Sweet and crisp! Great choice of fresh fruits, produce, cheese and even meat! The little cafe has lunch specials. Usually it's a sandwich special. Pretty reasonable and cute eating area. They also have a selection of specialty sauces, jams, etc., as well as crafts and knick knacks to choose from! Make a stop here. You'll enjoy it!

You can often find them at various farmer's markets. During the wintertime, you can find them at Horsefeathers Winter Market, North Tonawanda and a few other locations (listed on their web site). They also offer a variety of CSA's and if you're looking to buy 200lb worth of cow to last you the whole winter, summer, year or whatever; they would be some of the best local purveyors to get it from. Prices are higher than your typical supermarket ground beef, but you get what you pay for with very succulent ground beef. I find grassfed beef has a bit of a different taste and prefer it, so whenever convenient I buy my burgers from these guys. The farm also supplies a good amount of beef for Lloyd Taco Trucks as well as tomatillos, cilantro and other veggies. The people who run the farm and their staff are superbly friendly. Next time you see these guys at a farmers market, I highly recommend trying some of their products! I'd love to read some more reviews from people who have tried their CSAs as well.

Kent and the gang, aka Plato Dale and the Sunshine Kids, can be seen regularly at Horsefeathers and Farmers and Artisans in the winter, and all over town during the growing season. The farm offers shares of vegetables and meat (including grass fed jersey cows and other breeds on occasion) and pick up points from North Tonawanda to West Seneca and downtown Buffalo to Arcade. We've purchased a half cow from the farm, as well as loads of produce. They even have farm friends in Florida and supply organic citrus around the holidays (Hint: your oranges should not be perfectly orange and round. They should be a little uglier.) If you aren't convinced by my own enthusiasm, you might be convinced by the fact that several great Buffalo restaurateurs including Peter & Chris of Lloyd's and Steve Gedra of Black Sheep (and formerly of Bistro Europa) regularly supply from Plato Dale. These are heavy hitters and a great testament to the quality and deliciousness of Kent's food. My one complaint, to be fair and unbiased in my review, is the pricey eggs the farm produces. But they're offset by the price-to-quality ratio of everything else they grow and sell, so, water under the bridge!! If you're looking for a local supplier of farm fresh food, Plato Dale should be your first stop.

On the corner of Rt 39 and Rt 20A in NY (near Leicester) there is a farm stand. In the Spring, Summer and Fall they have produce. You never really know what you will get there, its literally what the farmer drove in from the field that morning. So whatever is ripe and he felt like picking I guess. Recently they have had corn, which really is best if eaten the day its picked, forget Wegmans corn, find a farm stand or farmers market near you and get it that way. Just yesterday they had peaches and plums as well. Some gourds for the upcoming fall season. This is on the honor system. Prices are posted on a few boards, and you go from there. I never need 12 ears of corn, so I just divide by 3 for the 4 I do want. You can do the same. There is a black lockbox there for the money. I happened to be there when one of the farmers was dropping off the corn, so chatted with him for a moment. I have been driving by here for over a decade, and have often stopped by, always thought the honor system was terrific, and let him know that. He did say sometimes people don't pay, and once or twice they have had money stolen, but that for the most part this system worked well. This is a very safe place to stop, there is plenty of room for all cars and its very open and easy to see. So, if you are in the area, do yourself and your stomach a favor and stop here to see if there is anything of interest for you today. Forgot to mention, they also sell wood there, not something I buy, but I noticed it yesterday. I cant comment on the pricing of that, but I can say for 4.25 for 12 ears (+1 or 2 as the sign says) for corn, Im guessing the wood price is reasonable. The peaches were 2.50 for a small basket (and they are very good). And they have some plastic bags to make it easy for you to carry as well. I'm sure its obvious, but just in case, CASH ONLY. Correct change.
