Weed Man Lawn Care Review - 03/07/2026 (Overall positive experience with one concern) 2025 was the first year we used a professional lawn care service since purchasing our home in 2018. We had been doing all of our lawn care ourselves and were a little hesitant to try a service again after a poor interaction with another "big name" provider. After researching options online, we decided to give Weed Man Lawn Care a try and overall we're glad we did. Throughout the 2025 season the technicians were knowledgeable, personable, and willing to answer questions. I have a process engineering background and tend to ask a lot of questions, and the technicians were always open to explaining what they were doing and why. While there were a couple minor issues during the season, the company generally responded quickly and worked to address concerns when we contacted them. Brittany, one of the onsite managers, deserves special recognition. She visited our home multiple times and was very personable, knowledgeable, and detail‑oriented. After my most recent customer service call, Brittany personally came out to remeasure the yard's square footage so the 2026 service program billing could be reviewed and corrected. Taking the time to verify measurements and help resolve the issue made a very positive impression. The one area that left me disappointed was the automatic annual renewal process. I did not receive any advance notice or reminder before the 2026 program was activated. During the 2025 season I had mentioned to both technicians and phone support that we would need to review the lawn size and service plan before the 2026 program began, but the program appears to have been activated automatically. When I logged into my account it showed services ordered on 12/29/2025. I do not recall placing an order on that date, especially since I had already disabled Auto Pay. This may simply be how the system processes annual renewals internally, but it was not clearly communicated beforehand. I also searched the website and my account portal for terms such as "continuous service," "automatic renewal," or "annual renewal," but was unable to find clear written information explaining how the renewal process works. Overall, the service quality and technicians have been very good. With clearer communication about the renewal process and advance notification before activating a new season's program, this would easily remain a five‑star experience. If Weed Man management is reviewing feedback, I would appreciate clarification on the company's written policy regarding automatic annual renewals and how customers are notified before a new service program is activated. read more

Hired this company due to rigorous travel schedule. Gave them a near perfect yard to maintain. Poor job all around with many call backs. Last fall they oversprayed a fertilizer which killed large swaths of turf. To mitigate, they core aerated and over seeded in late Nov. Due to lack of germination it prompted a call back. Rescheduled 3 X and when they started the fourth attempt these were the results. read more

A steaming garbage heap of liars and cheats. They took my money for the year, sprayed water on my lawn instead of chemicals (the weeds are out of control) and have missed numerous (I can definitely count at least 3--but there are more) confirmed appointments after complaining to and talking with Erika via email. read more

Upfront... I didn't have any Service provided by weed man so I can't speak to the Quality of their service or product. I did however receive a phone call on a weeknight soliciting their service. I empathize with folks that have to do cold calls for business, so I heard him out was courteous, but elected not to get any of their service. I then asked How they had gotten my cell phone number for the solicitation. I'm pretty careful to not give out my number... He told me that someone had come out to my home to provide an in person estimate and he was given my number. As I began to state that solicitors aren't allowed in our neighborhood, he just flat out hung up. If this is the courtesy you provide to someone you're trying to sell a product, I can only imagine how courteous you'd be After you have my money, and have nothing else to gain. I contracted with Weed Man of Winchester Virginia for a one year program that included liming, fertilization, and weed control. I added a special service for Weed Man to treat Kallinga and Oxalis at an additional cost. And I paid for this service and the contract in advance. Starting In June, I contacted Weed Man no less than seven times when the Kallinga and Oxalis appeared. Weed Man did not return my calls and arrived in September and treated it on a rainy day, which was ineffective since its a liquid based treatment. The Kallinga and Oxalis continued to take over my lawn and has currently taken over 2/3 of my lawn. I've since contacted Weed Man and, as of this date, have not heard back. read more

Our lawn has not been a priority for us. And you could tell. This year we literally had more dandelions than grass growing in the front and a good mix of unidentifiable weeds and grass in the backyard. Weed Man consulted with us to determine the best way to improve our lawn at a cost that we could afford. They were willing to customize their routine schedule to meet the needs of our property and our budget. When they said we would see results in days, i really didn't believe them but I have to admit that we did see the weeds withering and the grass plants growing fuller. We contracted 2 summers ago with Weed Man after a marketing call that happened to come 20 minutes after a discussion with my husband about needing a lawn service. They came out, discussed our trouble spots (there were many) and were up front with how unhappy we might be the first season but that would improve by the second season if we trusted them. Quoted me a price which was absolutely in line with what we thought it should be and away we went. They were right! We had a lot of dying spots that first summer but we stuck with it and this summer our lawn looks AMAZING. Seriously...the Weed Man works! I can't tell you how pleased we are. Never received an invoice after services rendered. A year later received one via email stating it was going to collections. Worse part is I had a pre emergent treatment for crab grass and spent the rest of the summer trying to get rid of it. I thought Trugreen was bad but they are 5 star compared to these crooks. We've been using Weed Man now for over 5 years and still have one of the best looking yards in the neighborhood. With having penned chickens, they are careful to keep the fertilizer product out of the pen and inform us when service has been done so the we don't let our birds roam the yard after service. We have recommended Weed Man to a new neighbor who is now happily enjoying a beautiful lawn as well. Prices are reasonable and customer service is top notch. I have fairly strict expectations and opinions on how to run a service based company. That said, I am starting my 3rd year of service with Weed Man and for the most part I feel service has been effective. For us Weed Man was a good, not great, lawn service. They are dependable and efficient, about on par with other companies we've used in the past. Their pricing, when we did our initial review, was a better bargain than most. We used them for about five years and only stopped because we're planning a move. Their communication is OK. Sometimes they call or email you to alert you to an upcoming service, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they knock to let you know they have arrived to treat your lawn, and sometimes they don't. They always leave a note/invoice when they depart. They try to personalize the "notes" portion of the invoice, but as a treat-and-go service the notes come across as standardized advice. They also offer discounts when you refer others, but the referral service has always been a mystery to me. It's just not clear how you are supposed to accomplish the referral. Do I call? Does the new customer tell them my account number? Something else? After your first year they contact you in the off-season to offer a discount if you sign up for the full season. But, you better open the offer quickly as it tends to be a short reply period. Our lawn improved over the years with their service. There were very few issues and Weed Man always worked to correct any concern. After five years it looks good. Not great. But, the soil here is really awful so I don't blame Weed Man. Chances are it looks as good as it possibly can. Our next door neighbor's lawn, for example, looks about the same after using a different lawn company. Oddly, I was told by another homeowner that when it's time for you to move they do not halt your pre-paid service if you paid in advance for the season. When you move they apparently attempt to continue the service. If the new homeowner doesn't want it, they stop. You can't transfer the remaining treatments or get a pro-rated refund. I was also surprised that when we didn't renew our annual plan no one contacted us to ask why or to see if we wanted to start their pay-as-you-go service. Weed Man also offers additional services to improve your lawn: aeration, insect treatments, and over-seeding come to mind, all reasonably priced. read more

We started using Weed Man's services when stilt grass took over our lawn a few years back. I get quite a few compliments on our lawn's appearance since we started using Weed Man, and we're one of the few yards in our neighborhood that is not full of stilt grass. I appreciate the service call reminders and the professional service I receive, as well as the online account access. I talked to quite a few companies before settling on Weed Man, and I'm very happy with the services I receive from them. read more

I used Weed Man from Winchester Va. for over 7+ way too long years. During that time I had a year where they literally killed my lawn. They were just learning to treat with tenacity and they really ffffed it up. After that year they started a "new program" where they could now treat many more times a year to control your lawn. Well, what they could have gotten done in one treatment has now been extended out to two three maybe even four .... up to what 10 sprays per year. They don't want you to know about Tenacity!! It is fairly new. I find them to be useless as a company to tackle lawn issues. They just try to pry more and more money from you and one never sees the results. I tried to teach them how to treat my lawn, but year after year they never treated when needed. Of course that is their plan, to extend the treatments for as long and and expensive as possible. In the end I was spending over $600+ a year and Never Ever saw the results I get by treating the lawn Myself. I now use the same product myself that they killed my lawn with, Tenacity. Tenacity is a great product that they Do Not Want you to know about. It treats lawns easily and kills most broadleaf weeds and most nuisance grasses that other products won't. Tenacity is also a pre-emergent and post-emergent. It is what is used on major golf courses. I would never use Weed Man Lawn Service again because they Failed to deliver a result that matched the Money that I spent for year$ and year$, and year$ , and year$, and Years$$.......... Did a fair job for 3 years but some of my weeds they promised to resolve are still active. Not very happy with my last call were I was basically told I needed to get on my knees and start yanking orchid Grass so that pissed me off the way it was said. So I stopped service. Good service but I questioned this grass thinking it was crab grass 2 years ago only to find out its grass type and told it would be treated 2 years ago in spring and turn around to find out it's not a weed read more

Terrible customer service. I hired them to spray for weeds. They showed up the first time with fertilizer. They finally came with weed spray. I had problems after they treated the lawn. A service manager made an appointment to come look at all the places they missed spraying and the damage they did to the lawn and driveway. After keeping me waiting a half hour after the appointed time, I called their office. He finally called me to say he wasn't coming. read more

Terrible. I have service with this group for about a year or so. Lead me to believe it would be about $150 per month, but the came multiple times and render services that I did not contract for. They are very aggressive and will force services on you. I terminated my contract . I do not recommend. read more

Last summer, 2017, was our first year with Weedman and they did an excellent job. Got rid of weeds everywhere. If I needed them in between weed sprayings, all I had to do was call and they came. We had a lot of blank spaces in our yard where no grass had been. I tried myself to get it going with little luck. They did aeriation in fall and seeded with great results. We now have grass in spots where we have never had grass. We hired them again this year. We are hoping for thicker, greener and lush grass. Kudos to Weedman!! read more

I'm thrilled with their service. They arrive when scheduled, they call when they notice something that needs extra attention, and if they treat an area that doesn't fully respond, they keep coming back until it's resolved. They offer additional services but I've never felt pressured into buying the additional service and when I decline they're OK with that. My neighbors have other weed control services but my lawn looks thicker, healthier and more weed free. Can't ask for more than that! read more

Weed Man is the second lawn care service that I have used. While they came regularly as planned and their prices are reasonable, the lawn didn't look much better. So after 1.5 years, I switched to Scotts since they are a national franchise. I think the lawn is looking a bit better. The big issue I have with Weed Man is their customer service. They claim that I didn't pay couple bills and now have turned it over to collections. It's just a hassle trying to cancel their service. In my opinion, there are better services out there. Weed Man is nothing special. Maybe if their customer service was better, I might of stuck with them little more. It's a real pain trying to deal with collections so I don't ever plan to use them again. i would try someone with better service and reputation. read more

I used this company for several years with little problem. This summer I notice a perfectly large square area on the left side of my lawn where the grass was completely burned out. The exact spot where the Weedman technician had his equipment setting. It grew back so I didn't complain. Then I noticed in September my whole right front side of my lawn the grass was burnt. I thought at first it was due to lack of rain but as other areas of the yard greened up and grew the grass that was once full died away. I called in on Oct. 5th at 3:49 and asked Brittany if they had a new technician working on my lawn. Was told no. I asked to speak to a manager and was told one would call me back. On Oct 6th at 1:04pm I received a call back from a manager. After explaining the burnt out grass in my yard he immediately began to state it was some kind of problem causing it - which of course would need additional treatment. He agreed to come out in the next couple of days and take a look at the yard and discuss with me. Skip to Oct. 23rd. - I get a call from Brittany in the office wanting to schedule my next treatment. I explained to Brittany the trouble I had with my lawn, that their manager never showed up or bothered to call me and that effective immediately I was cancelling my service with them. She offered to have a manager call me again or come to the house and I told her I was done with using the service. On Oct 30th at 12:25pm I get a voice mail from Shane requesting to come to the house on Nov. 2nd to do my next scheduled treatment. I called back in to the office at 2:48pm and spoke to Brittany, gave her my name and address and told her I had already cancelled service with them. Brittany says may I ask why....no I already explained this to you. I am done. Although my yard had look better previous to this summer I have found that this company is difficult to deal with when you have an issue with their work. I had one spot that grew what they called stilt grass a few years ago after their treatment. I had never seen this stilt grass in my yard before. They told me I needed to purchase a stronger treatment. It did not kill it. I had them come up several times to retreat the area. No success. Finally they sent up the manager who told me what he was going to use would resolve the problem and that stilt grass would not grow back. It's come back every year. I just got tired of reporting it because I knew they could not get rid of it or would tell me I need some new type of treatment. I am going to take my business to a company who takes responsibility for the work the technicians are providing to their customers and who is as anxious about coming up when there is a problem as they are to apply treatments. read more
