I tried to avoid eye contact with the men sitting in chairs watching a TV on the wall as I went to the register to pay. But as the cashier tried to scan the bottle he stopped, looked up and asked me to hold on for a second. I thought maybe the bottle wouldn't scan or something and he needed to know the price because he walked to the back of the store, opened the refrigerated case I got it from, and commenced to pulling out one bottle after another looking at the labels, tucking it under his arm and pulling out the next one. It was then I realized they were probably expired. By this point the TV dudes were now standing behind me in line. As I awkwardly turned around we all mumbled to one another about what the issue was likely to be. We all watched the cashier end up with an armful of oj and then go into the back stockroom. He came back out maybe 10 seconds later, and now he only had one bottle of juice in his hand. When he got to the register and set it down I asked "was it expired or something?" And he pauses and goes, "......yeah" and then as he was ringing me up his eyes opened wide. I added, "by a lot??" and he chuckles and goes "I don't know if I wanna say" I'm like "dang that long, huh?" and we laughed. As the men behind me commented to each other and me that the cashier had not only noticed something most people wouldn't, but that he had gone the extra mile, I looked over my shoulder and agreed while paying for my fresh snacks. I thanked the cashier for catching that and asked his name. His name was Jesus. Thanks for everything, Jesus. You're the man!
