I rarely leave reviews like this, which makes this even more disappointing to write. Dr. Arakawa has been our children's doctor for the last 9 years, and he is truly exceptional. Both of my daughters love him. He is intelligent, compassionate, patient, thorough, and has the kind of bedside manner that makes families feel safe and cared for. We have trusted him for nearly a decade and have recommended countless people to this practice because of the incredible care HE provides. Which is exactly why the behavior from his office staff today was so shocking and infuriating. I received a phone call threatening collections over a bill that I had ALREADY communicated multiple times would be paid at our next appointment in just a few weeks. Not ignored. Not refused. Communicated. Yet instead of being treated like a loyal, long-term patient and human being, I was treated like a problem. What made it even worse was the complete lack of compassion, accountability, and professionalism from the office manager. The office blamed the billing company. The billing company stated the office makes the decision. Back and forth, finger pointing, excuses, while speaking to patients with absolutely zero empathy. Healthcare offices need to remember that patients are not account numbers. We are families. We are people who have supported your practice for YEARS. People who trusted you enough to recommend friends, family, and loved ones into your care. To be spoken to in a cold, dismissive, and threatening manner over a balance that was already being handled felt incredibly disrespectful and honestly dehumanizing. Dr. Arakawa deserves a staff that reflects the kindness, professionalism, and humanity that he shows his patients every single day, because right now the front office experience is damaging the reputation of an otherwise amazing doctor. read more

100% Discriminated at Wee Pediatric!! I was looking for a new PCP for my granddaughters. I called Wee Pediatric, they were accepting new patients, schedule them for their appointments but I needed to change their PCP on the medical card. They were foster kids but now I have legal guardianship on my granddaughters. The only one can change their PCP is the social worker. When the social worker called to change thePCP, and Wee Pediatric realize my grandkids were foster kids, they were denied to be a patient there. The office manager exact words were, "WE DON'T TAKE FOSTER KIDS" I blew up, I ask the manager, I want it in writing why your office not accepting my grandkids. I kept on asking her to put it in writing she was ignoring my request, finally she said ok, we will considered taking your grandkids. I was trying my best not to be a "Karen" Long story short, I decided not to have my granddaughters go there. I don't want them to be where they not wanted. Does not respect parent choices if you know what I mean. Wanted my preterm baby who was 5 weeks early and only 4 pounds to get the hep b vaccine when there are absolutely no safety studies done on preterm infants. I said no. Refused to see my child again. I left in tears. You absolutely MUST follow the cdc schedule to be seen at this office. Can't even do a delayed scheduled. I'm sick of these doctors forcing vaccines because they get a cut and have a quota to meet. SMH. read more

Dr. Wee has been my children's pediatrician since birth. We have nothing but positive things to say about her and her staff.

First off, the receptionist team is amazing. As the first point of contact, I was truly impressed by their professionalism and friendliness. They were eager to answer questions and offer help/assistance with insurance inquiries and appointments. They rock! Dr. Wee and Dr. Arakawa are awesome! It's a group practice so we can see either of them, which makes confirming an appointment easy. The down to earth team made me feel comfortable asking 1000s of questions regarding our first newborn child. I would definitely recommend Wee Wellness Center, especially if you want to avoid driving to town (since they are located in Waipio). read more

******UPDATED REVIEW******** Subtracted one star because my son had a complete physical 18 days ago and I didn't bring the 7th grade Physical form that Hawaii Department of Education requires for incoming 7th graders (I didn't know it was required since the middle school will not mail out form until they send out final report cards in two weeks. However, the school said I can print it out online if I want the form sooner). When I called the dr.'s office to inquire if I can drop off said form, I was told that a fee of $10.47 will be charged to fill it out, whereas it would have been free if I brought it with me to his exam. We've never been charged for this before at any of our old Dr.'s offices. It's not my fault the school doesn't have their crap together. So disappointed. read more

My husband was a patient of Dr Wee when he was a child so it was a no brainer when we had our children that we would have Dr Wee as their pediatrician as well. Fast forward to today, Dr Wee has taken on so many things to help the community so it wasn't a surprise that my kids would be passed on to a new doctor. At first I was unsure of having a new doctor, but Dr Arakawa has exceeded my expectations and calmed my anxiety. He speaks to the kids in a way they can relate and understand what's going on. My son is 14 and my daughter is 6. When I say he can relate, he is just great with my babies and I appreciate that. My kids look forward to seeing Dr Arakawa and we are so happy that he is here to help. Btw- he's very engaged with the community as well (you can find him on commercials so ask for his autograph. Called their office and ask if they take new patients. For Pediatrician they ask what kind of insurance HMSA, I was surprised this Pediatrician for kids don't take patients who have HMSA. And when I told them I have another insurance, they still won't take you in because the patient is under HMSA. I was trying to say to the Nurse that HMSA insurance is not the primary. I have been taking my kids (all three) to see Dr. Wee for almost 3 years. I have never had a problem with ANYTHING in her office until recently. Her staff were always nice, able to schedule appointments, and prompt to answer any questions I had. However, I recently had an appointment with Dr. Wee to go over some blood work for one of my kids. After calling me to confirm our appointment for the next day, someone from her office called me back later that evening to let me know the appointment time needed to be changed because of another commitment the Dr. had. No problem. They left a message because I was at work (I work nights), and asked that I call back first thing in the morning, when they opened. Well, I get home from work at 6am, and they don't open until 8am. I stayed up the extra couple of hours (after working a 12-hour shift, and having to work the same shift 12 hours later), and called AFTER 8am to reach them. The office phone was still on "after hours", so I wasn't able to reach anyone there. Okay. I'll just call them later, after I wake up from sleeping. NOPE. Three hours later, they had called me FOUR more times. I guess they figured if I didn't answer, they should just hang up and re-dial. Each of these phone calls woke me up - but I didn't answer because I was half-asleep. I have to keep my phone ringer on while I sleep because my husband can't get calls at work, and so I am the one who gets any emergency calls from school, etc. When my husband got home from work, I asked him to call - because I was so angry at the staff for basically stalker-calling me during what is my "middle-of-the-night". Their excuse was they wanted to make sure I didn't show up to the office and no one was there. All any normal person needed to do was to leave me a message - ONE MESSAGE - telling me to call when I had a chance to reschedule the appointment. If I showed up to the office after they left that message, the stupid move would have been mine. When my husband called, they asked us to come in early and we would be seen, which we did. During the visit, Dr. Wee was completely avoiding eye contact with me, and told me she thought it was best if I find a new pediatrician. Not that I hadn't already made that decision before showing up at the appointment anyway, and I wasn't really offended by her statement. What really chaps me is that in that entire conversation, she never ONCE apologized for her staff's behavior and mistakes! Have a little professional pride. That all being said, I don't have anything negative to say about Dr. Wee's clinical competency. It is the lack of professionalism and common courtesy shown to my family that leaves such a sour taste in my mouth, hence the 1-star rating. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. Super rude staff and completely incompetent doctor. I'm sure you want details, so here goes: (1) Very rude about accepting insurance and filling out paper work (2) Said that our 5 year old daughter is fat (because she showed up in the 85 percentile) and then lectured us for 20 minutes about this "disease" that is preying on society (3) Said that it would take 7-10 days to provide test results when other doctors said that they could provide the same results in less than an hour. Both of my children go to wee wellness center and we've worked with several different of the doctors there. Everyone is courteous and caring. Their waiting room has cute little toys to keep little ones busy and their check rooms are always clean and sanitary. Even though they have many patients they remember everyone and make it a friendly experience. read more

I used to be a patient of Dr Wee's myself and when I had my first child, I decided to take him to Dr Wee. Since I don't remember what she was like when I was her patient, I asked my mom for advice of course. My mom highly recommended her and it made me feel all the better. Dr Wee is very straightforward and animated. She talks with her hands and you can feel the passion that she has for babies and kids. She wants only the best for her patients even if it means pushing you as a first time parent. She has confidence that you will do the best and continue to do the best by your child. Her office is very flexible and since the pandemic started I have had one video chat call with Dr Arakawa since Dr Wee was off and it went so well. The office uses a portal to communicate with patients and so it's very easy to email with questions. They also send text reminders for appointments in case you forget to check the portal. I have referred 2 of my friends who are first time moms too and they all like Wee Wellness. read more

My 4 kids were patients of Dr. Wee as well as Dr. Arakawa and we loved being there for 4 years. If we could've taken them with us when we moved we would've in a heartbeat. They were always very friendly, were happy to answer any questions I had, showed concern for all my kids if there were any problems, and the staff & nurses were always great. We have been with Wee Wellness eversince i had my 1st child (10 years ago). What we like about them are their friendly staffs, very clean office, short wait time, great doctors!!! My family and I have been coming to see Dt, Wee for well over 18 years, We love that she knows us and our children always keeping our health in check and providing the newest medical information available. We have never had a problem with scheduling an appointment same day nor future date. Management and staff are friendly and efficient. We wouldn't go anywhere else. Dr. Arakawa has also been taking care of our son, He is on point and direct when he comes to his medical care. Our son loves him. All the Drs at the Wee wellness center are so awesome and knowledgeable. I've never had a problem scheduling an apt for my kids. I like how the drs will follow up with me after a testing was done. Weather the results were good or something was wrong. At other offices I've waited a couple of days without getting a call back and when I follow up the assistant informs me the test results were negative that's why I never got a call back. But now it's nice to get a call even if it's negative just so I can have some piece of mind. All the staff is nice and friendly as well read more

All 3 of my kids have been with Dr. Wee since they were babies. I trust that Dr. Wee wants what's best for my kids. When Dr. Wee is not available, Dr. Arakawa sees my kids. He is very patient with them and have fun with them during their visits. Both Dr. Wee and Dr. Arakawa are knowledgable. I believe Dr. Wee specializes in allergies which both my daughters needed help with. When my kids get sick, the staff ties their best to squeeze us in and I appreciate that very much. Their waiting area is quite big and with lots of natural lighting so it looks inviting. They have reserved parking stalls, but there's also street parking. read more

My first experience at Dr. Wee's was exciting, I got to meet with the BF's childhood doctor and now I'm bringing my baby to the same doctor. Our first visit was when Aurora Gail was a new born, I signed in and waited in the wait room, the wait room was empty just us sitting and waiting in silence. As I looked around the room to me it had an old comfortable feel to it. Like a throw back doctors office from my childhood playing in the little log house waiting for my name to be called. We were called in less than five minutes and directed to an empty room to wait. The nurse came in and said to take off baby's clothes so she could weigh her an measure her. After that was finished we went back to the room and waited for th Doctor. Doctor Wee came in to the room in about two minutes max. She started to ask questions about baby, height, weight, and how much pounds she was when she was born. I looked over at the BF nervous and stuttered a little. Then daddy answered all the questions. I had trouble remembering anything because I had an emergency c-section and was knocked out with gas, dad was not allowed in the room. Isolated for a week and I just got out of the hospital a few days before, (now we are good I remember). She examined Aurora and said baby was healthy and we were on our way home. Doctor Wee did a really good job with Aurora and really cared about her patience, I was not disappointed and glad that Doctor wee was my daughter's doctor. read more

I saw Dr. Wee as a child and when I turned 18, she recommended I see one of her doctors, Dr. Prather. Dr. Prather is amazing. She is very motherly and caring. I'm not afraid to discuss my questions and concerns with her and she is very helpful. There has been multiple times when she would refer me to another doctor and I was told by Dr. Prather that it would take about a week for her assistant to schedule an appointment for me. This would be okay if it were true. Many instances I've waited about a month when I finally get a call confirming my appointment with another doctor. There was also a time when I had to continue to call to remind them that I was waiting, and eventually never got referred to the other doctor. Very unprofessional! read more

Drs. Wee and Arakawa are fantastic doctors. Both of them are very attentive and knowledgeable. They take their time and have a good repore with all three of our daughters. They care and have even called to check up on our children after an appointment when one of them had a rash they had never seen. The office staff is very friendly and call to change appointments if they have to with lots of advance notice. Getting shot records is easy and so are appointments. We have no complaints in the three years we have been coming. Very nice and clean facility too. A+ all around. read more

My entire family comes here for our primary care needs. Dr. Wee is the sweetest person, very knowledgeable, and you can tell she enjoys working with kids. My kids absolutely adore her. Dr. Arakawa is very personable and always takes time to talk to and connect with my kids. You know he genuinely cares about your children when he makes time to call and follow up when certain health situations arise. Dr. Prather is very down to earth and treats patients as if they were friends and family. My entire family loves going to Wee Wellness Center for our healthcare needs. I have been taking our kids to see Dr. Wee for 10 years. There was no problem with her previous staff about getting appointments or anything that schools may have needed with paper work. Since the Dr has gotten a completely new staff things have certainly changed. The staff is unfriendly, rude, and condescending. I have never been doubted when asking for a drs note for my children. We were in such a bind to get our kids seen the previous visit, that all we wanted to do was take our kids home and get out if there so we forgot a drs note. We come back a week later and the person at the desk says "you didn't get one? We usually give you a drs note when you see us. Youll have to wait until we get it approved with Dr. Wee" Are you kidding me?! Its in your records that our Dr was seen and what notes were taken down during the visit. And since they gave us such a hard time seeing our kids the last thing on my mind was asking for a drs note. I just wanted to make sure our kids were ok. Dr. Wee has been nothing but good to our children. She is indeed a fine Dr. And i highly recommend her, but her staff......... They need to get more in touch with the patients and how to treat them. Bring back Liz. She could handle all the paperwork, all the billing, all the phone calls (stop saying you're open at 8 and your staff doesn't even pick up the phones) and she knew how to interact with the patients. read more

On Monday June 6th I had come down with a really bad ear infection & I was in need of finding a new doctor because the doctor I had been going to had closed her practice. I had called about 6 or 7 doctor offices & they all were not taking in new patients or if they did, they wouldn't be able to see you until a few months, which was not going to work for me. Thankfully one of the Doctor offices had told me to call this office. So I called Wee Wellness Center & the lady that answered the call was so nice & she was able to book me an appointment that same morning within the hour that I called. I was so thankful! My appointment was at 9:45am & I did not have to wait a long time. The nurse that helped me was very sweet & nice. I saw Dr Lin & he was very nice, calm and straight to the point. I was out of the office by 10:20, which to me is quick & I like that! The office is very clean & very spacious. I would totally recommend this doctor's office to my close family & friends. ***Just one side note, parking is hard to find & you may have to park on the street, so it's best to get there about 10 mins earlier to find parking. read more

I don't know what all the negative reviews are on about because we've always been pleased with Wee, her facility and her staff. I just called to make an appointment for my kid and the nicest person on the other line was more than accommodating and kind and knew my kid's first name before looking up her file. We're not there much so I believe that demonstrates attention to the patients. Dr. Wee is very sweet and asks a ton of questions and takes the time to ensure her patients are well, happy and healthy. She asks about calcium intake and emphasized its importance in childhood and when we told her our daughter didn't like cow milk, she made sure we knew where else she could get her fill of calcium for proper bone growth by giving us a list of veggies and milk substitutes. I've never seen that before nor has any other pediatrician ever asked us about her vitamin consumption. She never rushes and makes sure our concerns are addressed. I have yet to have ever left her office feeling like she didn't listen to us. I am not a fan of MDs in general and avoid them like the plague precisely because they aren't like Dr. Wee. If her specialty extended beyond pediatrics, I'd happily be a patient too. Not that she'd see me much but nonetheless. :D read more

Both of my kids loved Dr. Wee and her original staff when she was located at her old office. Since she moved to the new location and hired new staff, everything changed. Her new staff members are so rude and unprofessional! My daughter was violently ill while away at college on the mainland, was seen by a specialist there, and was supposed to continue treatments when she returned home. Dr. Wee knew my child's medical history, so of course we wanted her to see my daughter. My child was going through a very serious illness at the time and needed to be seen, but the front office staff refused to schedule her with Dr. Wee since she had just turned18! Which left us feeling so deserted!!! So we tried on our own to find a specialist, but they require a referral from the primary care physician in order to be seen! So we had to scramble to find another doctor. Everything was explained in detail to the staff, but they were so rude and seemed so irritated and uncaring. We couldn't even get past them to talk to Dr. Wee. I don't even think they explained anything to Dr. Wee. If you are thinking of bringing your baby/child there, be prepared to be dropped when they turn 18! read more

We are very happy having Dr Wee as our daughters physician. She truly cares for her patients & it shows. Our daughter had a health scare a few months back & Dr Wee kept in touch, called us with updates & also had us set up follow ups to check on her progress. Danielle her assistant is quick & helpful too. The staff has changed but sometimes that happens. Dr Wee keeps us updated on the change in her office whenever we see her. I'm glad we have a Dr who treats our daughter with such care because finding a good physician isn't easy. Sure we get lectured if her weight is up but honestly rather have that then someone who brushes off the concerns. Dr Wee is stern & strict but she definitely knows what she's talking about. read more
