That being said, we paid nothing and hopped the boat to see Hamlet on the Rock, well, on Alcatraz to be more precise.

Radio Gatsby brought life to our Microsoft corporate event!…read moreI hired Radio Gatsby for a Microsoft corporate mixer we hosted at The Dawn Club in downtown San Francisco, and they were absolutely phenomenal. The venue has a speakeasy vibe, so I requested jazz and they delivered it perfectly. Before the event they sent over an entire book of songs to choose from, and I picked a few I liked and left the rest up to them based on my direction. It was perfect. Their versatility and ability to read the room really stood out. Noam was fantastic to work with leading up to the event. Everything was seamless, professional, and handled with care. The band showed up early with great vibes and positive energy, and they immediately helped set the tone while I focused on final setup. They brought life to the happy hour. Everyone loved them and they were a huge part of what made the event such a success. I highly recommend Radio Gatsby and will absolutely hire them again for future events!

Radio Gatsby absolutely crushed it at our wedding and we are still talking about it!…read more We had a solo pianist for the ceremony, a quartet during cocktail hour, and a full band for dinner and dancing. Every part of the day had its own perfect vibe and they nailed all of it. They played every song we wanted and steered completely clear of the ones we didn't, which honestly meant so much to us. Our guests would not stop raving about the music all night and weeks after! We loved every second of it. The dance floor was full from start to finish. If you are looking for musicians who will genuinely make your day feel like YOUR day, book Radio Gatsby. You will not regret it!

    * * * * R&B & Ribs Event * * * *…read more Note to self: Wear Depends next time! Cuz the VIP restrooms were phuckin' disgusting - it wasn't even 6 pm and the toilets were overflowing (wouldn't flush), no TP, no hand soap left, and the sink was clogged. The worst part? There were only 2 women's stalls so the line was longer than the GA porta potties. Now that I got that out of the way, I'm SO glad my friends were down to go to our first R&B & Ribs event to re-live our hey days! Fun fact: R&B & Ribs was created by two SF chefs (Nopalito + Outta Sight Pizza)... to have DJ friends play R&B and invite chef friends for a cookout. The event has significantly grown in popularity (for good reason) and has turned into a huge block party with dancing, sing a long, and headliners. And, this year, it was Keri Hilson, Lloyd, and Soulja Boy!!!! The block party is 2 pm-10 pm with the after party held inside the club stage until 2 am. Tickets: Three tiers * GA: Long line to get in. GA area started to get packed by 5 pm. * VIP: No line to get in. Closed off areas to the right and left of the main stage. Got shoulder to shoulder packed by 8 pm. * Skydeck/Rooftop: No line to get in. Elevated outdoor rooftop/deck area that overlooks Islais Creek, Bayview Rise mural, and the waterfront. You have access to all other areas except seated ADA section. 110% worth the extra $ because it's limited capacity AND there's plenty of room to dance! Food vendors: MZF BBQ, Adjective Animal Tacos, Gumbo Social, Prubechu, Akus BBQ, Sticky Business, Smokin D's. Onsite resto: Madam Zola's For 2 am drunchies, they had a handful of street vendors outside The Midway. I respect the hustle but the dirty dogs had no bacon (!!!) and taqueria fare we tried were ehhh. (+) The Midway's staff was awesome! Quick responses via email and kind in person. Shout out to Tyler and Emma! (+) As someone that's claustrophobic and avoids large crowds, the skydeck/rooftop option is a game changer. You get to enjoy the energy of the large crowd while having breathing room. (+) Plenty of bars to get your drank on! Nomi inside the club was great to my friends. (+) Huge 40,000 square foot industrial indoor and outdoor area for block parties...there's a nice lounge area inside with plush booths and proper tables and chairs to enjoy your grub. (+) Great sound system (RiDE) with powerful bass. (+) Regular, clean restrooms available inside (lines were hella long tho). (+) Free street parking! We easily found parking 1/2 block away at 3 pm. My sister and her friends came later at 5 pm and found parking 3-4 blocks away. (-) Not enough security and too lax. * One fight broke out below us and one girl in the sidelines got punched in the face. Not one security personnel to be found. * VIP wristband checks were inconsistent, allowing people in without access. (-) No bar or restroom access in the skydeck/roofdeck. Super inconvenient and limited our alkie consumption. PLEASE change this! Overall, The Midway is a solid event spot for a mini music festival with an awesome sound system, multiple indoor + outdoor spaces, and industrial warehouse vibes. See ya next year at the 2027 R&B & Ribs event! P.S. - Wear comfortable closed toe shoes! Sure, you'll look hot in 5 inch stilettos but after an hour, you're struggling like a baby giraffe on roller skates.

So yeah. It be like that. Hennywaze, the place is dope, and I have literally never had a bad experience here. People are always awesome, albeit weird, but hey, aren't we all a little weird? Yes. Are some of our "weirds" a lot more fun and less creepy than others? Yeah hell yeah. Now do yourself a favour and make sure you're the fun-weird ^_____^ This place got a buncha different stages and usually has a buncha different DJs playing at each stage, so you can get your fix of whatever it is you're looking for, depending on the night and what the beez kneez is. Well, I hit my quota for the next couple of years, so see ya later maligator! LuvYou ;)

For an event space, it's probably not the most ideal, but they made it work for a small, intimate crowd this past Saturday night. It's just really cozy, if you're comfortable with that. Plus it's confusing to find. The location seems really isolated, and you need to get buzzed in to what seems like an industrial building, then find the studio entrance down the hall on the 2nd floor. The lighting and decor inside are amazing, and looking upon the photos on the wall, and the props all around, I can tell they have the ability/potential to do really great photography and events here. They even have a vertical pole right at the front center of the stage, and plenty of equipment hung from the ceiling on stage to do aerial performances. The staff for the event we attended was friendly for sure, but seemed a little less professional, and things didn't seem as organized as I would expect. But it wasn't a problem for us, just an observation. It was almost like organized chaos. Exposed and jumbled cables and wires along the ceiling and walls, a sound system that's less than ideal, a substandard concessions bar for event guests, just a quirky vibe overall. But a successful show, enjoyable for guests... it's like things are meant to be imperfect and perhaps a little "messy". And since Little Boxes Theater hosts a number of workshops and productions in the creative arts, perhaps that's what makes it unique.

The staff provided clear and helpful instructions on site (ie. remove our shoes, drinks for purchase, where to find atm machine and restrooms). We were impressed by the small space. The place was dim and comfy with a bit of haze filling the air to set the mood, high quality speakers (L-Acoustics brand) set up inside giant perforated tubes (about 9 columns total), additional speakers at the corners and ceiling of the room. Seats with back support on the soft carpeted floor, though some guests chose to lie down during the session. It started about 5 minutes late, and lasted about 45-50 minutes long. Listening to the remarkable sounds of Pink Floyd in that time frame was relaxing and therapeutic. Just to be clear, the music is not blasting in your ear in terms of volume, it's basically surrounding you with sound so you can feel it, rather than just hear it, and it's done well. A lovely experience, especially if you choose an event playing the tunes of an artist you're a fan of.

I went to Envelop not knowing what to expect based on some of the mixed reviews, and unfortunately,…read moreI was not impressed. The speakers and overall sound quality were very good, but the experience itself was extremely uncomfortable. Everyone is required to remove their shoes before entering a small room with 30-40 other people. With that many people packed into a confined space, the room did not smell very pleasant, especially when someone with smelly feet was sitting right next to you. The seating was even more disappointing. You sit on a carpeted concrete floor with a hard, uncomfortable backrest. Luckily, the show was only about 45-50 minutes long; otherwise, I probably would have gotten up and walked out. They really need to provide better seating, such as loungers or cushioned chairs. Honestly, even a basic beach chair would have been more comfortable. I would not go back until they change the remove the shoe policy and have better comfortable loungers or chairs. The sound system is impressive, but better seating and reconsidering the no-shoes policy would make the overall experience much more enjoyable.
