Buffalo Wings, Fried Banana (Plantain), Fried Breaded Shrimp, Crab Rangoon

For their coconut shrimp alone, I already love this buffet place I discovered for the first time today on my way back home to San Antonio from Dallas. The buffet area is clean, orderly, and well-stocked with amazing specialties which, imo, were all prepared very well. My 1st serving was coconut shrimp (always the first I look for at any buffet I know or visit for the 1st time). I had seafood salad and octopus salad in the same plate. All delicious. My 2nd plate - to compare them with other buffets I have visited - fried breaded shrimp, crab rangoon, fried banana (plantain), buffalo wings. All tasted great tho not that different from the usual at other places. Won't mention my next plate/s specifics anymore as they were also all good. Wait staff was always busy helping get rid of your used plates. That's amazing hospitality apart from staff being friendly all the way from the receptionist to the wait staff. Will surely come back next time I get a chance. Whole restaurant was clean as well as their bathroom.

It was clean and service was friendly. Lots of picky eater options. Buffet was clean and well stocked. There was an employee constantly maintaining it. Food was great, the decor and vibe was very nice. Restrooms were well maintained too

I was enjoying my food and I was drink Dr pepper. I had about half of cup of Dr pepper And waitress grab a cup from another table and pour it to my cup and right after she pour it she told me if I had Dr pepper I was disgusted so I told her bring me a cup of water. I never ask for a refill

I will not be recommending this place to anybody. The only thing I loved was the coconut shrimp and that was only because it is a very hard dish to mess up. it's really easy to make and at any buffet you go to, the coconut shrimp will be good. this was the to go box that I took and I only took the things that i could actually eat again. The crab stuffed clams are delicious I definitely recommend eating those if you ever go. as for the chicken it was a lot of breading, but the flavor was good. when I actually ate at the buffet, I had the angel hair vermicelli and it was flavorless, as was the lo mein. The sushi they served was also very bland, I had to dunk it in spicy mayo in order to make it edible. So the only thing I recommend coming here is the coconut shrimp and the crab stuffed clams. everything else isn't worth it.

Waco truly just has very bad luck when it comes to Asian buffets. Ocean Buffet has been there for a few years now, and I'm disappointed to say that the quality has gone down. Quality of staff, cleanliness, food, and overall dining experience. We tried Ocean for dinner tonight at around 6:00, and we were one of maybe four sets of customers. The food was limp and shockingly cold (some completely undercooked), and as always we felt quite rushed even though people weren't exactly busting down the doors to get inside the restaurant. They usually have a pretty good selection of sushi, but their sushi bar was completely shut down, which was very disappointing. None of the buffet food was satisfactory, however, the Mongolian stir fry section hit the spot!! That is the ONLY reason they're receiving two stars instead of one. It was quick and it was the only food in the whole establishment that tasted fresh. So if you must go to Ocean Buffet, maybe avoid the buffet food unless it's coming out hot and fresh, and just stick to the Mongolian stir fry option instead!

Food was okay, the plates and tables were unsanitary. There was leftover food on the plates and tables were sticky! The atmosphere was good.

The quality and flavor are noticeably superior to anything I've had elsewhere, consistently fresh, perfectly balanced, and clearly made with care rather than shortcuts. I'm hooked on the sushi bowls, and my wife loves that they also offer grilled chicken options with vegetables that are always crisp, fresh, and thoughtfully prepared. It's rare to find a place that nails both quality seafood and non-sushi options this well. The customer service deserves special recognition. That kind of consistency and friendliness says a lot about how the restaurant is run. J-Petal & Poke isn't just a place we eat, it's a place we look forward to visiting. As has become almost standard in any steakhouse these days, her ribeye was not medium well as she asked, closer to a Pleistocene dining experience than in a very upscale restaurant in a technologically advanced civilization. Seems like they could have got that right. The prime rib was excellent, perfectly cooked and served with a particularly superb version of horse radish sauce. The vegetable sides were asparagus with Hollandaise and baked spinach. These are "family" servings that we shared between us. The spinach was excellent; the asparagus was a touch on the al dente side and the Hollandaise thin and flat, could have used a discernable bit of flavor. Meal - we'll go with a solid B plus, and a properly prepared ribeye would have elevated that. Service -the young lady that greeted us was clearly evaluating our somewhat casual attire (no shorts, no T-shirts, crocs or flip-flops, just nothing fancy) and had all of the warmth and welcoming charm of a Minnesota winter. The waiter was efficient and pleasant, but again as is a modern affectation, a bit overly familiar. We enjoy good service, but we're not going to become pen pals.

We kept it simple with apps and drinks, and even that was a letdown. The calamari came out lukewarm with zero flavor. Crab cakes were also barely warm (they tasted okay, but still shouldn't be served like that). The worst part was the lobster bisque--bland, lukewarm, and honestly tasted like canned soup with a few pieces of "lobster" thrown in. No flavor at all. We didn't complain, but the manager came over after noticing it wasn't touched and said the chef was "trying something different"... it didn't work. Even a guest next to us overheard and said the quality has gone downhill--she had sent hers back too. The only good thing was the drinks--dirty vodka martinis were solid. Overall, not worth the price. We won't be back.
