Crane Cove paddle boarding from Dogpatch Paddle
    Jennifer K.

This was a camp that my son could not get enough of. Had a complete blast and has attended camp for 3 sessions (summer, spring and winter) The owner Adam is wonderful, super friendly with the kids and knowledgeable of the water, tides, currents etc. which I can appreciate. My son came home understanding more about the water and paddle boarding than I even knew. He loved camp so much we purchased 2 paddle boards at the end of the season sale so we could go out together. Crane Cove is where camp is located and where they push off from and is such an easy place for beginners to learn. The counselors during camp are great, love playing with the kids and keep them safe at all times. Being in the water with his peers gave my son such a confidence boost and his hesitation about getting into water (other than a pool) has completely changed. He is officially my water baby!!

    Put your paddle up!!

We had an awesome day in the bay!! Joseph was really nice and he shared a lot of knowledge with us about wind, tide levels, and our boards. I also learned a new way to get back on my board, which I really needed. I would definitely recommend taking the tour, but you can also just rent boards from them to go out into Crane Cove, which is a really cute small beach a block from their shop.

Adam was so easy to communicate with to arrange a Kayak lesson for me and my kid. We arrived a little early and went out right away. Joey was our instructor and was encouraging, gave great instruction and made it fun! We saw an elephant seal, harbor seals and birds. By the end we only hit one buoy and nobody fell out. Highly recommend Dogpatch for your first lesson, a guided tour, or rentals. It was safe and we had a great time!!!! Just make sure you allot time to park and pay the meter!!!

My boyfriend and I rented a 2 seat kayak from Dogpatch paddle and it was very nice. Our 2 hrs trip was amazing. The staff was very helpful and friendly. He provided instructions before the trip and also let us borrow a dry bag. I recommend check the weather before plan ahead and try to avoid windy day. We're lucky that we went early morning and it wasnt windy. We had a great time and will definitely use service from Dogpatch Paddle again.

Great location, friendly service and the equipment is new. The pricing seems high but this is SF so ‍

The trip was exceptionally well organized from start to finish. Our guide, Richard, was excellent--not only in leading us through the backcountry terrain but also in smoothly handling any logistical issues that came up. I learned a tremendous amount about backcountry access, avalanche assessment, and understanding danger in the field. Having the park essentially to ourselves made the experience even more special. The food and lodging were both great, providing comfort after long days in the snow. Most importantly, this trip taught me a lot about myself and my limits in the backcountry environment. Special thanks to Richard for professionally managing my health issues during the trip while keeping the experience fun and seamless for all the other participants. Highly recommended for anyone looking to develop their backcountry skills in a supportive, well-run environment. This trip is an unforgettable experience that no words can do justice to my feelings and thoughts of my journey. It is a bucket list check off for sure and a milestone in my life. It was more than a backpacking trip, the conversations and scenery made me reflect on me, my life, and what's important moving forward. My husband is now eager to backpack and join OAC after my stories and pictures of my journey. I appreciate our guide, Mike Boyd. WOW! I'm in awe of how he led us (with a very heavy bag and a big smile) in situations that others might doubt whether we would even make it to our next camping spot, however, he did with his grit, determination, patience, and love. With our teamwork and collaboration plus sense of humor and the motto of "never leaving the team behind" made me realize why OAC is so special. I will definitely keep in touch with Mike, Richard, and some of the OAC members. Who knows I might see them again on our next adventure. I highly recommend joining OAC and start making memories.

My sister, nephew and I wanted to do Middle Fork this year and I remember it being an adrenaline rush and challenging but so fun- We picked a Tuesday so it was not crowded, but when it ended up being just the three of us in the raft with Juli, I was a little nervous, remembering how intimidating tunnel chute was- and I didn't have the security of a full raft of people to weigh down the raft and help paddle to build up speed. This just goes to show you how important a seasoned veteran rafting guide is Juli was amazing. He gave clear instructions, he was very calm, and he managed the raft like a pro. No no flipping over and no one fell out. So exciting! Now I want to go to Costa Rica and look up Whitewater excitement there and request Juli. Hope to do this at least one more time this year. If I lived closer, I would go more often. Ps- I read some people complaining that you have to pitch in to carry the raft from the water up to the trucks and from the trucks down to the water, I've only been with one company that did not ask you to do that. All the rest have always had the rafters help out in pitch-in.

While we have used different outfits lately - we had a great experience with Russian River Adventures a few years back, so we came in excited to return. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing, mainly due to poor planning by the staff. We booked for four people on a Thursday - my wife, myself, and our two teens (14 and 16)--with the expectation that we'd have two boats, which is standard for this group size. However, the team miscounted the boats that morning. When we pointed this out, instead of fixing the mistake, they pulled us aside and crammed all four of us into a boat intended for three, squeezing in an extra seat to make it "fit." Visibly frustrated, the team promised to speak with the owner and make it right (it was two high schoolers running it that day). I didn't argue and wanted to at least try to have a good time and not be that Dad. The result on the boat? A very cramped and uncomfortable setup that made the inflatable much harder to steer and navigate--especially on a 9-mile river trip. This wasn't the experience we paid for or expected based on our prior trips. The staff seemed more focused on moving us along rather than making it right. Still haven't heard from the owner. We'll likely explore other options next time around. Disappointed to see the service slip like this.

They do this particular tour on nights when there's little to no moonlight since that is when you will best see the sparkling creatures in the bay. It embarks from Miller's Boat Launch near Nick's Cove in Marshall. It's not far from Point Reyes, so if you're spending time at the seashore, this is a magical way to end your day. They begin at 8 with very detailed instructions for your gear and paddling. Between that and then launching the boats in your group, you actually get on the water about 8:45 and return to the dock around 11 pm. It was a windy and foggy evening, so unfortunately, there were no sunset views. But the novelty of paddling in twighlight in to the evening more than made up for that. We had flocks of pelicans flying overhead and once we got to darker areas, the real star of the show came out to sparkle. You can see the bioluminescence light up as you paddle or run your fingers in the water. We stopped a few times along some coves and even saw the sparkles lap up on the sandy shores. We had 3 guides -one leading, one in the middle and one at the back to make sure no boats were left behind. The ride out was a bit choppy but we had paddlers of all levels in our group and everyone did okay. The guides made sure to check in with everyone and we'd count off boats to make sure we all caught up, We got to hear information about the seashore and the surrounding waters and the local creatures. The time flew by and it was such a wonderful, magical experience. If you haven't night kayaked, I'd definitely say to try it once. I hope to travel with Blue waters again and try one of their day trips, While it's important to dress warm and wear waterproof shoes, they do provide dry bags, a waterproof top and of course all the safety gear for your excursion.
