So fun! We've been wanting to kayak the bay for ages and finally did it through Dogpatch Paddle. It was so nice. Keenan was kind, knowledgeable about the tides and full of suggestions on where to paddle. Also super helpful and went above and beyond helping us get the kayak down to the water and back. We had an awesome day in the bay!! Joseph was really nice and he shared a lot of knowledge with us about wind, tide levels, and our boards. I also learned a new way to get back on my board, which I really needed. I would definitely recommend taking the tour, but you can also just rent boards from them to go out into Crane Cove, which is a really cute small beach a block from their shop. read more

This was a camp that my son could not get enough of. Had a complete blast and has attended camp for 3 sessions (summer, spring and winter) The owner Adam is wonderful, super friendly with the kids and knowledgeable of the water, tides, currents etc. which I can appreciate. My son came home understanding more about the water and paddle boarding than I even knew. He loved camp so much we purchased 2 paddle boards at the end of the season sale so we could go out together. Crane Cove is where camp is located and where they push off from and is such an easy place for beginners to learn. The counselors during camp are great, love playing with the kids and keep them safe at all times. Being in the water with his peers gave my son such a confidence boost and his hesitation about getting into water (other than a pool) has completely changed. Adam was so easy to communicate with to arrange a Kayak lesson for me and my kid. We arrived a little early and went out right away. Joey was our instructor and was encouraging, gave great instruction and made it fun! We saw an elephant seal, harbor seals and birds. By the end we only hit one buoy and nobody fell out. This is the second summer of camp for us at Dogpatch paddle! Adam and the team are exceptional and their knowledge and love of the water is contagious. I like that they set up your camper to be safe and have confidence paddle boarding. Last year, my kid attended the kayak camp. This year, he tried SUP. We don't get out on the water much, but that might have to change now. It was the best week we've had all summer. My boyfriend and I rented a 2 seat kayak from Dogpatch paddle and it was very nice. Our 2 hrs trip was amazing. The staff was very helpful and friendly. He provided instructions before the trip and also let us borrow a dry bag. I recommend check the weather before plan ahead and try to avoid windy day. We're lucky that we went early morning and it wasnt windy. We had a great time and will definitely use service from Dogpatch Paddle again. read more

We booked a private lesson that probably was challenge - 4 adults (none of whom had been SUP'ing or are very athletic) and 2 kids, one 14 y.o. and a 9 y.o.). Adam and Tessa managed it all delightfully and helpfully. All of us had a great time and felt totally safe and in good hands out there on the gorgeous San Francisco Bay. Our kiddo has done summer camp here (100% outdoors, standup paddle boarding) for going on 3 years. The dropoff is convenient, the counselors are wonderful and my daughter has a great time! (It does end at 3 pm with no aftercare.) It's one of the few camps that she'll tolerate doing multiple weeks of during the summer. She does the beginner class based on her age and hasn't gotten bored. Definitely recommended! read more

My 11 yo just finished a week-long camp during spring break. He had so much fun learning about paddle board, tides, wind direction, water safety and animals. Dogpatch is a beautiful neighborhood, and always warm. The pod is small, about 6 kids per 1 counselor. We felt really safe. The camp counselors adhere to the COVID protocol strictly. The non-paddle activities are also good. They are very creative about having kids play together and interact but still maintain the social distance. Unfortunately, I missed the Friday BBQ. I heard the spare rib was awesome. The Friday Olympics was a lot of fun. This is exactly what we need after a year of stay-at-home order and distance learning. We will definitely sign up for summer camp! read more

My 11-year old attended the Beginner Kayak camp at the beginning of April and had an absolute blast! He learned how to Kayak, pay attention to the tide pattern of the Bay, the weather, saw lots of wildlife, and enjoyed hanging out with a super nice group of kids. Camp leader Joey is awesome! I'm so happy they offer camps outside regular school breaks as well. We're looking forward to more camps in the summer! read more

Rented boards with a small group of 6 people on Saturday. Staff was very helpful even before we got there sending us electronic waivers to sign in advance and other basic helpful information to make our time on the water more enjoyable. All the equipment is top quality and staff was proactive in answering questions about the equipment, routes and water/wind conditions. Crane cove is a real gem of a place to try out this amazing new sport and Dogpatch paddle are the people to make it happen! The online rental process is easy to reserve the board you want for your desired day and time. I was really impressed by the level of detail on their website, and I found their FAQ, maps and general information about paddle boarding so helpful as a nice refresher for beginners. On the day of our rental, we showed up about 15 minutes early and were able to get our board, life jacket and dry bag with no issues. They are located a block from the docking area, so get there early for street parking before it fills up for game day. The staff is friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back and I look forward to booking more rentals in the future. read more

The new shop is such a great addition to the neighborhood! It's conveniently located right across the street from Crane Cove Park and the beach. Dropped by this afternoon to rent a paddle board and to pick up some snacks. It was my first time paddle boarding, and I just wanted to try it out and see how things would go with my 3 year old daughter. Adam was friendly and gave enough instructions to get us started. Really awesome SUP lesson with Cora this morning, with myself and one other student. It was a beautiful day with calm water, and since there were only 2 of us it felt almost like a private lesson. As a beginner it was great to get used to maintaining my balance and be taught how to turn, stand up/go back down to knees and proper handing of the board before heading out independently (hopefully sometime soon!). She also answered our questions, helped us perfect our form to avoid injuries and maximize strength, and explained how to check water/weather conditions for safety. I had a great experience here as a first time SUPer. The instructor got me set up with my equipment, showed me beginner stances, oar-holding on land, and then we got to spend lots of time on the water exploring the bay. I also got to lots of info about equipment, tides, safety - very knowledgable instructor. Felt like perfect mix of getting comfortable with the sport and exploring and enjoying the water. I booked a 2-hour kayak outing with guide (Joey) for 10 people, 8 adults and 2 children. Joey helped walk me through the options, and communicated after we were booked to help us get the most from the experience. The kayak trip was so fun! Joey gave us brief instructions on the beach, and we were off. We navigated along the shore, and we all had a great time. We saw a family of 5 seals on one of the piers nearby. I myself, had had some experience with a kayak before, so I was able to power our kayak by myself even though my wife had recently injured her hand and couldn't help. I would recommend Dogpatch Paddle - - we were mostly on the beginner side, but it felt like an adventure for all of us, some of whom were from out of town. read more

Fun Sunday morning on the bay thanks to dogpatch paddle! The five of us rented two tandem kayaks and a paddle board and spent about an hour and a half on the water, paddling up to the Giants stadium and back. Everything was easy and the views were great. We also saw a seal near the end of our trip. The owner is a longtime resident of the neighborhood and helped us plan our route based on the status of the tides. False website advertising! This store advertised a significant sale on kayaks (specifically, Oru kayaks), with every indication that the sale price is available now. However, just to be sure, I called to make sure the boats were still available, but was then told that the sale wasn't until Aug 20th (two weeks from now!). Most people, understandably, would simply go to the store and presume that this sale price was available, only to be told that the price is hundreds of dollars more. I complained to the store manager via email, and was told that she would read my message; I included a screenshop of the link and downloaded advertisement, but have received no response. I cthen alled back to the store, and was then told to "just go to the more GENERAL website for the "more accurate"' description -- something no consumers would generally do when they were searching on google for a specific item, as I was). I do believe this is an unethical way to draw people into the store. Be wary of advertising by this store! read more

We reserved 4 kayaks for 2 hours. Excited to test drive the Oru foldable kayaks, they were great and lightweight, easy to carry across the street and launch. The launch beach was very protected and the water was nice a smooth and we had a nice paddles around the pier and back. 2 hours was the perfect amount of time to leisurely paddle around and explore and make it back. We also were very please to see they had sunscreen, water and snacks for sale in the shop too. Will definitely do this again. read more

I'd been wanting to give Stand Up Paddleboarding a try for a few years. The opening of Crane Cove Park with its sheltered bay access heightened my interest. After watching me stare longingly at all the paddlers on our frequent visits to the park, my thoughtful husband gifted me a SUP for Christmas. Despite my enthusiasm, I was a bit nervous about getting out on the water; I had no idea what I was doing, no SUP-owning friends to go out with, and I hate trying new things in front of a crowd . Enter Adam Zolot and the Dogpatch Paddle Club's private group lessons. The fact that the club offers the option to rent a board as part of the lesson made it easy for me to recruit friends to try it with. Adam was incredibly responsive and accommodating in our communication about arranging the lesson. He had the rental boards set up on the beach and waiting for my friends on arrival. He covered the basics with us on dry land, but made sure to get us out on the water quickly to maximize our time on the boards. He was diligent about checking in with each of us to make sure we were comfortable, and his tips and pointers on technique were delivered gently and constructively. Adam is an easy-going presence who immediately felt like one of our group. He had plenty of advice and knowledge to share about how to read the wind, water, tides and currents, as well as where it is safe to paddle. He peppered the conversation with tales of his own adventures on the water. I felt completely safe and comfortable throughout. It is clear that Adam has a passion not only for the sport, but for community building and Dogpatch Paddle Club is succeeding at just that.
