I love Korean food and it is one of the cuisines I badly miss here in Vienna. While there are many Asian food stalls everywhere, it is hard to find one that offers Korean food; most Asian food stalls offer Chinese or Japanese. So I was very happy when I discovered Wellbeing Sushi Roll To Go located inside the Karlsplatz Bahnhof.
My husband and I tried Korean specialties which we really missed: Bibimbap (mixed rice, meat, and vegetables), Hoedeopbap (mixed rice, vegetables, and raw fish - in this case salmon), Frühlingsrolle (Spring Rolls) and Seetang Salat (Seaweed Salad) as an appetizer and side dish. We also bought a bottle of aloe vera juice which was very refreshing.
I was very satisfied with the food because the ingredients were fresh and the dishes tasted like a homemade Korean meal or a well-balanced Asian dish. None of the dishes were too oily. The taste of sesame was subtle yet evident as it should be. The taste of the vegetables blended really well and I could say the same thing for the colors of the ingredients. The seaweed salad, with its slight mix of sweetness and sourness, enhanced my appetite and because of that flavor the seaweed did not taste very fishy. I was able to eat a substantial meal and still felt light after eating.
The place may not be elegantly-designed and admittedly it is quite small, but I like how the literal transparency of the place (being made of glass and the door being open) allows me to see the prices so I know early on if I can afford to eat here or not. While at first impression it seems that the prices are generally more expensive than other Asian stalls, the Korean specialties are actually the more affordable dishes in Wellbeing. In addition, other Asian stalls in the city rarely offer Bulgogi and do no offer Bibimbap or Hoedeopbap at all. I suggest that if you were to eat here in Wellbeing, order any of those three Korean specialties and eat them with one or preferably more side dishes (perhaps the Kimchi and the Seetang Salat) as is the style in Korean cuisine.
This place also offers cuisines that are more Asian Fusion, Japanese or Chinese, but you can get those Asian Fusion, Chinese, or Japanese dishes cheaper in other Asian food stalls; your money will be better spent with ordering the Korean specialties. read more
