I didn't like that they had me and my party of 2, stand in front of our table while we had to wait for someone to come clean the table; that felt very unwelcoming and uncomfortable. Besides the not so warm welcome. I love the variety of Asian & Seafood that they have. I had sweet sour chicken, Mongolian pork, prawn, fried shrimp, coconut shrimp, crab, lo mein and rice. Some of the food was great and some of the food was not so great. What made some of the food unsatisfying is that it wasn't fresh. A lot of meats, specifically the chicken were stale/stiff and dry. Coconut shrimp was really good..so was my water. Things we all agreed on at my table was the chicken (general, or otherwise) was mainly breading and sauce and tough. The egg rolls were tough and while the chicken for the sweet &sour chicken was meaty, the breading was tough. The noodles seemed like they've been there a while. The white rice was good.th3 spicy seafood soup had good flavor but I personally dont like when they keep the shrimp's shell & digestive tract. For their coconut shrimp alone, I already love this buffet place I discovered for the first time today on my way back home to San Antonio from Dallas. The buffet area is clean, orderly, and well-stocked with amazing specialties which, imo, were all prepared very well. My 1st serving was coconut shrimp (always the first I look for at any buffet I know or visit for the 1st time). I had seafood salad and octopus salad in the same plate. All delicious. My 2nd plate - to compare them with other buffets I have visited - fried breaded shrimp, crab rangoon, fried banana (plantain), buffalo wings. All tasted great tho not that different from the usual at other places. Won't mention my next plate/s specifics anymore as they were also all good. Wait staff was always busy helping get rid of your used plates. That's amazing hospitality apart from staff being friendly all the way from the receptionist to the wait staff. In my eyes, it takes considerable effort for a restaurant to achieve one-star status. Well, this place had no problem getting it done. There are several examples: Questionable food temperature. Inadequate cleaning. Fishy-smelling sushi, and not in a good way. Undercooked Mongolian grill serving. The crab legs were nowhere to be seen. Oysters on half-shell came out at a rate of about 12 oysters per hour. No drink refills for anyone at my table. I always try to say something nice...hey, nobody in my party has gotten sick, yet. Showed up around lunch, because I've learned from other buffets, the food gets left out after the lunch service and drys out. None of us could finish one plate of food. We all felt sick immediately. I will not be recommending this place to anybody. The crab stuffed clams are delicious I definitely recommend eating those if you ever go. as for the chicken it was a lot of breading, but the flavor was good. when I actually ate at the buffet, I had the angel hair vermicelli and it was flavorless, as was the lo mein. The sushi they served was also very bland, I had to dunk it in spicy mayo in order to make it edible. Waco truly just has very bad luck when it comes to Asian buffets. Ocean Buffet has been there for a few years now, and I'm disappointed to say that the quality has gone down. Quality of staff, cleanliness, food, and overall dining experience. We tried Ocean for dinner tonight at around 6:00, and we were one of maybe four sets of customers. The food was limp and shockingly cold (some completely undercooked), and as always we felt quite rushed even though people weren't exactly busting down the doors to get inside the restaurant. They usually have a pretty good selection of sushi, but their sushi bar was completely shut down, which was very disappointing. None of the buffet food was satisfactory, however, the Mongolian stir fry section hit the spot!! That is the ONLY reason they're receiving two stars instead of one. It was quick and it was the only food in the whole establishment that tasted fresh. So if you must go to Ocean Buffet, maybe avoid the buffet food unless it's coming out hot and fresh, and just stick to the Mongolian stir fry option instead! read more

Best buffet I've been to in a while they had so much variety, crabs, dessert, our waitress was so kind and made sure to have our empty plates cleared and bringing new drinks, As soon as ours were down, they were so sweet to our baby girl, they offered a water to go for her, it was clean and the vibe was nice, at the end of our dinner we asked to take a picture with one of their giant stuffed animals they had on display (Mymelody and Cinnamonroll) and they were so kind to bring an extra Plush just for my daughters photograph thank you. I'm so glad this place survived the Covid crazies and seem to have gotten back in full swing. We had been in when they first reopened and as you might expect it looked pretty slow and sad. I'm happy to say the other day when we decided to check it out again in anticipation of a visit from out of state family we were so pleased with the quality, variety, and quantity of food. Used to really like this place, but don't think I'll be back. Every time we go it goes further and further down hill. So, we used to drive from Temple here. Not because the food was amazing, it's average, but it was a good value. Lots of variety, even offered sushi like rolls, nigiri, and sashimi (which not all places offer), along with crab! Well they started to raise their prices, started to have big gaps in time they would put the crab out, and then would put less and less when they would put some out. It would be gone within seconds and they would not bring more for atleast 30 minutes! So we slowly just stopped going. Well today we decided to go back and give it another try. Prices have gone up again, no crab, and NO SUSHI at all! They said they lost their license (health code violation maybe?), saying they only serve it on Saturday now, which idk how you do that if your license got pulled? I asked if the prices went down since their is no sushi they said no, they have gone up. Sad too, I used to really like the crab, sushi, and most importantly, the value this place offered. Of course, they have the requisite American food, but having two kinds of chicken wings was cool, plus the Chinese food was great. They didn't have sushi, but they had a sign that it was coming soon since I don't eat seafood, not a big deal for me at all. The dessert selection was extensive and they had a lot of fresh fruit available, the watermelon was a bit unripe, but it was still ok. I got the Mongolian grill and it was perfect. All in all, the place is just what I was hoping for in a Chinese buffet, good food and fresh.
