My husband and I went in for lunch this past weekend and as usual, had a great meal. My husband ordered the bento box which was very similar to most places just more food here and much fresher. They've got a new waitress that was very pleasant and the owner was present as well. He sent us four pieces if his delish fried California roll topped with an absolutely wonderful sauce! I kinda wish they had weekend lunch specials but I understand that they are still fairly new trying to make ends meet. Hands down my family's favorite sushi restaurant ever!!! Whether it's dine in, take out, or any occasion this is where we order! Even my co-workers have started to order from here. The best thing about them is they're very generous with the portions of the fish unlike other sushi restaurants and everything is super fresh. They're also very giving with sides like soup and salad and on the house friend California roll which I also love about them. The price isn't bad at all with the amount of food you're getting. Have eaten at this place before but decided to post a review after I had ordered 4 bento boxes for lunch during this covid-19 social distancing effort. First let me just describe what I ordered. 2 chicken teriyaki bento boxes , 1 salmon bento and 1 bulgoki bento. food was delicious as always but that isn't the point. The point is Came to pick up the order.. had a table outside . Brought my order out. All employees looked like they were in hazmat suits. Went to pay. Told me to put card in sterilized container. Took out my card and put it in a sterile solution swiped put it back in the solution sterilized a pen and gave me my card back and I signed with the sterilized pen.. this is outstanding. I'm a bit disappointed. I came to this place because I've heard many good things about well-being and after reading the reviews and seeing the 4 stars on yelp I was excited to try it out. We entered through the back and seated ourselves. Our waitress came 5 minutes later to give us a menu. It took a while to place an order although there was no one really in the restaurant. And when I asked if they had more spicy seasoning the waitress just looked at the other tables that and gave me another empty bottle. Anyway, my girlfriend ordered the super spider roll and I ordered the 3 sushi combo. I must say the super spider roll was delicious! And huge! But the spicy crab and spicy tuna I ordered was literally just tuna and crab with spicy mayo on top. A lot of spicy mayo! I'm not impressed. Service was ehh. Sushis were big but could have been better. And my salad portion that came with my meal was literally a leaf! At least they gave a free fried California but deep frying the sushi took away from the flavor and ruined the roll. read more

Well Being never disappoints. I have ordered from here several times in the last couple of years and the sushi has always been consistently great. I drive 20 minutes to get take out from here, which is much longer than I would drive for any other restaurant I order from. Their sushi rolls are huge. Their prices are what you would normally expect from a suburban sushi joint. But you really get what you pay for and more. They throw in a complimentary miso soup and side salad with ginger dressing, a nice touch. Also a few pieces of a fried California roll. The fish has always been good. Avocado, always fresh. They got some awesome specialty rolls- honorable mention to the black scallop roll, black dragon roll and the jumbo spider roll. This is my go-to place for sushi when I'm back in the neighborhood. Their rice is always fresh and never hard and everything tastes relatively fresh. I usually order food to go, which is what I feel a majority of people do, but this time around I decided to eat in with my cousins. We ordered a bunch of sushi and it all came out within 10 minutes of ordering despite the restaurant being almost completely full. I deducted a star because of the service. The waiters and waitresses seem to be high school kids, either kids of the owners or family friends. Nothing impressive, just refilling water and taking down your order. My first red flag was when I watched the sushi chef with gloves literally eating crab at the bar chewing with his mouth open. He proceeded (again with gloves) to wipe his nose. I should have left at that point. Seaweed salad was fine, yakitori chicken tasted heavily marinated with knorr Caldo bouillon. Then we get to the sushi....first thing the wasabi looks like a poo emoji very liquid light colored and from a squeeze tube. Even though the descriptions may not have mentioned spicy mayo, they were drowning in it. The rolls themselves were huge and clunky, everyone of them fell apart as we tried to pick them up. PROS: This has the best tasting Japanese food around. Located in a shopping plaza on the edge of Dumont, this place has a variety of food that anybody can choose from. The parking is good and the waitresses are very nice, one is even cute last time I was there. The food tastes great and the bathroom is very clean. CONS: The place is tiny and can get crowded very quickly. The waitresses are slow when checking up on you, and the kitchen is even slower when making the food. The drinks are very minimal and the prices are to high, even though it's good quality. Sometimes its hard to communicate with them since English isn't their strong suit. OVERALL: This is my favorite Japanese restaurant in the area. It has good quality, nice staff, and good parking. The bathroom is usually clean and the menu has a lot on it. Fantastic local sushi place with some creative sushi rolls. The bento box lunch sets are reasonably priced and delicious. The fish is fresh, I have never had any problems. They are also pretty generous with the fish portions on the special rolls. I love the fact they include a free fried California roll for every table. The best time to go would be for lunch, the specials are cheapest during this period. The more pricey special rolls weigh in at about a pound and you wont leave here hungry. read more

Seeing that this place has loyal patrons and the positive reviews made me seek this place out. A small mom-pop joint, not much of an ambience for dining in, but there are several tables. We ordered hwe dup bap, which is basically a salad, sushi, rice bowl with spicy Korean red pepper paste dressing; two well being special rolls- I think spicy girl and French kiss rolls. Overall the food is just ok. They give ridiculous portions. The special rolls have a diameter of a child's fist. It takes 2 to 3 bites for me to eat a slice of the roll. They also give you huge chunks of avocado. We love avocado but it was just too much. Between the two rolls and the hwe dup bap, I think the two of us probably ate 3 whole avocados. The fish to rice ratio is unbelievable as the cut of sushi is fairly thick. They also gave us a complimentary roll with shrimp tempura in it. What a thoughtful gesture but I just wanted to cry because it was just so much food. This is the only sushi place where we couldn't finish our food. The special rolls are really huge so 2 of those are too much for one person. Nice people, but only one lady takes care of all the tables, plus getting take out orders and packaging them to go. So, the service is lacking but she's very friendly. I do want to like this place but a few things are holding me back from making me a repeat customer: - fish quality is subpar to average. - while rolls are creative, they lack a bit of refinement - spicy tuna and salmon are not that spicy and more heavy in mayo (surprising because most Korean sushi places makes them spicy) I think I'll try this place one more time and order simpler rolls next time before I write it off. read more

We've being go eating at Well-Being Sushi since it opened and have reviewed the excellent food and friendly service many times. In fact, Well-Being Sushi and its owner/sushi chef John have become friends and it is our favorite neighborhood restaurant which we go to weekly. However, I never commented on its unusual name: "Well-Being" Sushi. Recently, I read a book about "hygge" the Danish (but actually Norwegian) word used to describe Scandinavian feelings of happiness, contentness, embrace, and comfort. In other words: "Well-Being." And hygge is how I feel about going to, eating at, and leaving Well-Being Sushi. Everything fits together, the food is excellent, very reasonably priced, service attentive, and I always -always- leave happy! read more
