I'll be honest, because of the prices I was very reluctant to spend money here. As a matter of…read morefact, I walked out of that store years ago after perusing a few bikes. I'm glad I came back! I walked in awhile back and dropped off a Shwinn hybrid. Ben did a "tune-up" on it for me. Did 50 miles at Little Miami Scenic Trail with that bike. Damn near killed me. After seeing so many other "real" bikers pass me with ease I made up my mind. My first bike was a Cannondale Synapse. I wasn't too happy with that bike. Went back two weeks later and upgraded to a Specialized Tarmac. Yeah. I went from a $299 Wal-mart hybrid to a $2,100 professional road bike. I see and feel where that money goes. Huge difference. Ben was great at helping me understand what I was getting into and never once pressured me into buying anything. He actually turned me away from a $2,800 bike! It took some time to get use to these bikes. I had pain in my back, knees, butt, neck and wrists. I tried to be cheap and that was a mistake on my part. I got smart and bought biker shorts, shirts and gloves. After just a few weeks of riding and getting my posture correct my body started to adjust. Ben gave me pointers on how to sit in the saddle and a few other little tricks to help. I came in at least once a week and not once did anyone mind me there asking questions. It wasn't long before I started riding like a pro. Best upgrade was purchasing Specialized shoes and clips. I took Ben's recommendations and it paid off. My speed and endurance really enhanced. I was able to do a century on Little Miami Scenic trail. Understand, it takes time, patience and commitment. If anyone is trying to recommend you something, it's because they know you will not enjoy your experience if you lack the proper accessories. It's a serious sport! I've compared their prices to competitors both online and brick and mortar. They are on point with their prices.

They $65 a month later the barrels lost grip and now I still have to get new barrels put on the brake lines. I'm done with Montgomery Cyclery and will take my business to Resor Bicycle in Newport on Monmouth Street and no longer worry about what I as and pay for!!!

IMO, the best bike shop in the area. I live in Loveland, but this is where I come for everything…read morecycling. They fixed my bike that I bought at a Loveland shop (it had some problems related, in my opinion, to a bad build). Repair / mechanics services here are good, but they do get very backed up in peak season. I liked them so much that I came to Bishop's to buy a bike for my 7 year old, passing up some cheaper options (Dick's, Target, etc). Sales and fit process was very good. That was a great buy (it's a Jamis); that bike is a high quality item and has been trouble-free despite a lot of use. When my daughter outgrows it, it will have several other owners before it is done. They specialize in Jamis (not exactly a household name but I'd recommend checking them out), Felt, and Bianchi. Location is convenient; they are in downtown Milford but only 2 minutes from the Little Miami Bike Trail. Getting a street parking spot right in front of the shop has never been a problem. I am loyal to this shop and would recommend.

I recently got back into cycling after a hiatus and purchased a used hybrid bike that no longer…read moreshifted properly. I had used Bishops in the past, and since I work in Milford, I dropped the bike off and was told they would do a tune up, and remove and clean the trigger shifters/replace cables and that would solve the problem. 2 weeks and 180 dollars later, I pick the bike up on my way home and go out riding the next day. The shifters still did not work. Thumb triggers just went to nowhere when pushed. Called and they said to bring it back up. I pointed out to the tech that judging from the dust around the assembly, it had never been removed from the bike. He looked at my ticket and told me they would take care of it. Surprisingly the next day they called (Saturday) and I again picked up the bike on my lunch break. No apology, but they said if they didn't work that we could replace the shifters. Uhm. didn't they test them? Next morning I go riding. The shifters are working! But... they were put on in such a way I couldn't get my fingers into the top trigger by sliding as they were too close to the brake. And on top of that, there was a sticky substance on the bike seat. I wasn't paying much attention and wasn't too concerned, but when I sat down I found I literally became glued to the seat. When I got off the bike, the top layer of rubber came off and stuck to my pants. The seat was ruined. It was an old cheap seat. I didn't really care, but what an inconvenience. Stuck it back in my hatchback and it sat there until they opened Tues morning. I wheeled the bike in, and asked to speak to someone about my experience. The young female tech promptly adjusted the triggers. I calmly told them about my seat. I explained that this was my third time back and expressed concerns about the quality control there. How does a bike leave the shop without the main issue being fixed, then with shifters assembled so that they are unusable? I asked them how I could trust that I actually got the "tune up" services that I paid for. I pointed out that little things, like my downturned front reflector, weren't even properly adjusted during the safety tune up (aren't they supposed to go over everything?) and that if they couldn't be bothered to take the time to do that, how was I supposed to have confidence in the other tune up services and adjustments? The three employees just stared at me. No apologies. No reassurances. Silence. Until one guy said only this "we didn't spill anything on your seat." Ok, I said. But it wasn't like that when I sat on it last time and it was only here and the back of my car... They continued to just stare at me. No offer to help me find and purchase a new seat, no apologies for my three trips, no rebuttals to my quality control concerns, no offer of compensation for my hassles. Ok, I say, I just wanted to let you know I'm not happy with the service. I slowly turned my bike around and went out. The entire experience was unbelievable. This shop seems to have serious issues with quality control, customer service, and overall accountability. I'm so disappointed. Bishops when my pal Chris L. used to work there was a high quality establishment and it's a shame it's gone so downhill. Please if you come here, check their work in the parking lot. If I'd not gone off site the two times I picked up the bike and test rode it, I would have avoided a lot of hassle and their calling me a liar about a 10 dollar seat.
