I finally asked for recommendations of a PEDIATRIC Dentist and was sent to Tendercare. Ever since then, (approximately 10 years now), I have taken my boys to TenderCare. The staff is friendly and the doctor who was there (Dr. Kim), was awesome. I like the new Dr as well but Dr. Kim definitely made an impression on my boys and I. I recommend Tendercare to anyone looking for a friendly, and great place to take their kids for all dental needs.

I live over an hour away from this place. Does that tell you anything? I think the staff is wonderful with the kids. They laid the groundwork with my son to not have a fear of the dentist and has kept his teeth in great shape despite his addiction to marshmallows (prizes for potty training). The dentists are grads from UPENN (currently the top dental school if not one of the top 3) and everyone we have worked (great hygienists and assistants) with have made this place awesome- Which is more than I can say about those Chain Pediatric dental offices that employ dentists who are not pediatric dentists at all..... Unlike at KOOL smiles or whatever it is called, they wont "YELL" at you child to calm them down by scaring them. They use this awesome reward system (token to get a prize for being good) at the end to pick a toy in one of the dispensers. ALSO, the cute ship for kids to play in at the corner of the waiting room - PERFECT. Kept my kids busy for my 5 min wait (which is forever in kid time) As for scheduling, I don't mind scheduling in advance for the appointments I need (Sorry, Angela C.), but when I've needed to reschedule, they were fine with it as long as it wasn't a last-minute thing (I changed it a week or two out). My son hasn't needed it yet, but they offer DVDs for kids to watch during their procedure...(healthy teeth thanks to this place) The office is a building shared with an orthodontist on the other side (uhm.. can we say perfect transition to the tween years?) the ONLY drawback is the distance... but it is worth it for us.

We knew going in that my daughter was no longer covered by the state dental insurance but based on several other dental visits in the area we thought her out of pocket cost for a cleaning would be roughly $120-150. Without x-rays and only a cleaning and a flouride treatment the receptionist told us it would be $274. I asked her to explain how their service would be so much more than other providers and she said that was the price they charge. I pointed out a brochure for an insurance plan they have on display that costs less than what they are charging and she repeated that $274 was their charge for today. I asked to see the office manager who parroted the same thing as the receptionist and I additionally pointed out that most businesses will try to work with clients that pay out of pocket because the business has to pay for medical billing and then have to wait weeks to months before they get paid. Still didn't move the needle. We'd been going to Smile Castle for years and there was no attempt to work with us. I won't be going back and I think they fail to realize how insulting it is to nearly double the cost of other dental services in the area.

The facility is always clean and the staff is pleasant and accommodating. Their services are automated which makes it easier on me as a parent. You have the option of filling out intake forms from your phone before arrival as a well. They have iPads in the waiting area and are always playing the latest and greatest kid movies on their numerous screens. They even go as far as having screen above the service chairs and for kids that can be a bit finicky in the chair I'm sure this helps a great deal. The staff are always patient with my babies, more recently the kids had to get X-rays of their teeth and they're always so understanding of their inability to keep the guard in for the pictures. Going as far as to reassure them even when they're unable to get the X-rays needed. Thanks for helping me keep my kids mouths fresh guys :o).

At no point did either the hygienist or dentist speak with me directly. Instead, paperwork was handed off to the receptionist, who briefly told me my daughter would need to see a different dentist and gave a referral. That was the entirety of the communication. I chose not to follow their recommendation and instead sought care with another provider where communication was prioritized and we felt more supported. Clear communication is essential in healthcare, especially when treating children. Unfortunately, this office fell short. I would not recommend.

I couldn't have been more pleased with what I discovered. Dr. Mohomed and staff were extrordinarily welcoming and accommodating. They treated my mother like she was their own. Unfortunately, before the final dentures were complete, COVID happened. In addition, my mother fell and shattered her femur, ending up in a nursing home/rehab and unable to travel to the dentist for the fitting. In one of the most selfless and compassionate acts I have seen of a medical professional, Dr. Mohomed drove to my mother's nursing home after hours to fit her dentures in her bed. She then returned to her practice to make a final adjustment before taking them back to my mother -- again personally. What a relief to my mother -- Dr. Mohomed's selfless act relieved some of the strain of my mother's difficult recovery by allowing her to eat normally again. Witnessing Dr. Mohomed's skill and compassion convinced me to switch dentists as well. I have been a patient of GGDC for years since. I will also add from personal experience that in addition to being an amazing human being, Dr. Mohomed is skilled in performing complex dental procedures. Further, her hygenist is THE most thorough in my 60+ years of dental care. Her work is simply meticulous, and never rushed! I recently took my two year old here for her first cleaning. I must say that I was very impressed and it met my expectations, and beyond. When we first walked in, the front desk reception sent us to two sinks in the back to wash our hands, as it is their practice for everyone to wash their hands upon entering and to also wears masks. We came around Christmas time and Santa was there taking free pictures with the children and the center was decorated festively. You can tell they really enjoy making the children happy and feel welcomed. There were children crying during their cleaning, but they have many strategies to attempt to calm them. For example, they painted my daughters nails during her cleaning to distract her. They also gave her a teddy bear to clean it's teeth. As well as even though she was not comfortable laying the normal way on the medical bed, and preferred to lay sideways, the dentist followed her and cleaned her teeth where ever she was calm and comfortable. The staff is also diverse culturally. There is a free parking lot out front with ample spaces. So far, I will be back and this will be our pediatric dentist.
