I loved my stay here, staff were very friendly especially Chelsea who checked me in. Steve the shuttle driver was very nice and friendly. The other guys and gals art the front desk were nice too. I generally give thumbs up to all staff. The facility was very good and well kept, the housekeeping were very detail oriented. Left my laptops, money, and other valuables in the room and nothing went missing. Very trust worthy. The landscape looked magical during winter, do check out the wildlife refuge and auto museum. They have free wifi and in the business centre they have printing services too. Kitchen was closed during winter so can't say much about dining. In summer you get mosquitoes all over Alaska, so proceed with common sense caution. Also, all hotels require you to call in from courtesy phone at airport to inform them of the pick up. Common sense rule applies, call them as soon as you get out into baggage claim. So that by the time you get your bags, they are there. I went in the middle of winter, temp was -34 deg and the pick up came in 15 mins as promised by Nancy. I will definitely stay here when I come back to visit Alaska. This is my home away from home. LOVE IT.

Stayed here for 4 days during our trip to Alaska. Had a 2 bedroom 1 bath. Apartment Room was nice, a little outdated but we didn't spend much time in our room. Nice TV's in every room. WiFi worked great. Beds were comfortable, pillows were awesome. Came equipped with everything we needed for our stay. We were able to make breakfast and coffee. Full size refrigerator. Freezer worked great...quickly chilled our drinks. Room had a pullout sofa bed so that was nice to have the extra sleeping space. 1 room had 2 beds the other 1 bed The apartment could sleep 5 people comfortably, more if you don't mind sharing a bed. The hotel has property connected to the back of it. We walked the trail leading to the lake. Very nice. We enjoyed our stay here. Not bad for the price.

    Lake on property!!! Nice trail!!!

I loved my stay here. The room is a little outdated but having so much room made it worth it. It is a big apartment style space. You have your living room, kitchen, bedroom, big walk in closet, and bathroom. They have pots and pans and dishes in the cabinets, so you can cook your own meals. Full size stove and refrigerator. The help was great, I had them come in twice a week and bring me clean towels and change the sheets. They would also vacuum, dust, sweep, and clean bathroom once a week. The only problem I had was after we checked out they told me we hadn't checked out and overcharged me. It took about a week but we did get our money back. Also if you like to cook out, do not bring a charcoal grill here. You can use a gas grill outside on the pavement by your vehicle. Do not use grill or smoke on the balcony, you will get in trouble.

If you are grading Chena Hot Springs Resort, look at it as two completely different entities. The…read moreresort itself is firmly in the average-star range, but the legendary natural hot springs are a 5-star masterpiece. The property itself is a bit of a mixed bag. It has a rustic, old-school Alaskan wilderness charm, but the amenities and lodging options are showing their age and need some modern updates. The rooms and facilities are basic, and the dining is decent but unexceptional. That said, it is a convenient home base for activities like the Aurora Ice Museum northern lights photography in the wild. The outdoor Rock Lake hot springs is where it completely redeems itself. Soaking in the natural, mineral-rich geothermal waters while surrounded by the freezing Alaskan forest is a bucket-list experience. The boulder-lined pool is massive, and walking along the sandy bottom to find your perfect temperature spot is relaxing. Pro tip: If you don't want to commit to its older lodge rooms, the resort is an easy 60-mile drive from downtown Fairbanks along Chena Hot Springs Road, making it a perfect candidate for a day trip. Keep in mind the outdoor rock lake is restricted to adults, which keeps the soaking environment incredibly peaceful and quiet.

Review for the restaurant only!…read more Appreciated finding them open for breakfast when we were in the area recently. They were not at all busy, friendly service but a tad slow. We ordered the Little Chena and Big Chena. I definitely recommend going with the Big (or opting for the potatoes and toast with the little), as there was a big difference in for what you get for the cost if you make the error I did with the Little...one pancake and 2 eggs for $17.50, that was a dumb mistake on my part. As for the food, pretty good overall. Eggs cooked, potatoes, and bacon all cooked well...pancake a bit rubbery for me.

ITS A SCAM! DO NOT BOOK HERE!…read more This is an overpriced hostel. They have no actual restaurant onsite and only have a microwave sandwich. This is not advertised in their "Luxury" desciption. Room is a Motel 6 room. Two pillows per hard, lumpy bed. Even Motel 6 gives you 4 per bed... They also force you to remove your shoes, you are not allowed to wear them inside the building or to your room. They force you to wear slippers. This is not posted online. Walls are filthy, I don't ever know how you mess up a wall so badly. Check out the pic. Then they force Covid rules and restrictions like masks and 6 foot social distancing but then force us to share a fridge and table with strangers? 100% scam, do not book here! We are fighting out travel agent and CC provider to combat these thieves with with false and misleading advertising. $600/night is a total scam!

Our car was only one in parking lot. However we found out later other people were staying there. Maybe using cab service? Just found whole situation odd including the slippers they asked guests to wear while in building. Over priced for what was offered.

We came to Alaska to experience it as Alaska should be. I didn't want to walk out my door to a long hotel hallway. Instead I walked out of my cabin to a snow filled wonderland with wilderness and a pond. One where instead of needing a tour guide I could stand by the pond in front of the cabin and see the northern lights. Jim and Syd are amazing people with more hospitality than you can imagine. Jim made us a wonderful breakfast every morning from scratch not a frozen bag. The conversations were always exciting. They would both share their stories and experiences, tell us what not to miss and what the area held. When other guest joined us it was as fun to hear their stories. Way more interaction than at a typical hotel. Remember to read the description. These are dry cabins- no water, no toilet, no sink. Like I said earlier, know what your booking. However the shower house is less than a minute walk from each cabin and it is warm and clean plenty of hot water and toiletries. Not a big deal at all. I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and enjoy this! Listen to Jim and Syd and ask for their advice and use their expertise. Our last day Jim took us ice fishing on the pond which was amazing in itself, but then he invited us to the house as he cooked up the rainbow trout we had caught and made us lunch! Perfect ending to a perfect trip!

Or step outside for the real light show, all of your pictures will be perfectly showcased with spruce trees and snow banks . Jim even wakes you up so you don't miss the Northern Lights! Don't miss fishing with Jim and the tasty fish dinner he prepares later that night for you. And that rice, off the hook good. This experience will be a memory maker for you. Again, DON'T MISS IT! Every morning from 7-9 make your way up to Jim & Syd's breakfast table. He offers some of Alaska's best down home cooking! The chat with the two of them is wonderful. They both exemplify hospitality! The best was making new friends with these two super fantastic and gracious people! Their energy and love of the land is contagious.
