Sunday was our 2nd annual birthday party at Webster Timberlanes in Abington. It was easy to make a reservation. Lou gave all the details and prices. I had a choice of pizza or a terrific looking menu. The food was delicious. Everybody was very helpful. They answered all the questions. We forgot candles and somehow they came up with candles for us. Last year was just as good as this year. The game room was very popular with young and old. My wife and I attended a "Luci's with Love" valentine dinner that was a first event for Timberlines. The food was delicious!! A buffet including Prime Rib, Pork , stuffed mushrooms, garlic mashed, vegetables and desserts was available. The food was really delicious, the owner John, the new chef Sean and the wait/bar staff was super friendly and highly attentive. I have been here before for pizza, wings etc but tonight's event was better than most other venues in the area that my wife and I have dined in. Did I mention the food was excellent? I'd encourage everyone to attend their next event and of course, stopping by for pizza, etc is not a bad idea. read more

The cons: No air conditioning, I was hot in there. You can't bring drinks from the bar into the bowling alley... so it's kind of like they don't have a bar. I paid $21.50 for two adults and a child after using the children bowl for free coupon. Now the video games. They're not real games. They're all skill less ticket games like Deal or No Deal or just a game with one button that gives tickets. For me this meant another 5 bucks so my child could push a button and get a small toy. It also meant that he didn't want to stay put and bowl because there were games. Pros: It was open. Only one of the employees was surly. read more

It's been six years since the last review. I figured I would update. It's almost as if this place is frozen in time. It's still a little worn, but it's still really affordable and Phil is still doing the amazing online deals in the summer. My mom wanted to bring her hoard of grandchildren out for an affordable time. I suggested she look to see if the lanes were on sale for the next day, which was a Friday. They weren't but the lane was $40 for six people, including shoes. Still a pretty good bargin if you ask me, and it's for 2 hours. She had me book it. Literally only 20 minutes later, I get an email from the email list saying it's 90% off for the weekend. Although the lane is non-refundable, I figured I would call and ask if I could get the better price. I think I talked to Phil, but I don't know for sure, which doesn't matter because as soon as I said I had just booked prior to the email, he was already telling me to rebook because he refunded my original purchase. So, I booked two lanes for about $8. He didn't have to, but I appreciate him doing so anyway. Phil is a stand-up guy who runs a great business. On Friday afternoon, we had the place to ourselves, so the hoard was loud and had a great time. We had a ball return breakdown and it was fixed in minutes by a really nice young guy. Then the bumper was knocked down by one of the boys with bad aim... Ooops! It was fixed quickly. The kids wore themselves out and we had money left over to make a DQ run. All in all, it was a good day. On a previous occasion, I did visit their bar. They had a few board games and pull tab lottery games. They serve some bar food (fries, wings, etc). Nothing amazing, but it's made in one of those frying machines and decently priced. The drinks are also decent. So, get on the email list, book a lane (or two) and if you get the really good bargins, go to the bar and buy a round (or two). read more

This place is a throwback to the early 1980s....alas that was probably the last time anything new has been updated. After a few strings my group went to the Squire's Loft, big mistake. The bartender was a friendly guy, but the rest of the staff made things very uncomfortable, namely the owner and his drunk son/nephew. Since we were there the owner felt he was entitled to pull up a chair without invitation and tell us his life story. Then his drunk son/nephew began to act like he was one of our group, fortunately for him ladies were present. I loveeee this place. It's much cheaper than Boston Bowl. However. You are NOT allowed to use certain 'naughty' words as your name on the scoreboard. This is very unfortunate for everyone out there named Dick or Tits. Anyway. This place also has a little bar! Terrible Place!!! Isn't worth the savings, this place is old it has few arcade machines and the most is broken. But the worst part is the rude staff. The old gentleman that was working on the prize counter was very mean to my kids and he even yelled at me with attitude, because my 4 years old son was choosing the bounce ball colors. One bartender in particular was very unprofessional and rude. Night was going well until she tried to insert her opinion to try and ruin the night. Owner doesn't even question his bartenders just goes off of their personal opinion. Owner doesn't even question his bartenders choices even if they are based on personal feelings and not for the better of the business or safety of others. I've bowled here a bunch of times! This is a great place!! They always have a groupon running fro time to time, too!!! They have Squire's loft attached and there is always a lot of people in there when I'm bowling..I'm not a big drinker so I don't know much about the bar part. But, the bowling is great! They do have moonlight bowling..I'd give it 5 stars. But, it would be much cooler if on Saturday nights they would have much more hipper music! They would definitely get more people in there! Maybe like switch it up and have like an 80's night or 70's night..Not everyone like's oldies. I was so bummed..I wanted to have my Birthday there..and it turned me off. This place kicks ass. It's a nearly-perfect combo, actually. Bowling + attached bar + internet-reservation specials = awesome. If there were a couple of pool tables, an arcade, maybe a hookah bar...I might never leave. We've been here twice so far, and both times have been a blast. If I could stop sucking at bowling, it would be even better. In the meantime, this place is great for practice. The guys that work here are friendly and helpful, and the bar has Megatouch games. Megatouch! I haven't played those games in forever, and they're a fun diversion while taking a bar break. Also, neon orange and yellow bowling shoes are win. I love them. read more

Just left timber lanes me and my husband were horrified with the service. Me my husband and son were talking to the older gentleman and were rudely ignored. When i entered i said hi how are you no response my husband asked about an arcade game that was broken thank God there was a younger man working there that helped us because again the older gentleman acted if we had not spoken. As we were leaving we said thank you merry Christmas again no response. I know he heard us because i speak loud. I think the older man may be racist. How are you going to let a 4 year old say thanks merry christmas and just ignore him??? What a heartbreak the first time in this area i have felt really shunned because of the color of my skin. read more

First time here and maybe last time as candle pin bowling is not my thing. But if you are into candle pin bowling, then it would be a good place to come. I just didn't like the fact that the lanes are outdated and the machines and scoring are all manual (if it's like that in all candle pin bowling) then I guess It's all good. read more

Bad experience, way overpriced for bowling to start off. Then no explanation on how to runs their scoring computer. Most candle pin alleys in the area have auto scoring which is great for kids and you would expect that since this place is more expensive. To top off everything that was aggravating about our trip out they shut off all the computers a half hour before our time was up. Couldn't give us any scores back and with a group of kids it took us over an hour to get as far as we did. No explanation or even an apology just "oh I thought you were part of the party you can keep playing if you want" Really? We can? I used to come here all the time as a kid and had a great time after moving out of state and returning after years I wanted to bring my new family here to have good time. Long story short they haven't done any improvements for 20 years it seems and the staff is rude I found other new bowling venues that are much better now and a lot cleaner. read more

Pros: very affordable compared to other bowling alleys. Cons: we went on "moonlight Oldies night". There was no "moonlight", only darkness, and no live DJ or band, just piped in moldy oldies. We had a great time bowling Saturday night with our kids. They loved the darkened lanes and coloured lights , and we loved the awful & classic & great '80s music and videos. Fun! Lanes and balls are in very good condition and the staff was friendly and helpful with our groupon. The other bowlers around us were having a great time as well which added to the party atmosphere. Timber Lanes is a good local cheap fun night out if you live around Abington. They do have a small bar there, so you can have a drink or two before you bowl. I won't be on bowling for dollars anytime soon, so I don't know what makes a good lane or a bad lane. The balls seem to go straight and the pins fall over, what more do you want? They do Cosmic Bowling, and Bowling to the Oldies on weekend nights. You'll have to deal with the teenyboppers on a Friday or Saturday, but there is the bar! So sneak away and have a few gin and tonics and after a while you don't even notice the kids. A good cheap way to spend a couple of hours doing something different. read more

I've driven by this place so many times over the years, but Saturday 9/4 was our first time at Timberlanes, and we were very pleased with our experience. First, we conveniently booked a lane online, and received a 90% off special, which made for a very affordable night out for two families with kids. It was Oldies night, so Gramps was having the time of his life watchin the kids bowl and listening to some of his old favorites. The kids had a blast bowling and keeping their own score, and of course playing video games. And there was a cute little bar tucked away where we could go and get, as my friend put it, "the coldest mug of beer ever". Good place to bring the kids bowling. I only wish they had a decent arcade too. We used to bring kids to Viking in E. Bridgewater that has bowling and atleast over 25 arcade games. Kept kids busy for 2/3 hours and we would spend no more than $75 on bowling and games. Stinks that they closed down. Timberlanes is also fairly priced and won't cost you as much as Boston bowl or Westgate lanes plus is more kid friendly. I just with they could add on a decently sized arcade room too and it would be so perfect to get kids out the house for a few hours. They typically get bored after 2 rounds of bowling so with arcade we usually are able to kill another hour to hour and a half playing games and spending only an extra $40 being $20 on each kid. read more

I went with my sister and my two young daughters ages 8 and 9. We had purchased a GROUPON for unlimited Cosmic Bowling..between the 80s music and videos, fog machines and lazer lights we all had a BLAST! The 2 men at the counter (possible owners) were so helpful and reminded me how to run the electronic board. Been here a few times, always with a Groupon in hand. It's a cheap, budget friendly activity and we end up having a decent time (more because of the company than the place itself). Timberlanes is dated though well kept and clean. Guys at the counter for shoes are always friendly but don't expect the free socks like Boston Bowl should you forget them during sandal season. A bummer is that alcoholic drinks are not allowed on the lanes. It definately contains the rowdy crowds and makes it a more family friendly environment. But since I don't have kids, it really detracts from the fun when you can't sip on a beer as you bowl. read more

Cheap bowling, decent prices for something to do BUT for the amount of money I paid to have my daughters birthday party- the hospitality and attitude of the mid-aged gentleman behind the shoe counter (who appeared to be the only worker) was disappointing. Also they did away with the designated party room that they use to have- so the table and chairs were set up behind the lanes- the kids meshed into another birthday party going on at the same time. I paid $35 as a deposit. Then another $170 for 13 kids, for two hrs.the deposit didn't go towards the cost of the kids. They did provide paper plates,a table cloth, and spoons. (Brought my own plates, drinks cake, ice cream and other food). When I asked the mid-aged employee for more spoons he snidely said "oh well there were only suppose to be enough for the kids" which there wasn't .... I was very polite and thankful but He had a poor attitude and demeanor. It also said they would clean up after the party and didn't. No one came over to help- or offer a hand and I ended up doing it myself. For the $205 plus $100+ for party supplies- I could have had it at a nicer place with someone more pleasant. Not the service I was use to as a kid. Disappointed. read more

Totally saved us today when our birthday party that we booked at another venue fell apart (owners never showed to open the alley!) we called them in a panic looking for somewhere to move the party and they were beyond accommodating, reserving us lanes and setting us up party tables right when we called. The staff was great and made sure all of our needs were met. Worth every penny! read more

I love this place. The only reason I've only been once is because when I went to Bridgewater I heard it was expensive. That's not the case, however. It was actually a really good deal when my husband&I went with his family for his birthday. I think it was all candlepin, which I like better anyways (I only weigh 107lbs., so even a 5lb. bowling ball is annoying to have to bowl with), and they can put the bumpers up for kids. The guy was also cool about me having to try different sized shoes (for some reason bowling shoes are always at least a full size smaller than my regular shoes), and at the end gave us a print out of our scores, which I have never seen another bowling alley do. He helped us figure out how to use the machines to keep track of our score too, since we had forgotten candlepin I guess scores differently than regular. read more
