I have always put off getting my eyes dilated and treated, even though I knew I had cataracts. The left eye was the worst for me and that's the one the light bothers me in the most that sets off my vertigo. I was absolutely petrified to get an eye examination done. However, Dr. W and his staff made me feel so welcomed, and everyone in the building from the front desk all the way back we're very very educated all around, starting with the receptionist who is an EMT. We talked for a while and I was telling her my concerns about even having a visit; she was very reassuring and comforting. The doctor's assistant was very helpful and kept telling me to just take deep breaths to calm down. Vertigo is something that really affects me badly and a trip to have lights put in my eyes actually terrified me. But she kept reminding me to breathe, to take a break if I needed to shut my eyes during the examination, and was very patient. The ophthalmologist himself was a God send! Not only was he highly knowledgeable in his field of ophthalmology, he went on to ask me other questions about my health as he compared my health and my situation to my chart. They had my records from the hospital in Gloucester VA. I didn't think they could get those but they had them and we're on top of everything going on with me not just

The receptionist was so pleasant, and within minutes, said they could work me in that afternoon. I was then actually a little worried--if they could work me on, maybe no one goes there! I needn't have worried. I arrived to find a bustling, friendly, high-tech optometrist office. Clearly well-run, I was called back within 5 minutes. Dr. Turlington could not have been more professional and attentive. Within a half an hour I had been seen, diagnosed, and sent on my way with clear instructions and 2 prescriptions. And they saw me again today just to be sure I was healing properly. And again, it was all positive. The friend who drove me was so impressed with the selection of glasses that she ordered 3 pairs while I was being seen! I've never written a review on Yelp, but was so impressed, and grateful, that I decided this would be my first!

My old Eye Doctor back in my hometown only had 1 person working in the office. It always seemed that I was in and out quickly. There are 3 providers that I know of here. I lost count of the number of people working in this business, this just needlessly drives up the cost of care in my opinion. My primary issue is I was careless and let the provider prescribe a contact lens that did not work correctly. I made contact and was told they would order a trial lens and call me back for another fitting That was months ago and I still have not heard back. I'm not going back, and it's a shame because this clinic is almost within walking distance from my home.

Every visit I have had here has been absolutely wonderful. I seldom have to wait beyond the scheduled time for my appointment, and, when the appointment does begin, the staff are courteous, caring, and attentive to what I am physically feeling. The women working in the optical division of the Eye Center are nothing short of wonderful, as well (my particular experience has been with Emily, whom I would credit for ensuring that I do not prematurely develop blindness). I tend to be very critical of doctors (medical jargon doesn't impress me, in the words of Julia Sugarbaker), and I've never had anything but wonderful experiences here. If your insurance covers the Eye Center, I would heartily encourage you to go. The facility is lovely and maintained impeccably, and the staff and doctors are a delight.

When another son (not a current patient) had an eye emergency, they got him in within 15 minutes of my calling, telling me not to worry about giving information over the phone as they could pull it from my other son. Once again the doctor we saw was incredible and ensured my son's vision was not in jeopardy. Recently I went for my own vision -- affected by a dysautonomic disorder and while many other eye doctors have dismissed me over the years, Dr. Pierce knew exactly what I was dealing with, still made sure it wasn't just my eyes and is working with me to to ensure I find a solution for my uncommon situation. Frankly surprised by the negative comments, however most seem to have the same complaint, billing issues, which frankly seem like issues with people not understanding the own coverage or what is and is not in network. I paid $90 for myself and my son at that joint appointment. That's $45 each. I also had every exam in the book as we were trying to ensure it was not a retinal issue or worse. When I've needed anything the women at the front have gone above and beyond. I needed my son's prescription sent to me to order his glasses as I prefer a style provided by an online provider, and since they were on the phone with other patients, I received a text message asking how they could help -- I had the script emailed to me in less than 5 minutes. I was fortunate enough to be referred (after my Ophthalmologist's Office allowed me to go blind in…read moreone eye).. Dr Singh jumped right in to find what caused the blindness in my one eye, and he prevented me from going blind in my good eye. Dr Singh makes you feel confident leaving all your ophthalmology care to him!! He always has your back! I had to have a few injections directly into the scelera of my eye, and I was thinking I'd faint dead away but I never even felt the needle one bit! It was a breeze! Dr Sing is so very experienced that he always knows what he is doing and the how to perform all procedures painlessly. He has a wonderful personality that makes you just love him! I highly recommend him and his friendly Office!
