Was looking for a couple specific vinyls for Xmas gifts. I've never been to Weirdsville Records so I gave them a call and found out they had both in stock. A small shop that is open to a bookstore. You might say half and half. Interesting selection of new and old. The people behind the counter were very talkative, to each other. It felt odd like I was there intruding. I like that they had an R&B selection. Found a couple of albums on my list. I'd probably stop in again. read more

I had some friends in town and took them to breakfast. As we were talking I mentioned shopping for vinyl nearby. Neither of them are into vinyl, but when I mentioned used books, their faces lit up! One of my friends has been learning Japanese for a while. She likes to use children's books to help. She spoke to the owner, and she walked her right over and pointed out a bunch of stuff they had. We ended up leaving with a box, not a bag! LOL it was a great haul! This is an amazing independent shop. I love coming here and flipping through records. read more

Guess it depends on who is working. First visit a friend and I were talking and the two employees behind the register kept laughing and making rude comments/faces to each other about what we were talking about. Repeating certain things we said to each other. My friend and I were the only two in the store and it was very obvious everything we said we were being listened to and scrutinized. These two were children in their late 20's who think it's cool to be rude and judgmental to strangers. Guess I thought since I manage in retail, I mainly saw terribly rude older employees, not younger ones. Didn't want to ever return and did not by choice. Went with a different friend. The worker was an older woman who did try to make it known she is around and watching (I support it I suppose) but did make small talk about our music choices as we walked through. As an out of towner I like traveling to different record shops to find things I can't in others and just checking out selections of merch. This place is everything you want in a record store that ALSO doubles, on the other half, as a book store. In the little sleepy downtown district of Mount Clemens. Prices were on par with the selection and quality of the vinyl. There were some others that were higher based on rarity. One of the owners was extra nice in telling me where I could find certain artist and genuinely had love for the music, namely Jimmy Smith. The merch was priced pretty good and they had plenty of shirts in my size, BONUS. When I'm in town I make it a point to stop in and finger thru the vinyl. GREAT place!! read more

Cool little place in the downtown area. I took some out of town guests to the store because they were looking for 45's for their jukebox. Found them. Plus my daughter needed some books from the Twilight series, found those also. Prices are decent and they have a good collection. read more

And first stop was somewhere in the 70s when Record Stores were Hip and people would flip through countless records for hours looking for a hidden gem while Lou Reed or The Ramones was spinning on the house deck. Weirdsville brings back all the warm fuzzy feels of days gone by. If you're a Vinyl junkie this is the place. They also have a major assortment of CDs books and other random coolness. OK store. I didn't like it but I think other people might like it. Jazz section is very bad. If you want Chuck Mangione and George Benson they have tons. "New" arrivals in the jazz section were up to 13 months old, and just a few within the last 6 months. The main new arrival section was bigger and had lots of stuff in the last month but no jazz. I didn't see any records I liked in jazz or classic rock. I bought one little thing just to make a purchase and the clerk said he gave me the wrong change and asked me to give him a dollar back after I put it in my wallet next to some other singles. I had no idea if he was wrong the first time or the second time. So I gave him a dollar to avoid a conflict. Classless. I didn't care for the in store stereo system because it was all bass and it was the distorted lumpy bass, not crisp and pure. The speakers were under the shelves. It was uncomfortable to sort through the records while the speakers were thumping my calves and thighs. Inventory is medium to large but mostly not good titles. And they have a big Crosley display, so that's another strike (4 strikes). I guess they want you to destroy your records. I'll probably give them another try in another six months. The location is nice. The interior is clean. The layout is good. read more

Decent little shop if you like rock records. Pretty slim on other genres. Used records are way overpriced. Some prices are higher than Discogs and Ebay prices. They do offer cash for your records, which is a plus. You'd be better served visiting some of the Detroit record stores. read more

If your turntable needs repair and you're not in a big hurry to get it back, you've found the right place. Dave and his wife own this welcoming store in downtown Mt.Clemens. Besides all the vinyl they sell, Dave repairs turntables. It takes a while for him to get to it, as he works full time doing something else, but his work is excellent. He repaired my vintage Marantz turntable 70's, it now works perfectly. New belt, oil, and many adjustments and good to go! He's so reasonable I felt he undercharged me! Gave him a bit more! On travel for work in Michigan and needed to visit a local record store. Weirdsville looked interesting and it turned out great! I could spend a lot time (and money) sorting through their records. They have a great collection of local, new and used vinyl. The owners are awesome! They helped me find interesting stuff and even stayed open late for me. I hope I get a chance to return. read more

This shop is pretty rad. Really conveniently placed and basically the last of its kind in the area. The atmosphere is super chill and you can find a lot of great records, new or old for not much at all. I also love the vintage/older/newer action figures/toys/etc that they have for sale, as well as the AWESOME selection of MAD magazines from back in the day. The book side is really cool too because I feel confident music people are book people too and there is also a great selection to choose from. If you need help finding something then just ask, they have A LOT of vinyl in there and they'll help you locate it. I've found some deep cuts searching here. read more
