I recently worked with this group to close on my first home purchase-- a condo in Brooklyn. As a first time home buyer, I wanted to make sure I had reputable lawyers to guide me through the closing process. I chose this firm because they are kind of middle of the lane-- not the cheapest and not the most expensive. And they are well-reviewed. ------------------------ I feel they did just OK. I realized that a lot of the legal documents lawyers use for closing is basically built off a template. So, I often spent a lot of my own time reading through these convoluted legal documents thinking "Wait, this shouldn't be here, right??". And in those times, I'd sync with the lawyer, and they'd respond with a few words in an email and be like "oh yeah that's the template". With a service like this, it just made me think "I really should've chosen a cheaper law firm if all they're doing is robotically providing me templates and barely have enough time to make sure I thoroughly understand what I'm signing." ------------------------ A big irksome moment was that the lawyers (and the lender I chose) kept pressuring me to sign a legal document saying I need to pay 32k more than I should. It left a bad taste in my mouth for professional lawyers to be like "yeah just sign it, no worries you won't have to pay it." ------------------------ In general, I DO recommend working with this firm because my closing was clean, the lawyers were nice, and things got done. BUT, I realized that I was paying more to work with this group for a sense of reassurance, and that ultimately, the quality of their service made me think "I should've gone with some other cheaper group." If you're like me, and you're a first-time home buyer who's nervous about mistakes, then I recommend this group to you, but you will be paying an extra 1-2k than necessary. Hey, sometimes that's a small price to pay to feel reassured that you won't get stuck in a bad situation. But, now that I've done this once already, the next time, I'll choose some other cheaper service. read more

Barry was referred to us after our initial lawyer was not returning our calls and emails, sometimes for days on end - and we couldn't be happier! Barry called us within minutes of us reaching out to him and he and his team (Despina and Andrea!) never disappointed. Additionally, the team found an unexpected open UCC on a title search from three previous owners ago that their team was able to track down and close out, without any delays in the closing. An issue like that takes a lot extra work and can take many weeks to research and correct. I used Barry and his associate Jamie for my recent co-op purchase. It was my first real estate purchase and I was fairly nervous about it. Barry and Jamie patiently answered all of my questions and always responded to my emails very quickly (even late at night and over weekends). Whenever I had a question, concern, or problem, Barry (and Jamie) always made time to talk to me that day (usually within a few hours of my initial email to them). I was very involved in the process when my parents purchased a condo in Brooklyn a few years ago, and having been through the process before, I realized it was critical to have a good attorney to represent and walk you through the process, as we were completely lost when my parents closed on their property. We just closed on an HDFC co-op in the East Village, and found Weidenbaum and Harari through a neighborhood recommendation. Our mortgage was hard to secure, we had to negotiate directly with the seller, which was tense, and the deal almost fell apart a couple of times.
