I've been knowing about this place for years, but as of recent years I have started eating here. There's not many Thai places in Waco, but I would say that this is one of the best Thai places you'll find in Waco. I've been able to try a few of their dishes, like the Pad Kee Mao, and as of recently, their Pad Thai, which I had with shrimp. Every time I've had food from them I have been very impressed. There are foods that I would have been hesitant to try in the past because of unfamiliarity, but thanks to how they make everything taste, I'm eager to try everything. I really love their shrimp pad Thai. It was the best pad Thai that I've had so far! I'm not a huge dessert fan, but they have nice desserts such as the banoffee and fruit sando. If you are a banana pudding lover or a fruity dessert lover, I recommend you try that. They also have great appetizers as well! read more

I went to Curry Up & Wok This Way (cute name!) while I was visiting Waco. It's in one of the corners of the Union Food Hall. There are a few tables and chairs that are clean though a bit uncomfortable. Service was great - everyone working was really friendly! They had a dessert banoffee pie in a cup that was fantastic. As for my meal, I ordered the green curry with tofu and veggies. It was incredibly sweet. This is my go-to order, and I've never had one this sweet. It wasn't pleasant. It was also unclear if it was vegetarian or not (with fish sauce or not). My boyfriend got a noodle dish and really enjoyed it! And then here I was! Their menu is limited - understandable, given they're in a food court sorta spot, they have a small kitchen. I went for the Thai style fried rice with beef topped with a fried egg. I popped my digital wallet to pay and whomp-whomp: their POS was down. I asked if using a card would help instead - we tried that three times and that didn't fly either. I offered to pay cash - cash no bueno here. In the meanwhile, a line was forming behind me. What a fine time for technology to fail. It took a few minutes, but they finally figured it out. The line behind me got a little bit longer, but I took that as "Wow, they have a following." I was told it'd be about 10-15 minutes before my food was ready so I went to another spot for a drink. Grub was good to go at the allotted time I was told - except the egg was missing. They realized that before I even got the chance to say anything, so yay. VERDICT: Made to order food is always a plus. The beef was soft with great seasoning and it was commensurate to the amount of rice. There weren't a lot of fillers so nothing was taken away from focusing on the beef and the rice. FOOD: 4. Delicious and plenty to share with another. SERVICE: 3.5. VALUE: 4. Worth it and then some! PARKING: located inside Union Hall. They have a small private lot. Street parking also available. I came by and picked up a quick lunch here and I was extremely impressed with my meal. I got the Pad Kee Mao with a hot spice and it was perfect. I really like the way the veggies in the dish are prepared - bite size. When it comes to Thai places I judge them on their Pad Kee Mao which is my favorite Thai noodle dish and this place gets a gold star for it. My only note that I will leave is you do have to pay extra for any spice level over the basic mild but all that did was make a $12.50 dish into a $13.00 dish which is extremely reasonable for the food quantity and quality delivered. The portion size of the Pad Kee Mow was about half of what I would normally expect from a Thai restaurant (and also compared to the photos of it available here). First time to eat here. Ordered Panang curry, fried rice and Pad See Ew. Panang ordered at Thai spice level by a True Thai Girl. She said it was good but it's funny bc it's not run by Thai people. My rice was just fine. My husband said it was decent. A good meal. Interesting tho. My husband's dish was way spicier than mine and we got the same spice level. The Thai spice level was not that much hotter than my husband's. It came with no accompaniments like soy or any kind of sauce and NO napkins. They had to go get some from somewhere and the hubs got tired of waiting for the employee to come back. It also took way longer than what they told me originally. I have to be honest, I was not impressed by this food stall one bit. First of all, finding parking for Union hall, especially on the weekends, is very tricky! Took me a while and I had to kinda drive around in circles til I got pretty far out from the hall, and had to park on the street and walk back to it. Not convenient at all, especially if you want to just take your food to go! Then when I got there, I found this little Thai style food stall, and was checking out their menu. The menu is quite limited. Then one of the workers stopped me and asked me a couple questions about what kind of food I like, and tried to offer a suggestion. I'll give him credit for making that effort. I took a minute and figured out what I wanted. Finally I stepped up to the counter to order. They took a while to notice I was there and finally came over to the register to get my order. The transaction was simple enough. The guy said it would be maybe three minutes, and my order would be ready. I was like wow, ok! I proceeded to wait around while they made my food. Ten minutes later, I was finally getting the alert that my order was ready. Either the cook was new or just took his sweet time to make that. Not three minutes as I was told! Kinda lame. Then I took my food and had to walk all the way back to my car, and head out. Got to where I was going to enjoy my meal and tore into it. Had a pretty good flavor but was a lot spicier than I had expected. I ordered medium spice and this was definitely hotter than that. Was uncomfortable to choke down my food, and not really enjoyable. Then maybe 3-4 hrs later, the final surprise hit me. That food messed up my guts so bad that evening! Not cool. I am not sure if it was food poisoning, or what, but it was definitely from that meal from Curry up. On a side note, the dude who rang my up was kinda creepy and gave me a weird vibe. I don't know. So, sad because 1) the prices went up 2) not enough food. I ordered a Pad Kee Mao which usually fills me up at any other Thai restaurant. I paid $14 and I'm a small person that doesn't eat much and I didn't get full. I normally take my food home and I ate it all and I was still hungry. The price could have been fine if it was enough food but sadly it wasn't. Unless their portion increase I don't plan on spending that much on that little. The flavor is on point but I would have to order another plate and that would be almost $30. My husband ordered their expensive plate and he too didn't get full. First time to Union Hall. Read the rave reviews for this place and was greatly disappointed. First, the young lady at the register was on the phone talking an order over the phone. When she finished with the call, she looked up at me and didn't acknowledge me. Just stared at me waiting for me to speak to her. We had a stare down. After 20 minutes of waiting I walked over to ask about my order. And there it was. A sad plate of chicken fried rice. I asked if this was my order because it didn't have my name but someone else's. She said yes. I asked how long was it sitting there (the rest of my group was just about finished with their meals at this point). She said a little over 5 minutes. I was annoyed. I asked if I could bring it back if it's cold since it's been sitting there getting cold. To which she responded, "it's only been 5 minutes ".I picked up the plate to walk away and there was condensation on the counter and the bottom of the plate was soggy .
