This was my first time and had a great experience! I called my insurance prior to arriving to make sure my visit would be smooth. The wait time online was accurate. I had to wait about 15 minutes and had about 4 people in front of me. Everyone was very kind and caring from start to finish. I went in because I had been sick all week and was tired of going into urgent care. I was throwing up most of the day and wanted this stomach bug to go away. I probably spent about a hour total there. The nurses and doctors heard my concern and ran test to make sure nothing was out of the ordinary. Overall, I was pleased with my visit. They told me they would mail me my bill, so I'm eager to see how much this visit cost. read more

I received pretty good care. I fell at work so gracefully. Ended up with a left eye shiner and what I found out later at the ER, a dislocated shoulder and a fractured humerus. Yep, it was a Monday all right. My glasses are toast and I'm glad the broken temple didn't go through my eye. Dr. Miller and nurses Theresa, Sarah and Michelle took care of me. Really good care. Explained what was going on along the way. Got my shot of morphine and a tetanus shot. CAT scan of my head revealed no issues. X-ray found the dislocation and fracture. Conscious sedation to pop the shoulder back into place. Ketamine is awesome!! It was like an acid trip, colored geometric shapes swirling around. When I came out of it, my pain had been reduced to '1', really low. I now am in a sling. Will be seeing an ortho doc about the fracture. Wish me well. I deserve a couple of days off. read more

I have now had two terrible experiences at this place. The first was last year when my blood pressure dropped very low and my blood ox was very low. My doctor told me to go to the ER in Boerne. After about two hours, they said that I had a spot on my heart and sent me to the Methodist in San Antonio. After examination at the Methodist, I was told there was no spot on my heart and that was perfectly fine, but they did not know what was wrong for a day or two and then discovered that I had a lung infection. My next experience was Saturday morning. My husband woke up, had bruising around his abdomen that just appeared overnight, a swollen face, and he could only take about eight steps without gasping for breath. We took him into the ER and after about an hour and a half, Dr. Miller said there was nothing wrong with him and send him home. I know my husband and I could tell there was something major wrong. So I ignored his advice and took my husband to the emergency room at the university hospital in San Antonio. It only took them about an hour to discover that he had fluid on his stomach, fluid in his lungs and fluid around his heart. My husband got excellent care at the University Hospital and is now home. He has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure and has been put on hospice. If I had paid attention to Dr. Miller and done nothing, my husband would be deceased by now. The doctors at the university could not believe that we were told there was nothing wrong. They said they only had to use a stethoscope to listen to his heart and lungs, and they would have been able to hear the crackling from the fluid. I will never use this ER again. Even though it is convenient for me, I will opt to drive into San Antonio to one of the big hospital ERs. read more

AVOID THIS ER. Interesting how in the lobby they have a large sign about aggressive patients. However, they should replace that sign with a warning sign about AGGRESSIVE DOCTORS: characteristics are 1. Will not listen to the patient 2. Zero bed side manner 3. Will yell at patients. This is what I experienced with Dr.Miller. Sad that there are doctors out there that obviously join this profession for the wrong reasons. My husband went there for kidney stones 2 times and was told to go home, it will pass on its own. He has surgery to get them removed after visiting a specialist the next day. The staff was terrible and laughed at my husband saying he could wait and they will get right to him. He asked to go to the restroom and needed some help. They proceeded to laugh outside the door and having personal conversations. He had to get up on his own. It was a great idea to have ER care so close to home Sadly their service is terrible and their staff needs additional training in a simple smile and professionalism. Our family and anyone who asks about care in Boerne will know how terrible the service was. if possible the drive to San Antonio is worth it. read more

I was hoping for a positive outcome but unfortunately not the case. Some women at the charge station unsure if nurse or not does not like "her" area with one standing person(nurses station). My husband wanted to relay to the Doctor that just walked out of the room what the Sheriffs office wanted him To immediately relay of importance for the injury. The Dr walked out as my husband got off the phone so followed her to the nurse station to quietly get her attention. Loud mouth Lady immediately gets on his ass jumps out of her chair and stampedes her way to the room talking about how she is use to running her area like military. Again he was the only person at the nurse station right behind my treating Doctor. Then goes into explaining the nurse button walks out and bitches to my nurse how she had to educate us about the nurse button. Ok my husband MARINE, myself worked and still work around many military personnel to know this lady did not want to be at work. Lady was just a BITCH. We ignored and carried on. We both are street, military and book ( carry BA degrees) educated if that mattered to the lady. But it wouldn't have. I kept my cool while in so much pain and drugs as my husband laughed. I knew what he meant. Military branches have their own inside jokes. Next my work requires a specific form to return to duty. I asked if I could email to them directly since I don't carry a printer on me after being transported by EMS forty minutes one way from my residence. The answer was "no" go back home and come back later with the form for Doctor to complete. I have been completely knocked out on meds now going on three days. Wounds are worse and I did have my husband transport me to another hospital. I am now in good hands. Paperwork complete. If I had to choose again for transport it will not be to this location. Horrible this hospital is in my network. Yes my husband could have returned to complete my necessary work return to duty paperwork. It was less of a hassle the other route. I emailed my form to the other ER we visited They printed it and it was completed. I also took a copy just in case they were unable to print. I do not recommend this facility. The Doctor and my nurse did their job and treatment. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would!! Staff is horrible and rude!! We took our youngest child in because we thought she might have ingested some of my husband's medication. He rushed her to the ER before we could count the pills to make sure she did not ingest anything. Our baby is 15 months old and the ER staff isn't that well trained on young children. They kept trying to start an IV in her and failed multiple times. One male nurse even started fishing around. My child is screaming at the top of her lungs. I asked him not to do that and I would like to have another nurse. So two female nurses come in and one put the tourniquet on my daughter then started looking for a vein while my child was screaming. At that time we were told our child would need to be transported by ambulance to children's Methodist hospital. I proceeded to tell her to stop looking for a vein and I would prefer a nurse at the children's Methodist hospital to do it. The nurse stated if she didn't feel comfortable doing it she wouldn't do it and was just looking to see if she could find a vein. Well I guess she didn't feel comfortable because she didn't proceed any further. My child was acting her normal self, eating, drinking, playing, and babbling. We ask if it was medically necessary to ride in an ambulance since we had been waiting about 20 min for it and my husband could have gotten there faster then by the time it would take the ambulance to arrive. We were told she had to go but once I said they couldn't force us to go and we know our rights. They said well no we cannot force you to go but that they recommend it. So my husband put our child in the car seat and drove to the children's Methodist hospital. While on the way there we were able to count the pills that spilled in the car and were able to account for all the pills. We got to children's hospital and was told they would not be able to give medical advice on to admit her or not and since we found the pills it's up to us if we want to admit it. So we decided not to admit her and went home. That night a very rude nurse calls me from the Boerne Methodist office scolding me for not following their medical advice. The next day I get a call from the sheriff's department wanting to do a welfare check. The hospital didn't update our address we gave them at the time of check in. The dispatch office was very vague and wouldn't give me info or ask for our new address. Two days later I get a call from a very nice lady with CPS and she asked for our new address. I gave her the address and she was very shocked that the hospital would call CPS on us. She got all the info, looked around the house, and said the case would be closed that day. There was no evidence of medical neglect that the hospital accused us of. I provided all the proof that was required to show our child is happy and healthy. The hospital was so concerned for my child's safety but yet never called to check on her themselves like they are supposed to do. I called the hospital to file a complaint and I was never transferred to management only told she would look into it. She would not provide names or give me any other info. I was very upset and said some things I shouldn't have to her but When you come after my kids and spread lies about the wellbeing of my children or the way I parent that's when I will protect my family. Just remember karma will come back and get you. I just hope no other family will have to experience the same issues we had to go through. They wasted the time of the dispatch office and the CPS office when they could've been helping a child who really needed it. With that being said I will never go to that facility ever again and I will make sure to tell others! read more

September 8, I tried opening my dryer to remove clothes I had put to dry earlier in the day when I got a terrible pain in my lower back. I was able to walk to my bed and laid there for about 4 hours before my family got home. If I didn't move, I was fine. At that time I tried to get help to go to the bathroom but I could not stand without feeling a piercing pain in my lower back. This scared my husband so we called an ambulance and I asked to be taken to this ER location. The paramedics informed the nurse that I really had to go to the bathroom. This was ignored. She checked me in etc. I was given morphine and another medication via IV. I was informed that the morphine might upset my stomach so I was given a bag in case I needed it. Meanwhile the Dr. Told me he had ordered a CT scan to try to determine what was going on. The radiologist came by but then said he'd be Back for me later. So when the nurse came back in I told her that I really had to go to the restroom. She said I don't want the radiologist to come looking for you and you're not here. So I said I'd hold it longer. But I was starting to feel my stomach getting upset. So I got the scan (radiologist was the nicest person at this establishment) and the nurse came back and I told her I couldn't hold it any longer. I told her I felt like I had to go now. She asked me "so how do you want to do it?" I was surprised, "idk how can I go?" She said I could use a bed pan or go to the restroom. I told her I'd try to go to the restroom. I thought maybe the morphine had kicked in and would help with the pain. A male nurse brought a wheelchair and I tried to stand but I couldn't take the pain. I got Back on the bed. I told her I don't think I can do it. "So how are you going to do this at home? " Me, "idk how" but I still tried to stand and got on the wheelchair. She came in and helped me get on the toilet but left me there with my husband as I tried to go. I did Urinate. I did not have the bowel movement I felt like I was going to have. My husband helped me back on the wheelchair and she wheeled me back to my room. After another 20 Minutes or so the Dr. came in and said the scans showed a small disc bulge but very minimal- probably not what was causing my pain so I had to see my Dr. to get more scans etc. He sent me home with pain meds and muscle relaxants- prescription- not the actual meds. Of which I asked the male nurse if they could send the prescription to a 24 hour Walgreens instead but he said they couldn't because they had already sent in the order to my Walgreens (not 24hours). This same male nurse helped me get on the wheelchair so we could leave but I felt a bowel movement ensuing so I told him I was going to the bathroom before leaving. My husband helped me alone this time. When we came back out we were waiting for a nurse or someone to push the wheelchair out of the hospital so my husband could move his truck closer. This same male nurse saw us waiting and just told us and pointed the exit was that way. He didn't offer to help us. So my husband left me by the doors and went to get his truck. Meanwhile, I'm watching how another patient is being helped into his car by another male nurse. Nobody helped my husband help me get into his truck. On my way home, I called 25 hour Walgreens and the pharmacist told me he couldn't transfer the prescriptions here because they had not been ordered yet. We are not confrontational people so we didn't protest in person. And I've never in my life left a review but I do feel that this needs to be said. Everyone seemed very cold hearted. read more

Step outside to see what's going on and find 4 others standing outside there door complaining.... Going for a 2nd opinion. I went in tonight because I've had a fever for 15 days. I've been on antibiotics for several days for a possible UTI (blood in urine/ some sort of bacteria) so the fever should have gone away if it was from the possible UTI. Today the fever was becoming more troublesome and seemed to be going up not down. Why go to the emergency room for a fever? I know and normally I wouldnt but I recently found out about a new brain tumor, and an autoimmune liver disease, several other minor things and a 30 pound weight loss over the past year plus the major brain surgery i had two years ago (after another bad experience at this ER, don't worry I'll get to this part of my experience here in a second.) The liver thing is pretty unfamiliar territory for me. The first time my liver really acted up I came to this ER, they completely dismissed me chalking it up to a possible kidney infection and told me to come back if it got worse but it should clear up in the next few days. I told him I had previously had several kidney infections and passed several stones and I was positive it was not my kidney but he insisted. Three days later I was back and in excruciating pain. They tell me very quickly that I'm being admitted and transferred to San Antonio because of my liver. I was shocked. Then I was informed that 3 days prior they knew my liver enzymes were elevated and didn't even tell me. Come to find out my liver was really angry because I have a form of autoimmune liver disease. So the reasoning behind going in tonight: my doctor had ruled out all the easy stuff like Covid from causing the fever and since it was going up and not down and I definitely have discomfort in the same place I had it last time I was getting pretty concerned. When I got in tonight I was talking to the nurse and telling her about my fever ranging from 99.5-100.5 for 15 days when a doctor walks in and abruptly cuts me off saying "that's not a true fever" so I asked what is? to which he replied anything around 99.5 is not a fever. Well ok was a fever doc? Then he says it has to be over 100.4. Ok hold up bud? Didn't you just say my 100.5 was not a fever, follow your own rules at least. He continues on telling me that it's absolutely normal for my temp to fluctuate. At this point my husband I have fully realized that this "doctor" thinks I'm waiting his time. My husband was getting pretty frustrated and told him look it's not just showing up on a thermometer she's having major chills and body aches. He then says we'll look her vitals are all fine now and no fever he didn't even give me a chance to tell him i took advil or that i currently have intestinal bleeding (sorry for the TMI but my poo is literally black) before he said this wasn't a reason to be at the ER and sent me home with out even so much as poking my abdomen. Well of course I don't have a fever now, 2 hours earlier my coworker told me I was burning up so I took an advil and my temp which was 100.5. I can't see my regular doctor until Monday so after what happened with my liver last time I didn't want to take any chances. I don't know that it's my liver this time but I do know something is very much not right with my body right now. I've seen some doctors at this ER that are truly wonderful but y'all have way to many doctors that are too jaded to be respectable health care professionals. 2 years ago I ended up here because I lost the ability to see faces out of no where and was having trouble with my speech. They did a proper test to make sure it wasn't a heart attack or stroke and then they told me I must be having an abnormal acute migraine, this is also when they found a 2 cm mass in my brain, my husband and I were obviously concerned by the finding but we're told it was definitely not causing my problem. 2 spinal taps, multiple CTs, and a major brain surgery later (by the head of a well respected Houston Neurosurgery program) they were super wrong, thankfully after my brain surgery my eyesight fully came back and my speech impediment disappeared. If you aren't having a stroke or heart attack then your emergency is not worth their time. Dear doctor douche nugget- you could have at least come in and spoken to me like a was a person rather than an inconvenience- I now y'all are trauma doctors I know it's annoying for you to look at my chart and see that I came in a few times this year and last time was for something as inconsequential to you as asthma. I know you didn't become an ER doctor for the excitement of breathing treatments. But buddy your like so fresh out of the gate you barely have chin hair, it would have taken you the same amount of time to check my liver as it took you to lecture me and you can't possibly think you've encountered everything in the medical field that is an emergency. I really hope I caught you on an off night and this isn't how you treat all your patients read more

The staff and doctors are great! I've had to bring family members to this facility multiple times and the wait time has always been less than 2 minutes. I had to go to the ER recently and was so disappointed- the place was disgusting - the floors looked like they hadn't been cleaned in forever. The nurse couldn't even take a proper history - she lost medication and syringes - the female older Dr took forever to come in and didn't even do proper testing. By 6 am I was high agitated and was going to check myself out when the dr came in and said I could go- never went over my blood work or said what my issues possibly could have been. This ER needs to be closed - this is not an ER - it just has a bunch of mental patients and the staff incompeten! SCARY!!! read more

If you have time and a choice, go somewhere else. We have used this place several times over the past few years and it is a hit or miss. I took my father-in-law there after he fell and hurt his head (bled a lot but we had it stopped by the time we arrived at Methodist). They cleaned him up, bandaged him and scanned him (just like a clinic would. We were in and out in under 2 hours. The bill? $13,000+ I took my wife there on a Sunday evening around 7 last summer. We went there for peace of mind in order to see a doctor to confirm what I thought or diagnose something else. Never saw a doctor but got a bill from a doctor group for $850. The nurse practitioner did a very quick exam, put an I.V. in and ordered a couple of scans and after a couple of hours, sent us home. The bill? Try over $13,0000 (see a pattern?). Who spent the most time with us? The person getting the insurance information and the $100. We saw a doctor the next day at his office and he confirmed that it was nothing to worry about and it wasn't. The doctor bill? $85. I have been analyzing the itemized bills and the hospital "revised" them before sending them to me. They "discounted" the $13,000 to around $3,500 after the insurance company threw out most of their claims and said they would not cover the costs (our deductible had been met). I reviewed the doctor's bill but the one sent to me only had one code which was the equivalent charge for someone that had come in with a gunshot wound or a severed arm. Kind of overstated the truth as we walked in calmly and walked out calmly. Let's just say that there are a lot of places to go within minutes of this place even on a Sunday evening and if you want to see a doctor you will probably have a better chance someplace else. March 1, 2016 I called the 866-391-2019 number provided for billing and after several minutes of going through the menus and waiting, gave up. I have spoken with billing in the past and frankly, they are not decision makers. They are paid to collect whatever the hospital bills even when it over bills. The above review is truthful except that the charges are actually higher than stated. Being from Boerne, we tend to talk to one another and this is far from an isolated incident. I sincerely wish I could give it a wonderful review as I typically won't give out a bad review and just let the marketplace clean out the bad businesses naturally. read more

My 4 year old started having a sore throat (of course on a Saturday when all offices are closed). We live about 30 miles out of Boerne and the nearest ER was completley full. So we decided to go to this one Boy were we pleasantly surprised!!! From the time we walked in the door to the time we walked out was less than an hour We didn't even sit down in the waiting room before being called back. The doctor literally came in during triage after taking us to a room. Registration came in after triage. Rapid strep test was done within minutes and once it came back, we were discharged with instructions. Everyone was super friendly and even gave my daughter a whole page of stickers and coloring pages! It was unreal how great their service was read more

I usually have to wait about 5 hours to be seen at an emergency hospital, not at this one, as soon as I was outside the security officer helped me get in a wheelchair. They were so nice, attentive, and professional! I've never had such an amazing experience even though I was in pain and with a 10 cm nail in my footthey were so funny and great! WOW!! I just got the shock of my life. Back in September, my wife had a Vertigo incident. I went to a local urgent care, but they told me to take her to emergency room. So, off we went. She got checked in with no problem. First, let me say that the medical staff was excellent. No complaints there. But I just got the bill. The emergency room visit they billed my insurance was for 5600 dollars. 5600 dollars. After all is said and done, I'll end up paying about 3600.00. This is highway robbery. I have been strongly opposed to obamacare and universal health insurance, but this experience has left me wondering if I need to change my view. Thankfully, with some adjustments, I can pay the bill. It's going to put me in a bind for a while, but I'll be ok. I have no idea how a person on a fixed income or low income can pay these type of bills. They will go into debt for years. I took my daughter to this same emergency room a few years back because she had a racing heartbeat. They did almost the same thing and I believe my out of pocket was about 700. Silly me, I still thought 700 was too high. Now, I would gladly pay twice that. Live and learn. I've instructed my wife to let me die before I'll set foot at that place again.. Hahaha!! Just kidding. They are very professional here very polite and helpful when it comes to calming people down. I've been here many times just multiple visits for myself, my wife and both my children. It's better to go somewhere more well equipped because this is a small hospital with more limitations than major ones but when places like this are all you live next to then you have to do what you have to do. They've handled me and all of my family members well and ended up getting the job done each time. My only complaint is if you come here then plan to stay a long time. read more

This is the 2nd time we have used this facility. First I thought I was having a heart attack last year which turned out to be high blood pressure. I never saw a doctor - only a nurse and ancillary personnel. The nurse continually would ask me a question and then when I was in the middle of the answer, she would run out and come back 10 min later. The entire staff was distracted and inefficient. I, and my insurance company, received an outrageous bill for just eKG and blood tests. 2nd visit was with my husband who had a high fever and was diagnosed with sepsis. After approximately 3-1/2 hours, he was transferred to a hospital for treatment. My husband did talk to a wonderful Doctor H. here but not more than a total of 8-10 min. They did blood, tests, eKG, chest x ray. Received a statement (no detail) yesterday they billed my insurance company almost $19K. OUTRAGEOUS. The entire bill for a 3-day hospital stay where he was transferred was less than $4,800 billed to my insurance company. With exception to Dr. H., the nurse was rude and distracted and kept running in and out of the room (same nurse). There was a shift change and then another nurse came in and didn't even know what my husband was in for. I had to continually correct him and he wanted to take a rectal temp even though my husband developed the sepsis after prostate biopsy. Also they really are just a tertiary care center with no overnight facilities so if you require a hospital stay, you will need to be transferred. read more

I was told to go to Boerne Methodist ER by my doctor as I was in extreme pain and had loss of strength in my left hand. I explained what my doctor said was wrong and attitude of both nurses and doctor changed. I felt patronized and completely brushed off. I felt like they did not believe me at all. They did x-rays, told me nothing was wrong and sent me home with what they termed a severe muscle spasm in my shoulder. I had an MRI completed Monday and what I originally went in for showed up as does protruding C5-C6 discs in my neck which are pinching the nerve root to my arm that caused the loss of strength. I have not been billed for this yet, so do not know the damage not being believed and leaving undiagnosed pain will be, but positive it will astronomical. I went here with breathing difficulties during the first week of May, 2016, and received prompt and excellent care. At the time I was unaware that I had any insurance and went in as an indigent, but was treated just as courteously and thoroughly as if I were royalty. My wait was less than 5 minutes. I really like this concept of a satellite ER with direct admission from there to the Methodist Texsan Hospital in San Antonio. My experience with going directly to more urban emergency rooms is that of long waits in a more chaotic environment. In less time than I might have been seen in many city ER's, I was examined, transported, and in a bed being treated at Methodist Texsan Hospital, where I likewise received fine medical care. read more
