Hole #9 Par 3. Big drop par 3, really cool!
    Ty A.

I would give it a 4 BUTTTTT, in all fairness I golfed in November and expected the only dislike to stand true for the time of the year. Such a beautiful golf course, and venue. Played 18 with my buddy and it easily is the nicest we've been to so far, (being we just started golfing 4 months ago). MY DISLIKE, the green were superrrrr stiff and rolled incredibly fast. AGAIN, I played in November and from what I'm told they do alot of maintenance around this time so I am fine with rating it a 5 pending greens on a good day. Beautiful fairways, amazing par 3 holes and overall just a gorgeous well kept course. Some of the Par 5's were challenging and as a "newer" golfer it helped me change my game. Alot of high-to-low tee box to fairway shots, unlike most courses I've played in the Lehigh Valley so far. I look forward to this being "the course" for me to play often even though it is 30 minutes away from me.

Great facility, beautiful grounds, delicious restaurant. Have an event held there every year and Sheila and the crew are terrific.

Super easy to make a tee-time. Go to the website and chose the date/time/number of players and after creating an account, you're done. Sort of surprising that they don't make you put a card in to hold the time like several other courses do on their reservation portals, but because of what comes next, I understand why. buttervalley.teesnap.net/ A few observations: Make sure you read the fine print that the rates listed are cash only rates. If you're paying with a card, you will eat their processing charges. The course for being in January was in about as good of shape as you could expect. Good amount of mud along the pathways between holes, most of the greens were like concrete, most of the cups were filled with ice, etc. Supposedly, we had the second tee time of the day, yet magically, there were already four groups of four out playing. Hmmmm? The first few holes were log jammed but eventually the spacing thankfully improved on it's own and things got better. Here are my two pet peeves. None of the markers were out. Orange tee is where? White tee is where? The yellows were there but anything else required a bit of guess work. Here's the biggie. The yardage for the holes. The score card says X. The stone marker at the hole says Y. A few of the holes (a few par 3's from what I remember) have a marker in the ground at the tee which says Z. Why is it this confusing to just list what the yardage actually is versus having a 20-40 yard swing? Conceptually, Butter Valley is basically the cousin to Sawmill in Easton. Is this course really 4 stars? Probably not, but, I'll give it to them because they stay open year round which is a plus and you cannot beat their winter pricing to walk 18. We'll be back.

Markley Grille was a real treat: homemade meatball sliders and fries were outstanding. Why eat a hot dog.....aye carumba ! Reading the reviews about ranger harassment was NOT the case. 9-minute tee time separation reminded me to keep our play brisk. The rangers DID make sure we had cool water on three occasions - even on the 17th hole. We fixed our ball marks and a few extras; raked the bunkers as well. One bunker was in bad shape; not sure why. My understanding is that the carts are tracked electronically. Any reminder to players about pace of play is not biased. One practice swing on the tee box will serve you well. The greens at BVGC are not that hard to read. No need to do that [stuff] seen on TV. To those players who had a less than positive experience: remember to do your part and enjoy golf as it was intended. The option is to play at a country club for obscene money - if they would have you as a member. Respectfully, CH

Not to mention the 100 year old rangers are useless in having players keep pace. Had a solo player in front of my foursome who was hitting 4 to 5 balls each stroke. This held up the entire course. Advised rangers of the issue and they did nothing about it. Complete incompetence. No water coolers on course. Avoid and go anywhere to golf other than this dump.

Review of Twin Ponds Golf Course…read more We had a 12:04 tee time with my husband and two 16-year-olds who are just learning the game. Because the course was packed, we played best ball to keep things moving -- and still, we were waiting on walkers in front of us at every tee box. Mind you, we were playing from the reds. By the 4th hole, the group behind had caught up. I explained we were waiting on walkers, only to be told we should "take longer between groups" because my husband hits long. Ok, noted. On the 6th hole (a par 5), we had to wait at least ten minutes for two groups ahead of us to clear. When it was finally our turn, we played our best ball into the middle of the fairway -- just a short pitch to the green. As we were setting up to take our next shots (literally as the walkers in front of us stepped off the green), an older couple came flying up in a cart, shouting that we were "slowing the whole course down." When I tried to explain the obvious -- that we were waiting on the groups ahead -- the man cut me off with, "We are the owners." Instead of showing any courtesy or addressing the poor scheduling, they picked a fight with us -- in front of my kids. Here's the kicker: on the 8th tee, after being told we were holding everyone up, my husband teed off a little quicker than usual. He drove the ball onto the green in one -- nearly hitting the very group in front of us. Someone could have been hurt because we were now anxious and in a hurry. My take, Mr. and Mrs. Owner: Your course is one of the worst-kept around. You're cash-only, which feels more than a little questionable. In an area surrounded by golf courses, you'd think you'd treat paying customers better. If you don't want backups, manage your tee times instead of berating families who are actually following etiquette. And Mrs. Owner -- maybe check your lipstick before shouting at patrons, it was all over your teeth and cheeks. Bottom line: you ruined what should've been a fun round for my kids. We'll gladly play elsewhere.

Played for the first time today after having several people rave about the course…read more The other comments are correct, this course rewards accuracy, not length. It's possible to drive a few of the par 4 greens. Most holes are a driver and a wedge in. Most holes dog leg one way or the other so it really pays to know the course. You want to know which holes you can bomb a driver and which ones you have to use a wood off the tee. So many new courses that go up these days are building themselves to host future PGA events and make it impossible for a weekend golfer to shoot a solid round at it. I, for one, appreciate courses that are accessible to golfers of all handicaps like this one. In spite of a brutally dry spring so far I thought the course was in awesome shape and well maintained. The greens were green, the rough was cut down to a reasonable length and the fairways were great. What struck me even more about the place was how the owner was up front, taking calls, booking tee times and welcoming people to the course with enthusiasm. You just don't see that at older courses these days. He was working the register himself on a weekend morning. He was a complete mench and seemed thankful you were patronizing his place. The wait staff he hired was also extremely friendly. These are a few of the little things that make you want to go back to the place. Can't wait to check out the indoor facility during the winter. I'll be back....many times. Great job with this place.
