Second, not most impressive visit I've ever had. Once in the exam room, I passed the time listening to the exam questions in the next room, the multiple hallway conversions regarding two prescription refills, and the visit with the Merck reps (and how the doctor got accused by an insurance company of prescribing a vaccine to a non-qualified patient). Without any headphones on, I couldn't turn off my ears and not hear. I then spent most of my exam listening to Dr. Berry complain about the insurance company and talk in detail (without giving name, but if I knew enough people in Boerne, I could've guessed) about two other patients' health. Apparently, enforcing patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations isn't high on the list. The wait time was a bit long. The exam was extremely brief in comparison to any other exam (and I've had my fair share of women's health exams), and I had to remind the doctor multiple times about what type of medication I wanted. This could've been an off day, but it was enough to make me switch doctors after just one visit. (Poster's note: Review was for visit in November 2011. Just got around to finishing.)

Despite having both primary and secondary insurance on file, the office has refused to bill the secondary insurance for the allergy-related services and instead is attempting to collect an estimated amount based on primary insurance directly from us. What makes this even more frustrating is that they did bill the secondary insurance for his primary care visit during the same time frame, which clearly shows they have the information and ability to process it. This inconsistent billing practice has created unnecessary stress and confusion. Patients should not have to chase down billing issues or be pressured to pay out of pocket when a secondary insurance policy exists that should be billed first. We have tried to address this with the office but have not received a reasonable resolution. Transparency and consistency in billing are basic expectations in healthcare, and unfortunately that has not been our experience here. I would recommend that patients ask detailed questions about how this clinic handles secondary insurance billing--especially for specialty services like allergy testing--before agreeing to treatment. I had to wait about 15 minutes and had about 4 people in front of me. Everyone was very kind and caring from start to finish. I went in because I had been sick all week and was tired of going into urgent care. I was throwing up most of the day and wanted this stomach bug to go away. I probably spent about a hour total there. The nurses and doctors heard my concern and ran test to make sure nothing was out of the ordinary. Overall, I was pleased with my visit. I was told that was what my doctor was for a he had me pee in a cup to check for bladder infection which I already told I knew I didn't have. Had to go emergency room for a few months later.
