and eat shrimp, with the standard horseradish/ketchup sauce. Other areas were lacking. The Asian foods, in the far corner, all lacked flavor. They did not have any hot mustard for the eggrolls. Gaulden's was really pushing it. They offered Prime Rib, but it was tepid, was not juicy. There was no Au Jus. That made it flavorless. The tamales which are supposed to be soft and moist and warm were rough around the edges. My sister as a four year old used to say "If it looks good it tastes good" The reverse is true here. If you players club card does not work, you won't get a discount. That would make your bill $47.96. For what they offer it would have been worth it, but for some reason for all the years I've been dragged to this, the card never works. read more

I joined my husband here for two nights for a work function. The resort offers lots of amenities: spa, pool, casino, restaurants and lounges, golf course, and more. I did not explore the casino or much of the grounds, so my review is mostly about our short stay at the hotel. The check-in process was seamless and the hotel staff was friendly. We were assigned a spacious room with a king bed. The room was clean and offered everything we needed for our short stay. On our first night, we dined at the WKP Sports & Entertainment. We had a reservation for a big group and had a good experience. The food was good and they had live music later in the evening. Accessing the restaurant requires walking through the casino from both the hotel side and the main entrance. Staying at the hotel provided perks at the We-Ko-Pa Golf Club, conveniently located across the parking lot. I tried to visit the driving range but was turned away because they were about to do a clean pick. I thought it was a bit strange and inconvenient that this closure was not communicated when I called two hours before to inquire about visiting the driving range that day. Fortunately, I only drove a short distance from the hotel to the clubhouse. Overall, we had a nice stay. I would recommend We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort, especially for those seeking a comfortable stay with great amenities near the airport. read more

I started playing bingo again at this casino and I have to say it's so much better! The staff is always helpful in explaining packages and how to get the most for your money. The only issue I would have is the caller never tells anyone to stop talking. I go to relax not listen to people talking loudly about their daily business. Other than that, We-Ko-Pa seems to give you more credit points and free play more frequently and at a higher rate than the other local casinos, at least in my case. read more

Good and Bad! Visited the We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort for an overnight stay during the Labor Day weekend. I was surprised that it wasn't as busy as we expected so we were pleasantly surprised when we entered the WKP Sports & Entertainment (grill) for lunch on Sunday to meet friends who had already eaten and the place was fairly empty except for those watching college football. This visit to the grill was nothing like our last visit to the resort. Our female server either wasn't having a good day or doesn't like her job. She ALMOST just never smiled. I think I saw one smile. We had to track her down every time we wanted something even though the place was nearly empty and to top it all off the food too horrendously long to come out. Our friends warned us that theirs did as well. I don't understand how that could be when the grill is so empty. If this review had been only for the grill it would have been 2 stars but then we went to the casino Buffet that evening so that review is a combination of both experiences. It was getting late and we realized the buffet closed at 10pm and it was already 9pm so we quickly paid and entered the buffet. We were met with a wide variety of options from "around the world" and on Friday & Saturday Night is Crab Leg & Prime Rib Buffet. My husband enjoyed the crab legs and the prime ribs was very tasty and cooked I would say medium but it was late in the evening. Even though it was late none of the dishes on the buffet were lacking. Seafood was full and fresh and staff was following us around opening the dishes as we walked by. Finally we finished up with the great selection of deserts. All in all a good experience....5 stars but unfortunately since this is a blended review I am giving it an overall review for both restaurants 3 stars. read more

The payouts are ridiculously low very limited slot selection compared to other local casinos servers and service is extremely slow.. stayed in a hotel room and found hairs in the bathroom and in my bed. Let me start by saying this was our go-to spot for staycations and weekend getaways, but not anymore. We visit at least 4 times a year and usually book a cabana. We also brought visting friends and family, but that will no longer happen. We called ahead of time to confirm whether the Canelo vs. Crawford fight was going to be shown. We were assured that it was by whoever was working the phones. We arrived on 09/12 with the intention of having a pool day on 09/13 and then dinner and the fight. Once we arrived, we tried to confirm the fight, but no one in the sports room could confirm. They told us they would let us know the next day, but the next day, still no one knew anything. It wasn't until around 3-4 pm that we were told it was not going to be shown. To stream in our room. Spoke with management, who offered nothing but to comp our rooms. Normally, this would have been enough, but with zero help, concern about us planning this weekend for this specific reason being ruined, I felt trying to make the rest of the stay by a dinner offer or drink would have been appropriate, but zero offers came through. At first, on Saturday, they told us to leave and said there would be no charge. Anhala restaurant is gone, so you now have to have breakfast in the brightly lit, overstimulating area of the sports bar. This place has just gone downhill. No wait staff at the pool, no hot food service; you must get it yourself. The higher service level once here has disappeared. STILL WAITING ON THE REFUND THAT WAS PROMISED read more

I really enjoy the casino floor and feel I win easier here. 5 stars on that! However, it's quite a distance from my home and I can't use their rooms. The chemically sweet heavy smell overwhelms when you walk into the room. I travel to many casinos and none are quite this pervasive. I changed rooms and same...on two different trips. I asked for odorless room, they have none. Both trips we had to leave when gambling done as couldn't sleep there. We tried all the tips to air room out, none worked well. So if you are odor sensitive, not the place to stay. I really tried at the 2nd visit to give it longer, and my lower lip was going numb which I recognize as an early warning to an allergic reaction. The views are incredible, the venue was perfect, and the wedding we attended was genuinely beautiful--right up until the chicken decided to take me down like a bad plot twist. The ceremony? Flawless. The setting? Gorgeous. The memories? Unfortunately mixed with nausea. Sometime after the reception meal, it became painfully clear that the chicken I was served had other plans for my evening. Instead of celebrating newlyweds and enjoying the resort, I spent the rest of the night dealing with food poisoning that completely ruined what should have been a wonderful experience. That's the frustrating part: everything else about the resort was fantastic. This wasn't a dive bar or sketchy roadside stop--this was a high-end resort hosting a wedding. Safe, properly prepared food should be the bare minimum. I don't leave reviews lightly, and I really wish this one were all praise. But when a single meal can derail an entire event, it deserves to be mentioned. Hopefully this was a one-off issue, because a place this beautiful shouldn't be remembered for sending guests home sick. Tried to get the Bingo hall management to answer phone calls on December 30 to 31st about their New Year Eve Bingo Bash. Was about to go and spend $600 there. Nobody would answer the phone to give information. Left name and number, with no call back. They do not answer the phone or give people a call back. Only take calls between 10 am to 4 pm. Great way to treat customers! Food is pretty bad in the snack bar in the Bingo Hall. We won't even eat there anymore. Went to the $60.00 per person buffet a few years ago and it was so bad. Nothing was fresh and everything tasted over cooked and rubbery. We have been going there for 35 years and it used to be fun but now it is just expensive for a very "below average" time. Well, nice hotel/casino but lacks traffic and restaurant hours are whack. There are 3 restaurants on site and while at a convention there, you would think they would all be open after 7pm but nope, only bet is the sports bar. That shows the lack of traffic that goes out there. As for the rooms, nice, spacious, other than the water being turned off on my first day there for a couple hours due some issue in another room so that SUCKED! The location is pretty far out there so if you're looking to be close to downtown or other dining options, there are better options of where to stay. read more

The Sports Bar Restaurant! Aaaammmmaaazzzzing! First of all the service absolutely 5 star! Basically everyone who walked by checked in on us and not in an intrusive way but a genuine way. Then the food ok hubby & i had the old fashion burger cook exactly as ordered med well for us Daughter had the smokehouse burger again, cooked as ordered med. The fries delightful i also had onion rings yummmmmmy!. We were super impressed it's a new 1/2 way stop to get the Grandkids and will forever be out new meeting place. While the golf course is exceptional, the hotel itself could use a bit more help. Check in wasn't bad for me. It took slightly longer than most check ins, but could have been worse as it was for a couple of my colleagues. One of my colleagues had to wait 4 hrs for a room to become available. The other colleague was told to come back tomorrow and they would put them up at the local Comfort Inn instead. Not very good customer service. How to you overbook a hotel? My room was OK, but too close to spring break folks who liked to party until late. Internet service is questionable. The certificate didn't align and therefore I had issues connecting to my company's server. Being that this is an Indian owned property, there's probably little that could be done if you're hacked. The casino part was nice. I didn't gamble which is good since no one I know won any money when playing. The food served during our conference was very good, though. The conference rooms were good temperature and nicely set up to handle the large group and presentations. The staff itself wasn't the friendliest. It wasn't until the final day that someone actually said "good morning". Valet parking is free, but tips are certainly appreciated. They do have self parking close to the entrance. The fitness center was very nice with treadmills, ellipticals, cycles and free weights. read more

Must be the Summer Heat. Traffic's Down and so is the payout. Little secret the Tribal Compact says their casinos pay 80-85% but everyone knows it's often lower because it's not regulated by the state. We-Ko-Pa is a great place to visit but if you want to gamble - go to Vegas - their payout rate is 90-95% It's really a shame. The best alternative in the valley is Gila River Lone Butte. The food's not as good but they are often more generous to their customers with free play and slot payout. Middle management seems to be really trying at both with new machines and advertising, but the payout is going to restrict their growth as the baby boomer population shrinks. These are the two best casinos in the valley but they can't compare with even the older casinos in Vegas. read more

Wow! I don't know why I don't come here more often? This casino is beautiful, bright, clean, open and airy, the opposite of most others. It's a nice space with a large variety of slot machines and some table games.they have some really nice restaurants right off the gaming floor, and a great size sports bar to watch all the action ( which is great during playoff weekends). The main bar area in the casino is very large and well equipped with a variety of local as well as domestic beer and spirits . Bartenders were so friendly and welcoming. This is strictly a review of front desk service. My husband reserved two rooms for me and my daughter. Unfortunately, there was a problem because he did not put our names on the reservation. The reservations clerk said she could not honor the reservation. That I could understand. What was unreasonable is that she left us floundering as to what to do. We did finally get hold of my husband who changed the reservations. The clerk then neglected to provide the second room. When she finally provided the keys, she left the station instead of providing directions to the rooms or Wi-Fi info. Lots of eye rolling and heavy sighing. The resort itself was fine. I doubt I will stay there again though. read more
