Daisy has also given me herbs to help treat some other health issues (cold, flu, hormonal imbalances) to treat the root cause of my issues as opposed to masking the issue. Daisy is great because she always discusses the cause of my pain, and how the treatment is supposed to impact it. She treated me for severe inflammation which caused the inflammation by a combination of cupping, bleeding and acupuncture including electrodes in several of the needles. When I started treatment, I could only walk about 100 feet before pain and found it difficult to sleep. After three sessions, my inflammation was reduced to the degree that I could sleep soundly and walk a block without pain. After ten treatments, I was able to walk for up to six miles without pain She is a good listener, asks for feedback and great in finding the different connective points to treat the ailments. As a former employee of Dr. Tian and Bethesda Acupuncture (having left in January 2021 on maternity…read moreleave), there was no one else on my list to call when I was diagnosed with shingles by my PCP in August. As a relatively healthy 29 year old, and a new mom, shingles was the last thing I ever thought I would have developed. Dr. Tian assured me in an initial telehealth consultation that not only was I not alone in being relatively young and having shingles (courtesy of extra high levels of stress, and adjusting to a new life as a parent) but that there was a great deal we could do to treat the itching, pain, and to prevent postherpetic neuralgia. The office fit me in for an appointment same day and so began my treatments. I'm thrilled to say that just over a month later, I am 99.9% shingles free. Dr. Tian worked with me to manage my shingles, but also to address some additional postpartum concerns (PPA, PPD, back pain, etc). She even assisted with the scarring I have left from the shingles and prescribed a derma roller 3x a week. I can report also that I sleep much more soundly (When my daughter allows!), I have minimal back pain, and my mood is so significantly improved and consistent I am almost completely off the medication I was put on for PPA. Given that I knew Dr. Tian and the practice prior to going as a patient, I knew cleanliness is one of their top priorities - even if a global pandemic was not part of the equation. I felt comfortable in the office each and every time I was there, knowing the staff all wear PPE including face masks and shields, and there are multiple state of the art air filtration and purifying machines throughout the office space. In addition to the detail with with the office is maintained, Dr. Tian also explained each and every step at my first appointment, and was always quick to answer any questions I had. Whether I was curious what needle related to what symptom, or about why I was feeling twitchy during an appointment. A simple "I recommend Dr. Tian and her entire team at BAWM" is not enough - I would shout it from the rooftops to anyone willing to listen and anyone suffering, not only from shingles, but from any ailment or concern, as Dr. Tian will look not only at what is bothering you, but will look at "the whole picture". I will now and forevermore hesitate to see anyone else for acupuncture, or any TCM treatments knowing the due diligence Dr. Tian gives all of her patients, and the care she puts into each and every appointment she sees.

I've been treated by Dr. Wang over the years for numerous different complaints. He has a great…read moreunderstanding of body energy flow and has a very unassuming, unostentatious manner. He expertly sticks in the needles where they need to go to affect the problem zone and then gives you a little electric current/pulse in addition through the needles. Then you are under the heat lamp and listening to spa music while the treatment ensues...for about half an hour. You are flat out on the table in a zone....in and out of sleep while the acupuncture remedy is working to cure your pains.... Truly its been a great way to address the root of blockages in body energy that cause pain (as Dr. Wang explains it) or muscle sprains and injuries in normal terms. (Dr. Wang switches between Chinese and western medical terms to help people understand the root cause of pains). I can't recommend Dr. Wang's healing approach and effectiveness more highly. The fact that I have gone back for over five years and find his treatments consistently effective should tell you a lot.

No physical pain to speak of, but my brain was foggy, it was hard to concentrate. I was also feeling anxious and particularly irritable... just feeling run down. Dr. Chen was gracious enough to accommodate me at the last minute. After a few minutes and some intake questions, she laid me on the table and started the treatment. I have a phobia of needles but overall it was generally painless (although I did feel a few tiny pricks here and there when she was applying the needles to my feet.) About 45 minutes later she removed the needles and the nodes that she had applied to the various parts of my body and used some kind of liniment and gua sha tool to loosen the abundant tension in my shoulders. That part was a little uncomfortable... The same way that getting a deep tissue massage might be uncomfortable. When I left I felt... Lighter. A few days later I was able to accomplish some difficult things that I had been struggling with.... That I had not been able to focus on or direct the proper attention to. Can I attribute it directly to acupuncture? I don't know. But I'd like to believe that the treatment definitely helped in I'm blocking and balancing my chi. Fine technique, but---- I'd like her for no other reason that---she agrees with me: acupuncture is greatly under-used. Acupuncture should be taking the country by storm. Acupuncture works. No MRI's or x-ray exposure, no pills, and no high prices, no toxic overload. Users of acupuncture can make a difference by spreading the word, tell family and co-workers of our successes with acupuncture. We need to lobby Congress to get acupuncture covered under Medicare. If your hospitalization plan doesn't cover acupuncture, nag them. Parents whose child is prescribed medication for behavior, should try acupuncture first. People with anxiety or fatigue or drug dependence would be helped with acupuncture....with the added plus that you'd know right away. Acupuncture instead of a face-lift, it tightens the skin, and is thousands of dollars cheaper. Not my condition at all, but here is a link that suggests that those with diabetes could well try acupuncture. The cost of the medication alone would suggest using acupuncture instead of expensive drugs. But---it's the buildup in the body, that I'd worry about.
