He did not once look at his watch like other doctor's do. The insurance companies tell the doctor's to spend no more than 15 minutes with each patient. My Mother also goes to him for her needs, as well as myself. After a first visit, he gave me a thorough examination, and spent almost 1 hour with me. I strongly recommend anyone in need of some old fashion doctoring like we had years ago, to patronize Dr. Scott. He has a wonderful staff. His Assistant's Evelyn and Joan are both kind, compassionate and sympathetic. Dr. Scott and his staff are a rare find in today's frenzied society. In fact, I wish I could clone him!!

At the time, I was very unhappy with my current PCP due to his horrible office staff. Therefore, after a bit of research, I made an appointment with Dr. Retsagi. The practice is very small. His staff consists of a lab tech (I forgot her name) and the receptionist (Rita). Both are absolutely wonderful and always give me a very warm welcome. The only negative about Dr. Retsagi is sometimes he runs a little behind. Don't be surprised if you have to wait a half an hour, but I don't mind. It just shows he is taking his time with patients. As for Dr. Retsagi himself, he is everything a doctor should be - very kind, gentle, and very knowledgeable. He truly cares about his patients and always tells me to call him anytime if I have any problems. For my pre-op testing for the lap band surgery, he left no stone unturned. He carefully reviewed all my lab reports and also ordered some additional tests. He is also extremely fast about returning phone calls in emergency situations. One thing I forgot to mention when I first wrote this review - Dr. Retsagi's business hours are from 12-8PM, which is perfect for all us working people. If you have to reach him in the morning, leave a message on his voicemail and he will get back to you ASAP.

I've been concerned about this in the past, but what convinced me to make this move was the following... About 3 years ago I turned 50yo and asked Dr. Retsagi if I should schedule for a colonoscopy, but with confident assurance he said the a stool smear test was sufficient. I asked him again, and he again restated. Since I did not look forward to the colonoscopy prep (which is, btw, not all that bad as I found out) I went along with his advice. At least once more on my last checkup I repeated my concerns and was again reassured by him. Then, about 3 months ago my heart sank when I looked into my toilet after voiding to see bright red water. The colonoscopy revealed long existing polyps that I had to wait anxiously for 2 weeks to find out were benign. I was furious! For another example, a couple of years ago I complained to him about moderate hearing loss and asked if it's possible I had ear wax. He looked and said I was fine. 6 months later I went to a specialist who exclaimed that I had a lot of ear wax. This specialist told me it was certainly possible for a regular doctor to miss this, so I let it go. My new doctor looked in my ear and told me immediately that I now have ear wax buildup again, even without my complaining about hearing loss. I am through with Dr. Retsagi!

The first thing we noticed about their practice is that all the doctors are Board Certified in Pediatric medicine. When we first looked for a pediatrician, it was the time when people thought regular vaccines caused autism & other problems (around 2009), which later turned out to be untrue. But, to be on the safe side, this was one of the few medical practices in NJ that would separate all the different required children's vaccines, & let you get them one by one (which is not necessary anymore). We wanted our kids to be vaccinated, but worried about doing them grouped together as usual. The doctors have the best bed-side manner, & also make everyone feel comfortable, both parents & children. All the nurses & staff are excellent too. The office & exam rooms are clean & comfortable. It was also a benefit for us, because my wife preferred to speak Polish to doctors then, but I only speak English. So we both could understand whatever we needed, all the doctors are bilingual, and one may know Spanish too. They take care of so many children in the local area, it is easy to compare experiences with other parents. Everything they ever prescribed, whether a nebulizer w/ its aerated medicine, or pills, or liquid, or whatever, was always very well explained w/ all our questions answered. When the kids were very young, we had occasions of fear, where we called after hours to leave a phone message w/ their answering service. It was the first doctor I ever went to who actually returned the call quickly via their cell phone, which always amazed me, But I was very thankful for. It shows their level of care & concern. Their years of experience are hard to match, and their experience shows during their examination & treatment, by the questions they ask, & the way they address whatever the diagnosis was. I have never found a reason to complain about any aspect of their practice, which is exactly what you want for a pediatrician treating your child.

I have seen him for 6 or 7 years now and can honestly say that he is the best doctor I've ever had -- for the following reasons: 1) He has an enormous range of knowledge about each and every disease and malady a person can suffer, and always has useful recommendations about what to do or who to see next in each case. 2) He follows up carefully about every little thing you've talked about as if he were a family member rather than just a hired consultant. 3) He answers email, sometimes voluminously. I resisted one of his recommendations and got hundreds of words in my inbox carefully arguing why I wrong. Very few people can change my mind as quickly as he can. 4) You can call his direct number whenever you like so as to avoid insensitive or incompetent office staff. 5) He makes sure his office staff is competent, sensitive and friendly. They usually remember my first name, which makes things easier. 6) When I needed a letter of recommendation to help get my fiance here from Berlin, he sacrificed lots of free time and came up with a beautiful letter even though he knew he wouldn't be paid for his effort. It's a miracle when you meet someone so generous that it haunts you to realize that you'll never be able to give back to him what he has so willingly given to you.
