I love farmers markets! Grand Army Plaza has everything! The vibe is very chill. There's a lot of…read morefoot traffic, but it flows nicely. Prepared food vendors include a couple of Mexican fruit stands and King David Tacos. I recommend the fish tacos. There are at least three or four vendors selling high quality produce, a couple of meat vendors including duck, and farm fresh eggs. There are a couple of bakeries and blended honey from Remsburger's. I've been obsessed with their cranberry honey! They give out samples and even have little pixie stix for the kiddies that are only a quarter. A surefire way to keep eager and excited that kids occupied while you make the rounds, lol. One of the farmers has tons of apples. Surprise , its New York state- but they also have apple cider and cider donuts which you can get plain or sugared. It's best if you go to them when the market first opens. That's when they're actually close to warm and tasty. Otherwise it's just dry and no amount of apple cider is going to help. For entertainment, there's usually a couple of bus game musicians. The last time I went there was a saxophonist and what sounded like a Appalachian fiddling group. Another time they had a marimba player and they were really really good. Check out the video!

The Bushwick Farmer's Market is definitely worth checking out. It's small, but growing. You can…read morepurchase many farmer's market staples here, but the selection is by no means extensive. The fact that there is a farmer's market in Bushwick is quite exciting in itself- local organic produce has even crept into the hood! Just in case you missed this detail- there are two location: Wednesdays @ Broadway & Linden, Saturdays @ Maria Hernandez Park. They've recently added a live cooking demo & food tasting series to the saturday market. Definitely swing by for this at some point. Today I got to taste a delicious portabello ropa vieja. Yum. I didn't linger on the cooking demos too long, but one can certainly gain some knowledge on cooking all those fresh tasty vegetables. I'll stop through again sometime soon. There is a CSA called NEXTDOORGANICS stationed at the Bushwick Farmer's Market that I'll probably be joining. This CSA is unique in that you don't pay upfront for the whole harvest season, you can go week by week. Also, fresh cut flowers are included in your weekly pickups. Aside from veggies, Bushwick Farmer's Market also has local honey, cheese and milk, brewklyn grind coffee and artisanal bread. I look forward to seeing this farmer's market grow in the future. What they are doing is wonderful.

Entering through the coffee shop, bad -- entering through the lobby, good. It'll make your little adventure begin on a higher note -- reasons are many, just please take my word for it. Six floors up and ten paces ahead, your faced with your first and only decision. Shall we take a right, or shall we take a left? When you don't know where you are going, it really doesn't matter which way you choose. The thick dry straw that cushion your walk keeps the dirt from becoming part of your wardrobe an unwanted souviner not tracked home. Staying on the main thorofare and avoiding non guided excursions towards the roofs edges is a good plan, if you do feel the need to venture, keep watch where your planting your feet. Flower beds sit snug in close proximity to the ground and are closely huddled together leaving them exposed for damage from a slight of step. The Greens family is fully represented, a Ware Rabbits dream come true, I gravitated immediately to the leeks, how I love them so. We purchased many items from the farmstand tgat had little or nothing to do with greens. Sourdough bread, hot sauce, honey, carrots and more all came home with me and will all work their way on to my Sunday menu.

And of course, seasonal produce can be bought here just like other farmers markets. The selection is just limited in comparison. They also have a CSA of you're interested.

Brooklyn Terminal Market is a mall.. multiple stores with individual ownership. I visited Visconti…read morefor plants/flowers about 2 week ago, and it was glorious! Prices are very good on average. Spectacular in some events, average in others. Variety is exceptional, but not very unique. The important thing is they treat their plants the way they should be treated so you go home with really healthy well treated plants. This is a very delicate time of year, And they do it well. A lot of sellers don't care, Will mistreat you're plants because of poor inventory Control and weather fluctuations . you bring home a beautiful plant that drops it leaves 7 days later because someone left a tropical outside on a night less than 40 degrees. These guys are NOT doing that. They have specimin level cactus inside and hardy succulents outside, fabulous selection of season appropriate plants allocated properly so nothing will come home and drop leaves. Gorgeous Big blooming Reiger begonias that were hardened properly outdoors, havent dropped a single bloom at my home in the last week... they have beautiful bloom pending quart perennials like salvia at 1/2 Home Depot price. Isnide the bromilead selection is incredible. Indoor tropicals were coming out their ears, (but not the doors bc it's too cold) monsteras, zz plants, sanseveria(aka snake plant/mother-in-law) and I think they had banana tress- that or giant bird of paradise, either way, I can't afford them so I ran away Before they unwrapped them, broke my heart and my credit limit.. if $ is not an issue, these are your guys. I met the A. and the Son In A.visconti and sons, everyone was so helpful, not just the bosses. They seem to be as excited about spring as I was. I'm a very experienced indoor and outdoor gardener and every tip they gave me was on the money, even if it discouraged me from buying... they clearly want happy informed returning customers more than a spring fever impulse sale. I couldn't have enjoyed it more

Their produce is fresh albeit pricey but farm to table and pesticide free is always the draw at these greenmarkets. (Because I care about you, dear reader.) This farmer's market is still a pretty good one. Unfortunately, we've lost Grazin' Angus (although, I'm told I should eat less red meat) and Divine Pickles (I miss those wasabi pickles), but there's still plenty of produce for you. All the tomatoes, greens, beans, nuts, mushrooms, cheese, eggs, flowers and other plants you'd ever want are here for the buying. You can also still grab: Tasty turkey sausage/burgers (and other items) from DiPaolo's. Crusty ciabatta (and other items) from Bread Alone. Whole chickens, primed for roasting. Duck bacon and/or rillettes. Burpless cucumbers. Overall, I've been happy with just about every purchase I've made here over the past few years. There was that one time that I bought an heirloom tomato that got crushed in the bag under other, heavier stuff, and leaked juice all over everything...I was sad about that. Then my cat decided to attack the other, $3 tomato as it sat in our fruit bowl. That was also disappointing, but he's a known asshole and we should've expected it. Anyway, what hasn't changed in the past half decade or so is that I think you should come here and buy delicious items from the vendors. Because the more you support the market, the more awesome vendors will show up. Therefore, by spending money here, you will really be increasing my quality of life. Sure, it'll be good for the whole neighborhood and the food industry in general, but let's be honest: I'm the one that really matters. ____________ *On the Carroll Gardens Greenmarket front. Lots of other things have changed, but this doesn't seem like the proper place to get into it.

Well, I can definitely vouch for their gorgeously spacious Brooklyn Grange Farm + Farmstand located in Sunset Park that I visited recently. Although they have a nicely visible sign pointing to the direction of the rooftop farm, it took me a couple of twists and turns before finding tthe right building, locating the corner elevator, pressing the button to get to the rooftop and arriving to the sliding doors to get to the actual farm -lol. Complete awe came over me as I stepped outside..... So many words can be used to describe Brooklyn Grange Farm in Sunset Park but I will just simply sum it up by saying that it is spectacular! Ok, so I have to add a bit more...lol. Yes, it is spacious as I stated earlier in this review and has such a calming armosphere, etc.. Rows and various areas of wonderfully wonderful rich soil, growing greenery, robustly colorful vegetables, herbs + flowers, beautiful butterflies flying around...All of that and so much more was present at this rooftop farm overlooking sensational scenic views. Just taking so many deep breaths to inhale glorious fresh air while walking slowly around the farm to take in everything made me feel extremely grateful + blessed. Friendly, hardworking staff were kind enough to greet me as they tended to the farm as well as to the farmstand where produce grown is available for purchase. There was an array of peppers, herbs, greens and even carrots. Happily, I bought some mixed salad greens which tasted delicious. Brooklyn Grange Farm + Farmstand works w/ non-profit + CBO's (Community Based Organizations) to provide resources/services including environmental/farming education. It is outstanding to have Brooklyn Grange Farm create organically grown produce to communities which helps foster, maintain and sustain healthy eating/nutrition + well-being.
