I didn't use his services but Gary was so willing to help advise me with a roof install I just had completed from someone else. I had concerns about the install and Gary didn't need to take the time to call me but there were a few back and forth communications and he was extremely helpful to advise me if I should or shouldn't have any concerns with my previous roof install. I cannot say enough positive things about Wedge Roofing. I have worked with the company on three occasions during the past nine years, and each project went smoothly. Their attention to detail is flawless and Wedge's in-house coordination between the estimator, managers, installers, and owner Gary Harvey is impressive to say the least. They are real team players and perfectionists. Last Spring, during rainy season, the bathroom contractor who was onsite at my flat-roof Eichler home for five months abandoned me before completing installation of the two new expensive roof-mounted bathroom fans, something that requires careful coordination between the contractor and roofer. I was totally stranded. I called Wedge Roofing and Gary personally helped me resolve the problem quickly, affordably and efficiently. He and his team spoke with the junior carpenter whom I hired to build the wood "fan curbs" by phone more than once and explained the required specs to the carpenter. The day before the foam was "poured," one of Wedge's managers came out and did a site check to make sure things "were in order" and ready. And, on the day of the install, the manager came out again! A few hours into the job, he and the installers decided that extra flashing support, while not necessary, would be a good idea as a precautionary measure. I'm not sure what the technical name of the material was. They didn't have the right material onsite. They called a truck, who was more than 60 minutes away, to bring out the materials to my house. The team didn't complain about the wait once. And I was not charged extra. Amazing! Wedge Roofing is fabulous and you'll never have to worry if the job was done right or not. read more

Wedge did not make a home run at this home. Their crew did not tarp my new Blue Stone front steps - they had their air compressor sitting on a contractor's bag - and when they left the job site for good, they left behind black sticky footprints on my new stone steps. I talked with their estimator, Terry, who sold the job, and I asked him to contact Bay Area Blue Stone for guidance on cleaning my steps. Terry met me at my house with a tiny bottle of Dawn dishwashing liquid. I had picked up a stiff brush at Corbett's Hardware. As we stood there, I got the impression that he was waiting for me, the "little lady", to get down on my hands and knees to start scrubbing. I instead handed Terry the brush and he vainly tried to clean my stone to no avail. He then had the brilliant idea of getting the crew who did the damage and who had probably been chewed out already for causing the damage and who had no training in stone restoration (remember, this was a roofing crew) to come out to clean my stone. I opted out of that and instead contacted Fox Stone Restoration in San Francisco (recommended by Bay Area Blue Stone) to come out and examine my stone and give me an estimate. In the meantime, Gary Harvey, the manager, called to tell me they were a small company and they needed my final payment. He said I could hold back $500 for the stone damage. I told him that Fox's estimate had come in at $1100 and I would pay the balance minus $1100 after the stone was restored. Fox had to take off the top layer of my stone to get rid of the footprints. Then I paid the remainder of my contract. It was a disappointing conclusion to our interaction with Wedge. We had waited months and months for this job. The damage they created was so avoidable if their crew had been properly trained in protecting the property. They also created damage to the dry wall at our skylights interiorly. After the stone debacle, I just let that go. I found Terry to be patronizing to me, a woman. Let me warn women, especially those who own their home alone, that there was a misogynist odor to this man that would make me question the numbers he quotes and the provisions of the contract offered. read more

Awesome foam roof. Reasonable price. It wasn't easy to find someone in the area who would do a foam roof and at a decent price. Wedge was 50-60% of the price of a large Emeryville competitor, and without the high-pressure tactics to hurry up and schedule. Terry is a great communicator, met me on site, and was very responsive and worked with me through the entire process to maximize the thickness of our foam roof to 2", even though I'd spend a little more. A few 106 degree days convinced me to go for the maximum effect! Terry didn't oversell me and was candid about the fact that more than 2" wouldn't necessarily increase the cooling effect of the roof. I think they were out within three weeks or so in the peak of the summer improvement season, but never pressured me to sign, even gave me a week or two to settle. Thanks Wedge! read more

Wedge roofing did repairs on a significant leak at my Bodega Bay house, during all this rain we've been having. I had several other companies provide estimates, but Wedge was the fastest to respond, and identified a leak source (*clearly* a source) that the other roofers missed. The front office was always professional, and able to provide support, answers and callbacks (this was a bit of problem for some other firms, unfortunately). The supervisor, Billy, was responsive, worked with me on issues that cropped up, and kept the job within the estimate (which was the same or lower than others). I have had an extraordinarily excellent experience with Wedge Roofing and Tarry Winfrey. I manage a property as a conservator for an intellectually disabled family member. Following work by another company in replacing the roof a few years earlier, leaks developed due to poor work by the original roofers (nails not into studs), and I contacted Wedge Roofing. They made themselves available immediately during the storm season. They determined that only limited repairs were necessary and not a new roof. Made the repairs efficiently and for a completely reasonable price. When other problems developed with the original roof, Mr. Winfrey and Wedge Roofing were there again quickly - again, during storm season, and provided the necessary repairs quickly and efficiently. The prices we have been charged are more than fair. During these times, Mr. Winfrey was on site and made sure that only the necessary work was done. He was in regular communication with me, and he worked with my disabled relative which is not easy. Tarry was patient and worked diligently to be sure that he and his team completed the work to everyone's satisfaction. I cannot recommend Wedge Roofing highly enough. This is the second time that I've used Wedge Roofing. They show up when they are supposed to, are careful to get everything tarped to help in clean-up and they left the place in good shape. Wedge installed a new foam roof on my low-angle roof last fall. They did a good job of removing the old asphalt and gravel roof, spraying on the foam, and applying the silicone outer layer. It was terrific that the foam application could be done with my solar panels intact. Also, they arranged for a partner to install a new gutter and were super helpful in working around my exterior painting project to make that happen. The only thing I wish had done better was that they raised my skylights higher by a few inches to accommodate the foam (I didn't know that was going to happen) and their carpentry on the modification was pretty raw (they lifted the skylights up on rough 2x4s which are visible from my living space, and are not quite square to the skylights so a bit of an eyesore from the interior). The roof protected my house 100% through last winter's storms, and the careful angling of the foam ensured that all the runoff got into the gutter and away from my foundation. I was very happy to have their roof on my house through all of that rain! read more

In October 2016 I had Wedge replace my large roof that was in need, with a new lightweight genuine slate roof. Wedge was chosen after interviewing several roofers, and it turned out to be a great choice! This was a big project that took several months. They did an excellent job in every way. The crew was so polite, hard working, and cleaned up completely every day. Their attention to detail was great. Every single slate is fitted in perfectly, and all the trim looks great as well. The Sales Manager that worked with me was also great, that is Tarry Winfrey. He was in regular communication about every detail as needed, and his taste in choosing colors and material was valuable. We have a 1911 house in SF that had a 30+ year roof on it. I had called several roofers seeking to see if it could be repaired. Several were unwilling to visit for a potentially small job. Wedge, however, responded promptly and provided a thorough recap. While the roof needed to be replaced, I did not feel up-sold, rather I had photos and info leading to a correct decision. The contract, material selection and scheduling process were smooth. Calls and emails were returned promptly with appropriate responses. During the work, the team showed up on time and worked hard. The job site was left clean each day. We had a change order for work I requested, which was accommodated within the schedule. The best surprise was that while we anticipated some contingency for damaged wood or other surprises, it was not needed. While that is a testament to the house, it is also easy for contractors to find ways to increase their invoice by finding extra work. Our experience with Wedge has been exceptional. They accomodated our need to move quickly on part of our reroofing in order for us to go solar before the rebates for solar expired. Despite being swamped, they were able to do that part of our roof separate from the rest of the job. The second part of the reroof was more complicated, involving some structural repair and a different roof material, which was all done quickly once our plans were confirmed. John kept us up to date on the scheduling and followed up on the finished product. All of our concerns were met with an eagerness to see the job finished above and beyond what we expected. I recently used Wedge for a somewhat complex job. I was having solar panels installed concurrent with the new roof and I also added insulation after Wedge stripped off the old roof but before they put on the new surface. The job was scheduled a few weeks ago when thunderstorms appeared in Sonoma County, throwing a huge wrench in the works. FYI, Wedge wanted to delay the job to avoid any chance of my roof/house getting damaged but we came up with a plan that kept the house safe and dry and the project on schedule. I do have two items for others to be aware of. We had a slight miscommunication about who would fix the dry rot and a couple other items. Make sure it's clear to everyone who is going to take care of those sorts of items. This wasn't their fault and had to do with trying to get three projects done at once. Also, when Tarry told me there was an additional charge to waterproof the solar panel mounts I was a bit taken aback. However, I was on the roof for much of the job and they really earned the extra money on those solar mounts. Their crew put a considerable amount of time and effort into the mounts so I understand why there's an additional charge. I highly recommend Wedge and would not hesitate to call them again. Everyone on their crew was professional, thorough, polite, and they picked up every last bit of debris after the job. I wish I could say the same for the other two vendors. Oct 9 Update. We recently had our roof replaced and Solar installed by Wedge Roofing. I question their ethics since they tacked on a change order for work that should have been included in the overall price. If you decide to work with them beware. They will overcharge you and then they will find a way to tack on another couple thousand dollars in change orders. It took them several months to finally schedule the installation. They also promised enough roof area for solar panels and then, after the contract was signed, informed me that there was not enough room for all the needed panels. Overall, not impressed. Shop around and beware before doing business with these guys. read more

We had Wedge Roofing come out to repair leaks in our roof. They sent 3 workers, who worked just under 6 hours to repair three leaks. Our charge was $2,800 - over $150 per hour for each worker. One full season later, the roof started to leak again in the SAME PLACE for two of the three leaks. They informed us the warranty was for just one year , and that we would need to pay again to have it repaired. After posting this review, and speaking with the General Manager, a repair team was sent out to repair the leaks. I have upgraded my review from 1 star to 3. read more

I had Wedge Roofing reroof my house in Marin a few years ago. The house had the original roof on it which was going on 25 years with 15 year composite shingles, even thought it had never leaked in 25 years I thought I would be proactive and get it done before I got a leak, that was a mistake. The first rain we got there was terrible leaking that ran down into the first floor, they came out and said that the problem was in the vent box on the roof and that wasn't part of the roof job, I explained that in 25 years we never had a leak and after they did the work we had terrible leaks. They said that they would have to redo the vent box and then gave me an estimate of $4000! I refused to do more business with them and got Marin Roofing to do it for less than $1000. Also I got the bill for the roof they charged me for a second layer tear off, which there was only one layer (as it was the original roof) and had to get the guy that came out to do the estimate to admit they made a mistake on the bill, pretty sure they to do to everyone and then credit people when called out. I would never ever use Wedge Roofing, not even for re-roofing a dog house, if you care at all about your place don't bother, I don't know how they got Diamond Certified at the time but I guess that's a poor reflection on the Diamond Cert people. Our roof leaked worse than ever. Wedge Roofing put a new roof on our home, all seemed o.k., in August. Then came the first big storm. Wedge had not caulked a siding/roof seam and water poured into our dining room, damaging the ceiling. We called, them came out, caulked, then sent us a bill for nearly $1,000. Never mind that that gutters were put on sloping away from the downspout. We went with Dipaula Roofing for the next job on another house. Dry as a bone, started & finished on time, and thanked us for giving them business. read more

As of 3/5/16, a tile that was re-installed by Wedge became loose, flew off the roof, and almost hit someone walking by. We notified Wedge, and this prompted immediate action from them. They came out ASAP, and even the President of the company got involved and personally came out to address the issue. They reviewed the work that was previously done, and identified that the popout roof was indeed not repaired per the specifications of the contract (which is what I insisted the first time, and they argued with me, see the response to my previous review!). This time when they removed the tile on the popout, they identified a noticeable hole that was allowing water to get in to the side of the house causing damage to the window frame. They repaired the popout, and also removed and re-installed all of the tile on the main roof to make sure that was not neglected as well. I will have to post some pictures later, but the before and after of their previous work, to their current work is remarkable. I can't believe it was the same company, and I wish that we would have gotten the second team the first time around. The re-installed roof looks like what I would have originally expected. Nice and even, and securely attached with minimal mortar. Overall I'm glad we finally have this resolved. Once the popout was fixed the water leak reduced to a minimal trickle. They came out again to perform a water test to make sure the remaining leak wasn't the roof. I wish they had performed with this level of diligence the first time around. Instead they just blamed the stucco. If my experience with Team #2 was my first experience with Wedge, they would have earned high marks. Unfortunately, we had to live with a leak for 2 years. Thankful that we finally got their attention, and they made it right and also agreed to pay for the internal damage. read more

My new foam roof is great! I have an exposed beam ceiling with no insulation, and the foam roof has made a huge difference. It's been a month since installation and we've had both cold, foggy weather and a heat wave in Mill Valley. The house retained heat and wasn't drafty in the cold and was easily 5-10+ degrees cooler during the heat wave. Terry Odgers came out in February to bid on the project and was extremely informative of my choices regarding improvements to my gutter system and options for replacing a skylight. He was honest and weighed the pros and cons and never tried to over sell me. The late rains this year caused scheduling to be delayed, communication was clear and professional. The guys that did the job were professional, clean, communicative and a pleasure to have around. I highly recommend Wedge Roofing. read more
