I am a builder of custom homes and multifamily apartments. One of few women in the field. Weathershield convinced me to try their windows for a $2M custom home. It was the worst disaster you could have. A year and a half after install I still have 10 drastically leaking windows. They refuse to honor their warrantee and I have a $60,000 multi-slide that was installed incorrectly resulting in 1/2 inch gaps between panels and no panels that can actually move. It is a fire hazard because you cannot open the multi-slide. I will be filing a large claims lawsuit for $160,000 that was paid for the windows and doors and will be sharing this review and filing a complaint with the NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) (I am a member) and the SCHBA (I am a member locally as well). Weathershield was sold to Pella...and they too do not return my 10 calls and dozens of emails. DO NOT BUY PELLA OR WEATHERSHIELD YOU WILL REGRET IT. They will never get anymore business in my area nor from anyone I speak to. read more

Worst company to deal with especially when they made their own mistakes. I had ordered 20 windows from Weather Shield because their authorized dealer was knowledgeable. I placed the order in January 2025. Three months into production, I was told that Weather Shield engineering team made a mistake and undercharged me. I had to pay the extra fees in order for production to continue. April comes around and I am notified that the windows were ready for pickup and installation only to find out that 2 of my windows were missing grids. After installation, 2 windows wouldn't close properly, and 4 arch windows were manufactured properly that 3 different installers said they can't do it. After a lot of back and forth from me, to the dealer, to the manufacturer (I had called Weather shield personally, and I was turned away because they only "deal" with resellers not the customers), Weather finally installed the missing grid in June and fixed the 2 windows. The 4 poorly manufactured windows have yet to be fixed. I was forced to keep my scaffolding for longer than needed because of Weather shield poor quality control. My home renovation completion date is pushed back because of their carelessness. At least own up to your mistakes and make it right for the customers Weather Shield. read more

We absolutely LOVE the look of the glass wall system. It's truly stunning. This is our 3rd year having them and 3rd time calling for a repair. Customer service just plays the blame game. It's ridiculous. To spend $25k on a door and not have the company stand behind every single thing is ludicrous. The door keeps dropping mm in the same place every year, which makes it hard to open. The first 2x they sent repair guys that were amazing. Then this 3rd time they said "it looks like there is a sag in the beam which is an installation isssue". A sag in a steel beam? Never heard of that. Our contractor is going to come look at the door and see if he can fix it, at our cost. Once you buy the door, you are on your own. RUN from Westhershield. We did lots of research before buying and should have gone with the Nana wall system. Weathershield reviews were iffy but the local sales guy, Jim Pasquerelli, assured us they were reputable and solid. In summary, a beautiful product with zero customer service when it inevitably fails to operate correctly. read more

We had 13 windows installed and every single one had issues with gashes in the wood, nail holes in trim, paint wearing off, plastic flimsy parts, broken seals, and one window the glass broke within days of install. We are two months later and nothing has been fixed! We had the ws rep out and then he quit immediately and no one seems to be working for them anymore. They want us to find a painter to fill the wood gashes and paint them over. They take ZERO accountability and we had nice Anderson windows. I would run from this company!! Absolute garbage. Our windows are 7 years old. They started having condensation issues around 4 years ago. The condensation used to go away, but for the last year(2 years for some) the condensation between panes doesn't go away EVER. 4 casement windows are worthless, condensation that doesn't go away. Multiple panes in 5 of our double hung windows as well. We also have multiple windows with weather stripping coming off. They offered to send replacement panes, but would not cover the cost of labor, paint etc... WE have their premium series and they are awful. Huge waste of money, and the customer service is terrible. If there was a zero option, that would be the number that I would pick. when my house was built, we were talked into buying the weather shield brand rather than purchasing Pella or Anderson. Perhaps there was a monetary reason they were being pushed ... I don't know but we sure didn't get a deal. Since the house was built, almost every single window has been replaced due to seal fracture ... in some cases, windows were replaced a second time. Yes they are guaranteed for 20 years BUT the home owner still has to pay for the installation which can be significant. There is NO way that I would ever recommend this brand of window. read more

I am glad I only purchased one Weather Shield "premium" double hung window to start and check out their quality. The weather stripping on the bottom and side of the window has either completely or partially come off and the window is only a few months old. There are several videos on line comparing Weather Shield to Marvin, Pella and Anderson, however they pulled the Pella video right after Pella purchased Weather Shield. The Weather Shield window seems to check many of the boxes highest AAMA ratings with the quality of the aluminum an paint finishes etc. All that is great on paper but does not mean much if the window does not last or perform (even a few months). Maybe at one time the founder made these windows with great quality and care but that sure does not seem to be the case now. I hope this video helps someone not make a huge money mistake. My contractor shimmed the window and it does not seem square. My finished installed window has a small gap in the right hand upper corner that I can feel a draft coming from and I put a piece of toilet paper up in that area and you can see the toilet paper blowing in the wind. Today it is -1 degree and my 62 year old original windows with the storms will probably do as good as a job as the WS. Weather Shield hides behind their retailers and you can not go directly to them with ANY issues. Boohoo you stink WS! read more

Run, run, run away from Weathershield window products unless you love that London fog effect from pane failures. They simply are unable to make a seal that might compare to a Velux skylight which has much more dramatic temperature deltas yet do not fail. Additionally, the WS sills are made from finger jointed Poplar. Cheap and they rot within as little as three years. We have replaced (at great expense) perhaps 20 different pane failures over 18 years and we have 20 to go including a kitchen window that has water vapor dripping inside the failed seal and a sliding glass door that has already been replaced 2x. Keep in mind that their warranty is pro rated, that you will hold the bag for finish and installation. We truly loathe this company and their product of inferior quality at a premium price. read more

My second order of weather Sheild windows were cut the wrong size. They were off by 1/2 in height on 9 windows on a 10k order. I am quite disappointed in them and waiting on my vendor to see what they say. The windows are already installed so in order for them to make it right they will need to take out the windows and tracks and replace them with new ones that are the right size which I paid for. I do not know if they will be willing to do that so it is already starting to feel like a nightmare. Please let me know if you have had this issue and how it was resolved? read more

I bought weather shield windows in 1999, i was given the builder own lifetime warranty. Every time I had a warranty issue they were difficult to deal with, it often took weeks to get them to cover simple defects in material and workmanship. Recently, I had a sash rot due to a seal failure. They will not cover the repair. Weather Shield told me in writing "The builders own home warranty, essentially, covered your units for 20 years which is the industry standard life expectancy of a window or door. Being that your windows are over 20 years, all warranty has expired. I apologize for any inconvenience. " Their current warranty is 20 for material and workmanship and 30 years for wood rot, you would think the lifetime warranty would at at least be as good as their current warranty. There are lots of window companies out there, I would pick one that treats their customers well and honors their warranty. read more

Very poorly made double hung windows. The tracks are flimsy, the counter weight and locking cams give out in short time. Getting new parts is a nightmare. Will probably just replace these broken windows instead of repairing them. read more

About 15 years ago I installed WeatherShield windows in a new addition and throughout our 55 year-old house. The windows were of generally good quality, although from the beginning the cranks on the casement windows, and window mechanisms have been difficult to maintain, and several have broken. At about the 10-year mark the seals on three smaller sealed windows began to fail, showing condensation between the panes. And this year, at about the 15-year mark, the seals on a large picture window in the new addition failed, and most of the window is blocked by condensation between the panes. Our local dealer indicates that we should only expect about 10 years usage before the seals fail on WeatherShield windows. I guess there's a reason WeatherShield guarantees their window seals for 10 years, and not beyond. (And I can assure you the replacement windows are extremely expensive! So if you are going to buy WeatherShield window, just be forewarned! read more

Several years ago we purchased the Legacy Windows for our new home from Weathershield in Medford, Wisconsin. We have had nothing but a bad experience with our windows. After countless emails and phone calls I recieved the following response from the Weathershield Windows company: The picture that shows the sill detail tells me there isn't any type of thermal break in that aluminum sill cover which is allowing the cold to transfer to the interior of the window. This is what's causing the condensation and ice build up on the interior of the window. Higher humidities in the house when it's cold outside will cause the ice to form on the inside thus discoloring the sash parts. The only way I know of preventing this from happening is to replace the aluminum sill cover with one that has a thermal break built into the aluminum. Unfortunately this is not covered under the warranty. We also purchased French Doors which have had a condensation problem from the beginning. The two other doors we purchased have been replaced. The windows and french doors are a bit more costly to replace. I would recommend that you steer clear of Weathershield Windows products. read more

Poor quality doors and windows and HORRIBLE customer service - non-existent, nothing but runaround to wear you out so you'll give up and go away. French doors - seals failed on both doors almost immediately and caused the wood to warp so they don't fit or close properly. Warranty service is poor as well...still trying to get them replaced two years later. Local dealers will not service this brand anymore. Every other brand I've had over many years has performed better. Don't throw your money away, I would never buy from this company again. Read the complaints and reviews on the BBB of Wisconsin...the problems are all the same - terrible quality products and even worse warranty service that covers next to nothing, after telling you how great their warranty is to get you to buy. I purchased Weather Shield's Signature Series Double Hung Windows with laminated glass from AIROOM Architects and Builders in Lincolnwood Illinois. AIROOM was the product dealer and installer. The windows were installed early spring of 2019. So I have had the opportunity to see how they perform through spring, summer, fall and now winter months. From the very beginning they have been a disappointment. The Midwest Weather Shield representative and manager from AIROOM both have heard my concerns. Neither of them provided any resolution, discount, nor apology. I'm STUCK with them. I didn't mind paying the extreme cost $$,$$$ for the windows. I even sacrificed my 100 year old maple, oak and birch interior window trim because I was told AIROOM do not install replacement windows, only new construction windows. And it was my understanding I was purchasing an excellent product, one of the best windows in the Midwest per conversations with AIROOM sales and planning teams. Losing the antique window trim hurts me more than the money. In short, they do not perform as I understood they would. I was told by the Weather Shield sales representative the laminated window glass would provide sound reduction. I live on a very busy traffic intersection and business district. I originally had vinyl replacement windows with a removable screen. Well, needless to say my old vinyl replacement windows performed just as well as or better than the NEW Weather Shield windows in terms of sound reduction, had a tight even closure and the window screens were stronger and better engineered. The Weather Shield windows close unevenly, some close tightly and some don't and the window screens can become dislodged from the window on windy days. See attached photo. I thank GOD the window screen that blew away didn't hit anyone. But easily could have there's a busy intersection and CVS Pharmacy parking lot adjacent to my building were people are always coming and going. I never had these issues with the cheaper vinyl windows. Also, because my construction project has taken over a year to complete the window decals were on the windows for months...ok .. *free* advertisement too. I regret purchasing our new slider doors and windows from this company. Our slider doors had faulty glass which caused internal fogging and it took MONTHS to replace. The replacement required new decorative trim on the sliders, and the company sent the wrong style trim multiple times setting us back once again from the completion of our new home and from enjoying it this summer. There seems to be NO VALUE on customer care and timely, efficient fixes for THEIR mistakes. I would give 0 starts if it were an option. Their warranty is a joke, do not believe them. Their communication is a joke! I have 8 sliding doors that are issues. They send me the panels to be replaced, and the carpenters have all told me and Weather Sheild/Crestine/Crestwood/Menards, that the frame needs replaced. just replacing the panels, does nothing! When they were informed, they said they no longer made that frame so they couldn't send it. therefore I ended up being SOL. paid the carpenter and currently have the windows covered with plastic to save the outside elements getting in. I live in Iowa, they were aware and were going to resolve the issue. They haven't resolved anything. Customer service is a joke. When you call them, it will go to voicemail. We built a home 9 years ago. Only 2 months after moving in, more than 40% of the panes seals failed. We have had more seal failures, mold, condensation problems. I had contacted the company many times, and they were indifferent to the poor quality crap they are putting out. They did very little to help us fix the problem. These windows even had some missing weather stipping from the factory. Poor quality control. Some of the windows are in such poor condition, we will have to replace most of them within the next five years. read more

In March 2018, I purchased two Weather Shield sliding patio doors and two glider/slider windows through a reputable family glass business. This was the Aspire Series and the sliding patio doors were $2,500 each. Both sliding doors were very drafty and did not provide a true seal when closed. The glider/slider windows also had drafts, but not as bad. I called the company that supplied & installed all the units complaining about the poor quality. A third party company representing Weather Shield came out to inspect the problem and acknowledged the poor seals on all units. Addition weather striping was ordered and installed and did a good job on greatly reducing the drafts. However, on one of the sliding patio doors, the drafts continued & again I called the company that represented Weather Shield asking that a manager come out to solve this problem. In checking when he may come, I was told that more weather striping was ordered & that the manager would be out in a few weeks. I question why I have had to go through as this as I was under the impression that I had purchased high quality windows that shouldn't have had to replace the existing weather stripping and add more weather stripping. Today (11/11/2015) I contacted Weather Shield to request a replacement part for one of the Weather Shield windows in my home. I was told by "Brandon" at Weather Shield that since the window is 21 years old and that this is the first time this particular part has broken (there have been other parts that have broken over the years) they would not be supplying me with a replacement part. I explained to Brandon that my Weather Shield windows had a lifetime warranty on hardware. Brandon stated that the part that broke (a Tie Bar Guide) had lasted just fine for twenty-one years and that, it now breaking, did not demonstrate a defect in workmanship or material. I feel that a company that sells a product with a Lifetime Window Hardware Warranty should back a window's hardware for the life of the window. Brandon and Weathershield will not. The clause of their warranty pertaining reads: Window Hardware (Lifetime) Weather Shield warrants that ProShield window hardware shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for the LIFE of the structure into which the window is installed. In all cases, the customer will be invoiced for the replacement hardware at the regular price and full credit will be issued when the defective hardware has been returned to Weather Shield. read more
