Shrimp Fried Rice + Add Egg
Jeff C.

Let me update this for 2025 and state that I'm happy to report 5 years later the food is still great! Today I got shrimp fried rice add egg ($8.99 + $3.00), plus chicken nuggets ($5.49) and a fountain drink ($2.49). So, just slightly more expensive but the portions are still great. Probably the best chicken nuggets with french fries you can get that's not from a fast food place. Highly recommended! Owner friendly, great service!

Wei Tasty Asian is fine, but it's not necessarily anything special, especially now that they've raised prices. I'm a little confused about this because in store their prices remain the same with fried rice at $6.99, but online, fried rice costs $8.99, so I believe they're in the middle of a price change. Despite the 3-star rating, I do come here fairly often. I like their dumplings, both fried and steamed, and their fried rice is fine but often lacks flavor. I usually add several packets of soy sauce. I also like their egg drop soup. My friends have all enjoyed Wei Tasty. Something else of note is that I believe this isn't a local Waco business. Wei Tasty Asian has two more storefronts, one in Dallas and one in Carrollton. If you want to support local, I'd recommend Fortune Cookie, Yaki, Bangkok Royal, or The Blasian Asian, though I believe Wei Tasty is still the lowest priced of all of those, even if they're raising their prices. Ordering online gets you 10% off. When you try to order online, there is an option for curbside pickup, but I don't believe they do curbside. My friend said she tried to have her food brought to her curbside and she ended up just having to go inside the store to pick it up. I've always just gone inside. Ultimately Wei Tasty Asian is fine if you're in the mood for some run of the mill Chinese food, but I'd recommend trying one of the local places listed above instead!

Moldy egg found in S1. Egg Drop Soup. Date taken was 1/7/2020

I used to really like this place when it first opened, but it has just gone down hill. My order is almost always wrong and the service has become terrible. I've gone and had to wait 15 mins for someone to come out to take my order bc they were in the back chatting and on their phone. I had to call for someone to even realize I was at the front. I am no longer going to this establishment bc at my last visit my order was wrong, yet again, and to top it all off there was a HUGE chunk of MOLDY EGG in my egg drop soup. I've posted a photo to show how disgusting it was. Thank goodness I didn't eat any before finding it.

The drink cooler needed water because we got the last one then offered us tap water

So don't EVER EAT HERE! The girl who served us DID NOT CLEAN the tables...by the time we sat down another customer had cleaned the table bc all of them were dirty. U could go to panda and get better service and better meal for less than what we paid it's not worth it

Stopped in here Sunday night after looking at the pictures of the Lo mein. We tried the beef lo mein, sesame chicken, and the tofu with veggies. All of it was really good. Gigantic portions, didn't even finish half of it. I'm happy because I don't have to cook tomorrow. 5 star all around.

Veggie Pad Thai

This place was clean and bright and nicely decorated and there's a TV playing a Spanish channel; I sat near the window. The restroom condition was fair. The knowledgeable cashier was pleasant and even taught me a word in Spanish. I like that the menu is small and has vivid photos of each plate. My veggie Pad Thai looked better than the menu photo. The veggies were perfectly cooked, but the noodles were soft and the sauce was too oily for my taste and didn't have the usual flavor I'm familiar with at other Thai restaurants. It was a very large serving so I took the rest to-go. I put it in the box and took it to the register. He didn't miss any of the sauces or cookies or silverware before giving the bag back to me. The price was good. I hope your experience it nice though.

This spot is great for a fast bite, they had my food out in less than 20 mins! The staff is very prompt and professional. As soon as anyone left they would hop to collecting all dishes and sanitizing everything! It was a great experience. The actual taste was decent but I'm unsure if it was made from scratch.

Their spicy seafood with rice dish is good. Also, the hot and sour soup is great and relatively cheap. Good bang for your buck.

I have been wanting to come here for years so you can imagine my excitement when I called to make…read morereservations about a month in advance and they were able to fit our large party in! They have a designated parking lot making it super easy to visit here. They brought us to our table right away, which was this beautiful large family table set in its own alcove, so it felt very special and away from the main hustle and bustle of the restaurant. The vibe was like a modern upgraded diner. I had struggled deciding between going at brunch time or for the dinner menu, but I am super happy that we decided to do brunch because we got to enjoy the famous Jo's Buttermilk Biscuits with the flight of butters. All of the butter was great, but I especially loved the blackberry butter. The biscuits were so good though, that you didn't even need butter at all, they were just so light and fluffy. Not dry like your typical biscuit that you'd get at any other restaurant! For the main meal, I picked the crunchy French toast, which was perfectly crispy on the outside but nice and custardy on the inside. I love the use of the cornflake cereal on the outside, I don't think I can go back to any regular French toast after that! They have some seasonal drinks available, so make sure you ask your server. On our particular visit, we tried the 1905 latte which had a toasted marshmallow syrup inside and surprisingly was not too sweet despite being marshmallow. The restaurant is connected to the little merch area/market where you can buy a lot of of the Magnolia merch if you can't make it over to the Silos. The decor and feel inside is so beautiful, as expected if you're familiar with Joanna's work! What a treat to be able to visit here and may they last for a long time!

On top of that, the air conditioning vent was blowing directly onto our table the entire time. After being seated, we watched several employees standing around chatting while we waited nearly 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. No one greeted us, offered coffee or water, or even said hello. Eventually, our server arrived, and she was wonderful and very friendly. I ordered the Kind Breakfast, and my husband ordered the breakfast tacos. The presentation was beautiful, and the food looked delicious. Unfortunately, both of our meals were served cold. My eggs, bacon, and toast were all cold. Thankfully, my plate included a fresh salad and tomatoes, which tasted great because they were meant to be served cold. Overall, it felt like the focus was more on being a popular tourist destination than on providing attentive service and ensuring the food was served at the proper temperature. I had expected a much better experience.

Found this gem on Yelp and decided to give it a try after reading the menu and reviews. SO glad we…read moredid! It's off the beaten path which is nice because we were able to find parking. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and directed to choose a table of our preference. The waitress quickly came over and grabbed our drink order while we looked at the menu. We placed our order and the waitress was very knowledgeable and able to answer our questions. She also informed us they work as a team so we can stop anyone when/if we need something. We started with the "Burning Bush" appetizer (crispy Brussel sprouts w/ lemon garlic aioli). YUM! They had just the right bite to them, and the glaze on them paired with the aioli was delicious! For our entrees we had the Golden Calf Burger w/ sweet potato fries and sriracha aioli and The Weight of Glory Sandwich w/ broccoli slaw. They were both incredibly flavorful and fresh! You can tell they locally source their ingredients and prepare them onsite. The portions are also plentiful, and we left with a takeout box. To round off lunch we tried the special mousse on the specials board (coffee flavored cheesecake mousse). It was so delightful we dug in before I could snap a pic. Just enough coffee flavor paired with chocolate sauce (not hersheys ). The big windows allow for a lot of natural light and lends to a welcoming and warm environment. We will for sure be back and bring others!
