This is a 9-hole course owned by Upper Saucon Township that was designed by the renowned Donald…read moreRoss. The township condemned it in the early 2000s to save it from becoming a McMansion development. The first 3-4 holes are wide open and not too interesting. Some lack visual "definition" so you don't really know where you are supposed to be hitting to on some shots. These holes also have large transmission power lines running through them. (Local rule - ball hitting power lines/poles can be replayed, no penalty.) However, the stretch from #5 through #9 is very solid, and I really enjoyed them. It actually seemed like the first 4 holes were by a different designer or added on later, since they are different in character from the last 5, but that is not the case. All greens are small and can be very challenging, especially if your approach shot lands above the hole. There are only maybe 3 or 4 bunkers on the entire course. It seems like the landing area on #7 probably gets very swampy after rain. The whole course was in pretty good condition, no complaints there. Each hole has two sets of tees for each color, so that the holes can be played differently the second time around on a 18-hole round. It is cheap to play. I paid $14 to walk 9 holes on a weekend afternoon. The course's webpage lists rates from 2006, but they are pretty much the same now. I don't know how crowded it gets during peak times, but I was one of about 6 people on the entire course when I was there. The "clubhouse" has a bar/snack shop. A very friendly guy was operating that and working as golf cashier/starter.

I have played Fox Hollow Golf Course for over 4 decades on and off. I would not call it a luxury…read morecourse. The owners have put a lot of money into Fox Hollow to make it more attractive. Weekday rates for seniors military is $35. This is not in golf terms a "dog track". Many challenging holes. Greens are quirky but in good shape. It is a place to play with fellow golfers to enjoy friendship and a round of golf. I have had no issues with any management negative personalities which was not true long ago. Go out and enjoy a round of golf without breaking the bank. Parking is adequate. The restaurant is adequate, not fancy. Cash or credit cards.

I started my day by going to the range and found that half my range balls were cracked or chipped. On top of that, I felt like I was golfing in the Sahara Desert because there was no grass to hit off. When my tee time actually rolled around, you would've thought people were golfing for free because I had to wait about 25 minutes just to tee off. Unfortunately it did not get any better- every single shot I had to stand and wait, and the groups in front of me were waiting as well. I spent more time talking to my group and playing side games between shots than actually golfing. I'd highly recommend looking for a different course instead of going to this place. I will never be coming back, and I hope you take my advice and go elsewhere.

For my next trick, let's tackle the other side of Melody Lakes - Chip & Putt…read more As I mentioned in other drivel from seven years ago, ML is about as old school as old school gets. Part of that is good because anytime you're talking about something that is priced like it was years or even decades ago, that's rarely a bad thing. The problem with that can be....what's the catch? The catch with ML is simply the condition of the course. I can remember playing here as a kids decades ago and even back then, you knew there were issues. Brown patches on the greens, choppy uneven greens, they gave up on their #3 sand trap forever ago, the "fairway" on #5 turns into a swamp if it's rained anytime within the past week and my favorite....the green at #8. #8 has a problem that also affects some of the other holes and is caused by the local residents of Melody Lakes. Those residents would be the Canadian Geese that hang out on/near/by the course. To put it mildly, the greens & grass get coated in goose crap to the point where it's impossible to putt without hitting multiple "cigars". It would be a smoother putt if you lined up down 309....when it's getting repaved. I guess this gives the course "character" and "adds to the experience"? Here's what works. The pricing. It's still $5 for 9 holes and then $2.50 if you go around again. Holes range from 43 to 95 yards. But, some of the carpets are also interesting as they are uneven to say the least and two of them have tees (not sure why you would use a tee at a chip and putt course) that are so tall that maybe they're usable for Joel Embiid but the rest of us would need to be doing a modified lumberjack chop. There are only so many chip and putt courses in the area and conditions aside, this one is a classic. Low prices, during the week it's never busy and it's about as much fun as you can have for an hour for $5, legally. melodylakesgolfcourse.wordpress.com www.mscorecard.com/mscorecard/showcourse.php?cid=14152105907141045
