If you need to rent an instrument, this is a good place to go! This was my 2nd time renting one of my kids an instrument for school. They have the music books needed as well. There is a portion of the monthly fee that goes toward repair or replacement, which does not include replacing the strings, FYI. The service has been good each time I've gone! read more

I was in the market for a Yamaha MODX keyboard. I try to give the "local guy" business if they earn it. As this keyboard is price controlled nothing was to be gained by an online purchase and in fact much was to be gained by purchasing from a local brick and mortar business. The folks at Welch were very friendly and accommodating and answered my questions on this complex keyboard admirably. I ended up walking out with the MODX8 and am happy to know I have a local knowledge source for future questions or needed support. read more

Ordered books online and were told this company would contact me and ship them to me. Since they were local. 14 days later........Welch's calls me and says "we have your books here do you want them shipped?" I like to support and buy from local businesses but this is why people Amazon. Who's knows when I'll actually get them, since after waiting 2 weeks they shipped them media and even that they charged me $11. Crazy. read more

I took my daughter's high end violen in there to be tuned the person that helped us had no idea how to deal with higher quality instruments tring to tell us we needed to put fin tuners on it. This is very un true. Do not trust your instruments to them. read more

Purchased a Yamaha Arius piano from Guitar Center in July, piano stopped powering on in about October (just barely past the 90 day return window). Guitar Center hands me off, without much concern, to Welch Music Center as the authorized Yamaha dealer to handle the issue. Welch Music's repair person went above and beyond what I expected to work through the issue and finally got the piano to work in early December--unfortunately, it looks like I have a bad/defective product (with no help/response from Guitar Center) and the piano has stopped working again..... I have no doubt Welch Music can help me get it resolved. While I have not purchased any products from Welch Music, my experience with their repair/warranty department has been outstanding. I have dealt with Welch for many years as a musician, as a mother of up-and-coming musicians, and as a business owner. Welch is a locally owned business that is thoughtfully run by people who care about and are involved in our community. For our children, who grew up in local music programs, they always had the music and instruments we needed, and the service was always top-notch and their prices were good. As a musician I can always find what I need there, and the staff, who have been there many years (which also says a lot) is helpful and attentive. As a business owner, we sometimes rent a grand piano from Welch and they do everything they can to accommodate our needs and our varying schedule. I can't say enough about what a well-run business this is, and how great they have been, and continue to be. Highly recommended. read more

I bought an expensive guitar from Welch Music via layaway. 10 months later, still can't get a receipt for the final purchase. Did eventually get one that was reproduced, but it had no purchase date on it. All I ever got was a runaround and verbally insulted at every turn. The guitar needed warranty repair with Yamaha and almost didn't happen because I couldn't produce a proof of purchase document. Had no choice but to turn it over to the Idaho Office of the Attorney General who is currently interceding on my behalf. In all my 50 years of life, I have never engaged in a purchase experience as bad as this one. Absolutely the worst! read more

Welch music offers insurance on rented instruments that DOES NOT COVER ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE! Dunkley Music DOES cover accidental damage. You may trust your kid to never accidentally damage an instrument - do you trust all of the people at school that it is exposed to? Also - got a guilt trip for bringing in a damaged instrument EVEN THOUGH I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR MYSELF??? The best part - they did not have a loaner - and the repair took 3 weeks. read more
