If you're purchasing a home, you absolutely MUST call this company and ask for Jeff Tillery! Let me tell you...this is now the THIRD time that Jeff has been a crucial part of our home buying process, and we'll are customers for life! My family moved to the Asheville area from Los Angeles nearly 2 years ago, and we knew that we'd be jumping in the real estate investment market once we arrived. I also started a small renovation and interior design company after landing here. With that in mind, we knew the first home that we'd purchase in WNC would be a renovation project that we would live in for a couple years while renovating, and then eventually convert it into a vacation rental. The house that we ultimately purchased was my 7th offer. It was insane. FIVE other offers of mine on fixer uppers were outbid, and the sixth was actually a property that I put an offer on (and felt like it was priced extremely low). When the seller countered, I was on the fence and told them I wanted to get an inspection before accepting the counter. The seller's agent actually provided me with an inspection that had been prepared by Jeff and I was blown away. The level of detail, thorough and labeled photographs, wide variety of issues covered, and extremely helpful notes and descriptions throughout the report were so impressive. In fact, this report was what ultimately helped me decide not to purchase that property. But the best part of that process was walking away knowing that whatever home I would ultimately purchase MUST be inspected by Jeff. By the time I finally found the 7th home, I had already come and left Asheville. At this point, time was running out and I knew I'd just have to take a leap of faith and purchase our home sight unseen. It was a gutsy move, but the only thing that truly gave me the confidence to do so was having Jeff perform the home inspection for me. He was my eyes and ears on the ground. His comprehensive report was so thorough, honest, and comprehensive. I already knew that it would take some work, but it really assisted me to pinpoint exactly what I needed to focus in on. At the moment I landed in Asheville with our kids, my husband drove our five pets 2,300 miles cross-country. All I had was exactly the 6 days between closing and when we needed to have the house ready to move in. In that 6 days, I had lined up all my sub-contractors to work simultaneously to encapsulate the crawlspace, rip out & replace the floors, new plumbing. paint, and so much more. I knew exactly what needed to be taken care of quickly, and what could wait longer due to Jeff's thorough report. Two years later, I'm nearly finished remodeling and I can honestly say that there hasn't been a single unexpected problem that I've encountered thanks to his report. And as of a week ago, I now find myself in the midst of another (and much larger) potential purchase that will require a MUCH larger renovation since there is so much about this new home in disrepair. Once the offer was accepted, Quality Home Consultants was one of the first calls I made. Jeff was out today to insect the potential new purchase and I couldn't be more thrilled (and at ease) as I tackle the renovation plan and map out the phases. His expertise really gives me the ability to prioritize what needs to be done first. Needless to say, I highly recommend Quality Home Consultants for your home inspection. I'm be a lifelong loyal repeat customer. They even provide a repeat customer discount. I couldn't be more grateful for this company!

Our buyer paid for a septic inspection from Quality. They showed up, hit the power line to our…read morepump, and left. Never completed the inspection and left the broken electrical line in our backyard. Several hours later someone showed up to "fix" the line. A few days later our septic guy came to put on a riser and found a buried electric cap. Upon digging further he found an exposed wire and a second cut area in the line, neither of which were properly wrapped for underground lines. We ended up paying an electrician to properly fix the issue and I called the owner of Quality to let him know what happened. He responded that it's in their contract the buyer pays for any damage they cause to the property and that I should be happy they didn't charge me to come back and fix it the first time. He then proceeded to hang up on me. If you are thinking of using them I would take caution. Their business policy seems to be putting blame on others.

He confirmed my concerns but backed it up with evidence, pictures, a report and was available for phone calls to ask questions. Turns out the basement in our rental was highly toxic and the HVAC was leaking the air into our air system and it was making us sick! I am lucky that I had a homeowner willing to deal with everything and I really did need Rick and his report to get her to understand the severity of what was going on. Rick is exceptional and when I'm ready to buy a home here I will be using his services before I purchase. I highly recommend hiring him. At one point one of the people that came to seal the HVAC saw the report Rick gave me and was amazed at how thorough and detailed it was. He said he was incredibly impressed and that he's been in the business for 30 years and wanted to have Rick's contact information. When you hear that from another business owner that is in a similar line of work you know you found someone great! Not that I needed anybody to validate that for me but it feels worth repeating.

Not only is he certified in many fields, but he has practical experience that makes all the difference. One of the reasons why I picked Rick is because he only does inspections. He does not do actual repairs. This is wonderful because I know he is free of any bias or interest in discovering expensive issues. Rick started out by asking us what our concerns and issues were. We initially wanted him to inspect for mold that was causing health problems. That was just one of the many things Rick did for us. Rick did a complete top to bottom inspection of the house. He looked for problems with energy efficiency, health issues, comfort issues, etc. He not only identified problems, but sat down and explained the best and least expensive way to address each issue on our own whenever possible. He told us what we need to do and offered to help guide us on any projects we might have to undertake in order to improve the quality of our house. He also prepared a full report with pictures so we could identify each issue. After the inspection Rick has continued to provide insight and advice on how to tackle each issue that was found. Most of the repairs would've cost us a lot of money if we had outside contractors do it, but Rick told us how to easily do these things ourselves. He has checked up on us several times and has provided great assistance in getting some of the items we needed, but were unsure how to procure. Rick has been nothing but helpful and his service far exceeds the modest price we were charged. I will be sure to have him inspect any new home we may ever have or even to assist with any major remodeling of the house. I will be recommending him to all of my friends. If I could offer one piece of advice for any homeowner, potential buyer, or even someone looking to have work done on their house it would be to first call Rick and have him do an inspection. You would be amazed at the things he would be able to tell you that other inspectors would not even care about. For the modest price he charges, you would be a fool to spend full dollar before having him look your home over. Remember he does not do any actual repairs or work with referrals so you know you are getting an unbiased inspection. The only bias he has is to help you live in the best environment possible.
