Waited an hour to be seen for an appointment made well in advance. Very disappointing.

Still have the same issue to deal with and I've lost time at work for nothing. But I was given a handy list of places to replace you with so thanks I guess? Great business model. We've had all 4 of our animals on plans there for as long as I can remember but that ends today.

Cat owners, this isn't the place for you. Since COVID happened, they are no longer letting you sit in for the exam but none of the staff are even wearing masks anymore. You have to drop off your pet and they will keep them in their carrier for hours. We were the first people there at around 6:50 AM and he wasn't done until 5 PM. It was for his routine exam and dental cleaning. Whenever kitty gets dropped off for his checkups, they always have to call us to say that he's aggressive, hissing, and that they don't want to touch him. The only way to proceed with the exam is to sedate him. I understand that the vet can be a stressful place for animals, but there are clinics that know how to care for cats. My cat is usually very sweet, cuddly, curious, rarely hisses, loves being held, and is fine with being picked up. The only time he hisses is when he gets his nails trimmed. He didn't start acting up at the vet until about 2-3 years ago. I didn't think much of it until going to a cat-specific vet and had a positive experience. I go to school in Houston and my boyfriend brings his baby to a cat clinic. For those who are familiar with the Midtown Houston area, the place is called The Cat Doctor. My boyfriend's cat is much different from mine since she doesn't like being held or picked up and isn't very cuddly or as affectionate. She is also very shy when it comes to new people and hides when she's in a new place. It is always a hard time to get her into her carrier since she doesn't like to be picked up, so we were worried that they wouldn't be able to examine her or get her back into the carrier. I was also nervous since I've had bad experiences with Banfield, but the exam went by very quickly! They even trimmed her nails and gave her a new toy. We weren't able to sit in the clinic for her exam due to COVID, so we waited in the parking lot. While the exam took place, the doctor called us and let us know all about her health. We were also surprised that the vet mentioned that she was a sweet cat and that it was easy to trim her nails, since she absolutely hates getting her paws touched. We even had to ask "are you sure?" because we know that she can be difficult. They had no problems with her and she came back happily and with all purrs. That says a lot about their practice and that they know how to care for cats, compared to Banfield. I cannot speak on behalf of dogs, but I feel like Banfield possibly does a better job with dogs. Not too many cat owners take their babies to the vet, so the staff may just be undertrained or nervous when it comes to cats. Do yourself and your kitty a favor and take them to a clinic that specifies in cats only. It will be a much more positive experience for the both of you!

Well, I've reviewed prior, but feel the need to update, last time!…read more This vet clinic has redeemed themselves on the nail trimming; we stopped in for vitamins for dinner on nail day and the techs offered, at which point I explained how the prior nail visit for my male went. Taking a chance after being promised the tech would pay close attention and not trim/charge if my male was too scared still, all 3 of my dogs got trimmed. This time around my boy came out miles better than last time tho he will never love his nails worked on! Next, while I haven't yet been back to see Dr. Bammel herself, I over the last few months have learned just how debilitating my anxiety makes MY ability to communicate, and so while my opinion on some things being pricey (I wish they had payment plans for established patients), I must say that my last review was largely based on my misunderstanding, thanks to where I was (not) with my anxiety. As y'all can see, Dr B does follow up, and as I found Bammel in part due to leaving a vet practice where zero compassion for/communication thru my debilitating anxiety made my dogs inadvertently suffer more, I was very surprised to see Dr B replied. So it's taken beyond visit 1 for me/us, but yes I DO feel that, as much as I can afford it, Westside will be my FIRST choice for my pets' health, not to mention my sanity. THANK YOU DOCTOR BAMMEL for not only caring about your clients, but the follow up with overly anxious owners; I am encouraged to know that some vets out there WILL understand the owner's anxiety, and try to work with them because the patients health matters most! #SoGreatful

I have a dog who has extreme fear of going to the vet. (I adopted him at age 2, so I don't know…read morehis back story.) He backs away, but becomes vicious and he is approached because he's cornered. Unfortunately, they labeled him on his records as "aggressive", and didn't handle his fearfulness appropriately. He was traumatize by the visit, but so was I. As a matter of fact, I've procrastinated about taking him back for a regular checkup because the entire experience was horrible. I know they've had turnover in staff recently. I don't know if they have experience with handling fearful dogs.

I felt awful calling so close to their close time but the lady that answered the phone assured me it was perfectly fine and to come on by. Our normal place of care is Banfield as we have a monthly plan with them, but they were booked up. They didn't try to get any extra tests/labs to get more money out of us or anything like that and recommended antibiotics and steroids to calm the symptoms down. Within a day our dogs paw was better and she wasn't limping anymore. The exam fee was $98 and we paid $151 in total. I really appreciate taking the time to help us so close to closing and paying attention to details. The staff treated our dog with exceptional care and lots of love. Thank you guys for providing genuine service

We've been taking our fur babies here for 6 years.Communication from the girls at the front desk…read morehas always been a little lacking. It was okay because we felt that Dr Rodriguez was very informative. He was never very loving to our babies but that was okay. One month ago we dropped our 12 yr old Shepard mix off for reverse sneezing and a running nose.Dr writes it off as allergies.A week later it continues and she became lethargic.Went back to Dr. He does an xray and camera in her nose.Tells us could be fungal, foreign body or cancer. He suggested a CT scan, referred us to a specialist. 48 hours later and the order was never sent. After multiple calls to push the order the scan is finally done.Dr will call once results were in.We got results the following Tuesday via email from specialist.Ended up having to call them to get results a few days later.Dr said we need a biopsy.Opted for a fungal test instead(less invasive and less costly)Process of elimination.Brought her back for test on Fri.Thurs, no call. Our dog started pouring blood from her nose.Called panicked, was told rudely by a lady in the office"Well, I guess you should bring her in".Found out then that they had the results since Mon.We didn't understand why we weren't informed. We rushed her in. Dr insisted he had called us and that it had gone straight to VM.We had no missed calls and no messages were left.We let him know how the office had treated us.He said he'd handle it.He stopped the bleeding, told us the fungal came back negative and this was most likely cancer. We were devastated. We brought her home completely broken hearted and prepared for the worst.Sunday seizures started. If you've experienced seizures, you know how upsetting they can be and how hard on the body they are.We called Monday morning.Spoke with Dr who told us to come pick up anti seizure meds right away, they would be ready immediately.Rushed over, was told by the ladies in the office that they weren't ready and to have a seat.Waited for about 10 minutes and then was told they did not have the meds in office but that they could call them in to our pharmacy.I said that was okay and headed over to ensure it was rushed.Waited at pharmacy for 30 minutes. They still hadnt received them.I called the vet in tears and asked if they could rush the script.Response from office:"I don't know what you want me to do.I can't just pull a tech from another customer to fill your script" I said okay but please hurry she is still seizing.I head home to wait and be with her.Another 40 minutes goes by and the pharmacy still has nothing. The pharmacy says theyll call to get a verbal.Call goes straight to VM.Turns out they closed for the rest of the day for training. At this point, I'm a mess.My baby is suffering and I have no help from the people I had trusted. My husband goes to the vet and knocks on the door.A tech answers,he explains. She apologizes, says she'll take care of him and puts him in a room. Dr Rodriguez comes in about 10 min later yelling "What are you expecting!?" Husband with tears in eyes explains he feels we were put on the back burner, we needed help and he doesn't understand why the script wasn't sent.Dr R continues yelling saying everything he has done for us.We have paid outrageous amounts of money to this man over the past month and past 6 years. He then yells "What do you want from me?!" Husband says "I just want the script for my dog"Dr gives it to him proceeds to follow him out of the office yelling the entire way. Hubby heads back to the pharmacy to find out Dr didn't fill in the quantity. He then had to go back and face the horrendous situation again. At 2pm we finally got the meds into our baby and get control of the seizures. She has had 4 in less than 18 hours. When you are dealing with end of life treatment for your babies,I highly recommend a vet and office staff with compassion.I honestly can't believe we were treated this way.Especially during such an emotional time. When it comes to vets,I recommend anyone but this one.Our babies already have a new doctor.
