Where to begin! Dr. Straeter and her staff exceeded my expectations. Sam is a heartworm positive…read morerescue I took in last October. He had what was believed to be an embolism from the heartworms dying off. I was referred to Animal Cardiology by my local veterinarian to get extensive care to ensure Sam has a bright future. Dr. Straeter is SO knowledgeable and goes over and beyond to care for her patients. She is so kind and patient, answering every question thoughtfully and thoroughly. Tracie and Stormie were a significant part of Sam's care too and I cannot say enough good things about them in the way they handle their positions, each pup, and the paying customers. They have a dynamic team. I highly recommend them and will continue to keep Sam in their care or others that may need their care in the future. One happy rescuer...

Included with every visit is a cute little photo of your pet (although Tootie usually looks terrified ). I keep mine in my car and it makes me so happy to see my baby every time I drive. The staff is also very responsive to emails/texts/phone calls. They are quick to send your primary vet any updates on your pet from their most recent cardiology appointment, and also willing to weigh in or collaborate with your primary vet if your problem isn't heart related (for example Tootie had pancreatitis recently and I wanted to verify that all the new meds being prescribed were okay for him to take with his current heart meds). I cannot sing enough praises for this business! They have made such a positive impact on our lives. Honestly, I'm an ER Nurse and I wish all medical practices coordinated/collaborated care the way Dr. Straeter does for her patients!

Our experience ended after 4-1/2 days, $4000 later and emergency surgery at Mississippi State because VSB failed proper care for our dog. They lack proper staffing, proper educated staff and failure of anyone overseeing operations there. I havevreached out to the Director Dr. Tony who called me once and I missed his call. I've tried 3 days and he has been too busy and gone by 3pm. No other person to talk to. Over expensive, poor staffing to take care of your pet, and no communication. Beware!!!!!

We brought our Chocolate Lab in after she had been dry heaving, throwing up, diarrhea, and not acting like herself for about 24 hours. When we arrived, they immediately took her to the back--which we understood--but then we didn't get a single update for over an hour and a half. We finally had to go ask someone, and all we were told was "she's stable"... which she already was before we came in. Another hour went by with no communication. I went up to the front desk again, only to find the receptionist asleep. After waking her and asking for help, it took even longer before a doctor finally came to speak with us. The doctor told us we could do X-rays but also said that if anything abnormal showed up, they wouldn't be able to treat it there. She said she'd be back with a price on the x-rays so we could make a decision. She never came back so I had to go back to the receptionist (which was sleeping again) to ask for a price. So essentially, we'd be paying hundreds of dollars just to be told something could be wrong--with no solution offered.  To make matters worse, while I was at the desk, the receptionist basically told me our dog wasn't a priority and that another animal who came in 2.5 hours after us was being seen and treated first.  After spending 3.5 hours there, we left with no answers, no treatment, and still hadn't properly seen or been updated about our dog. Of course we still had to pay. Not sure what we paid for to be honest. For them to put our dog in a crate for 3.5 hours?  I completely understand emergency situations can be unpredictable, but the lack of communication, urgency, and basic professionalism was honestly shocking. If you care about your pets and want clear communication during a stressful time, I would strongly reconsider going here.
