I took a two day class there and they were great. It was a good value and they were very helpful.

I was browsing, wasting some time in between appointments and just enjoying some me time. I had been to another sewing and vacuum store where i had spent a good 30+ minutes walking around ALL the machines, touching them analyzing them and not one person had acknowledged or asked if i needed help. I had purchased from Jones SEVERAL years ago while visiting eastern idaho's fair and remembered how friendly and helpful they were so i drove over to their Boise location, again to just browse. I walked in and one person was helping a customer pick out fabric and another employee was showing two ladies an arm quilter so i didn't expect them to help right away but within minutes of walking around the guy helping the quilters acknowledged me and said someone would be right with me, i was ok because I saw both of them busy. Then the other sales person called out to me and acknowledged me saying she would also be right with me. As soon as she was done she came over and asked if i had any questions, etc. we started talking about the sergers and how with one of my feet its hard to use a presser foot. She called out to another employee (Linda) and asked her while at the same time she was googling the question. They listened and didn't brush me off knowing the answer was all sergers sew with a pressing foot. Linda talked a little bit more about sergers but not with out acknowledging to the first sales person that she had stepped in. I ended up purchasing a serger. I only wish i had asked more about what the store offers or provides for the product since i purchased it from them i.e extended warranties and such or even a year or so of discounts from the store for making a sewing machine purchase but i am able to take some classes to learn my new machine which is definitely helpful. read more

I'm so impressed with the service and knowledge that was shown to me during my visit. The store got very busy, but they managed to help everyone without leaving my side. I took my machine in thinking I needed a repair. Everyone who works there were all very friendly and welcoming. They went through the machine with me and made several recommendations and gave me some tips. They never tried to sell me anything or push anything on me. The store is big and they have a lot of choices for machines, vacuums, parts and some fabric. I will be taking in my other machines for service without hesitation. I inherited my mama's 1950s Singer sewing machine in 2008, but wasn't able to face using it until 2024 because it made me miss her so much. I took it to Jones for a "spa day" to be inspected and serviced. I was pleased that they were familiar with the machine, despite its age. When I used it, the machine worked just as well for me as it always had for Mama. Great service, staff, and pricing! read more

I have been sewing on the same Elna sewing machine for 47 years. We'll, she fell asleep and can't be awakened. May she rest in peace...I went to Jones Sew & Vac on the recommendation of my tech guy. I purchased a new, shinny machine. Brought it home and hated it! I firmly believe it had issues. I decided to return it and exchange it for a different machine. They couldn't have been more accommodating. She was lovely and understood my frustration. She exchanged it for a machine that was 1/2 the price with no worries. Thank you so much for making my day! Yesterday, my fiance and I brought 4 vacuums and a sewing machine to the Fairview location for service st approximazely 530 pm. The bell rang when we walked in but no one there to greet us. Heard 2 ladies talking on the other side of the store, one seated at a sewing machine, not sewing consistently and another leaning over her. We were waiting in the vacuum section. We waited 7.5 minutes without a single acknowledgement of our presence. Finally, we left, again without an apology or acknowledgement. We wont be back. Would not recommend. read more

Called and talked to Chris about my old Dyson Animal (13 years old). Said would be 3-5 days. Dropped it off that day and was told 5-7 days from the lady that wrote me up. Couple of hours later Chris said he has to oder parts and he could guarantee how long it would. 3 hours later he called and said he found the parts and my vacuum was ready. 3-5 days turned into 3-5 hours! When I went to pick it up lady was surprised to see me. Highly recommend this place!! read more

Unfortunately, they were unable to help as she informed me that Shark does not authorize independent service providers. Bummer!! I had purchased a Viking Embroidery machine from another Viking retailer in the valley, it was just 3 1/2 year old and it broke in the middle of a Christmas project. I took my project and machine into the other dealer and they told me that the machine couldn't be fixed, parts were no longer made for my 3 1/2 year old very expensive machine. I asked if I would be able to use one of their floor models to just finish the project. I had the thread and the bobbin with me and it would only take less then a half an hour to finish. They told me that I could not use a machine, then proceeded to try to talk me into a new machine that I could take home that day and could finish my project on my new machine. I was not happy with the Viking Product at that moment and the last thing I wanted to do was by another machine from that dealer, that couldn't even help when I was in direr need just 3 days before Christmas. I had taken some classes that were responded by Jones Sew and Vac and thought I would see if they could help out. I also had been eyeing the Brother Dream Machine that we used in class and also was very impressed with the Jones staff at the classes I had attended. I walked in with my machine and also my project. I was warmly greeted my Orion and decided to ask him if the machine could be fixed. He looked at it and told me that if it needed a part it would take a while to get the part from China but assured me it could be done and fixed. I then told him I was interested in the Brother Dream Machine and asked for a demonstration. He sat down with me and we talked, after I was really wanting the machine I wasn't able to purchase it at this time but would think about it and see if I could do it later. He saw my project and asked if I needed to use a machine to finish it. Wow, I didn't even have to ask and I hadn't bought an expensive machine from him either. In February I attended another class at the store and Orion presented a offer that I thought was really great and I bought my Dream Machine. That day I also picked up my fixed Viking. Since that day I have been able to take 2 sewing classes and have had a lot of one on one help during the pandemic. Everyone in the store is extremely friendly and helpful. read more

****UPDATE**** So I have to take this review back. Orion Jones of Jones Sew and Vac himself called me and apologized. Then personally came out to our house and fixed Mom's sewing machine. I was very highly impressed that he cared enough to do everything he could to make the situation right. He even offered a refund, which we declined. Mom's machine is working correctly now. He assured me that he had a conversation with his employee. He definitely went farther than I expected to fix the situation. Mom says she will send me back to him in the future for anything else she needs. read more

An extraordinarily indifferent cynical and unhelpful staff who not only refused to asses a Shark product and attempt a repair but used our time and issues to try and up sell a product they freely admitted they weren't familiar with. I recently purchased a vintage sewing machine at an estate sale but couldn't get the bobbin to work properly. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door and he had my problem diagnosed within a few minutes. I wasn't sure if I should leave it there for a full tune-up, but he thought it wasn't really necessary. Thank you for taking the time to look the machine over and give me an honest assessment - I thought it was in pretty good shape but could have been convinced otherwise since I am a sewing novice. I always prefer to support a local store where I am treated fairly, so I'll continue to come in and purchase my sewing supplies here. Five stars for sure. read more

A wonderful family run business with a friendly knowledgeable staff and the best selection of vacuums and sewing machines and quilting machines in the Treasure Valley. I have used a Riccar Radiance vacuum for over a year now, and it is amazing, and made in America, and built to last. I can vacuum carpet with my Shark vacuum cleaner and get just as much or more dust and dog hair vacuumed up with Riccar, directly after vacuuming with the Shark. Jones Sew and Vac is definitely worth going down to check out and talking with Orion or Michelle. Always great deals down there and great inventory and project displays. I am always greeted when I enter the store. I have purchased a sewing/embroidery machine and a Scan N Cut from Jones. They offer free classes with purchases. The classes are very good and helpful - the instructors are thorough and take the time to explain the different processes. My wife was looking for an embroidery machine and we looked at all of the stores in the Boise area. The decision came down to the brand of the machine (focusing on features and stitch quality) and the support that we could expect from the store. She was a Bernina fan but it looks like Bernina has fallen behind on features and their "ala carte" method of selling the basic system at a fairly high cost without a lot of necessary things (hoops, software, etc.) means you have to spend a bunch more to get a useful package, that seems annoying. Orion at Jones Sew and Vac put together a really good package on a Brother machine at a good price and everyone there seemed friendly and helpful. Now it has been a year and we feel really good about the purchase and about the folks at the store. They run great classes, they have a well stocked store, run good specials and really help you get the most out of the machine. read more
