I went into this ER while indigent and disabled, and they refused to help me. They told me they were a stand‑alone hospital and couldn't line up the care I needed. Since I wasn't in obvious withdrawal, the doctor refused to treat me at all. I left because they did nothing for me. Then they had the audacity to bill me for "care" that never happened and sent it to collections. Completely unacceptable and predatory toward vulnerable patients.

During his stay, we observed a noticeable decline in his condition and repeatedly voiced concerns regarding his health and overall care. Despite our concerns, his condition continued to worsen, ultimately leading us to remove him from the facility and seek emergency treatment elsewhere. Upon arrival at Parkland Hospital, our father was admitted to the ICU with septic shock, respiratory failure, and other serious complications. Further testing revealed a dislodged feeding tube and a significant abdominal infection requiring emergency surgery. We understand that our father had complex medical conditions, and we recognize that not every outcome is preventable. However, the findings discovered after his transfer have left our family with serious questions about whether his condition was appropriately monitored and whether warning signs were recognized and addressed in a timely manner. We are currently pursuing formal reviews through the appropriate channels and believe families deserve transparency when entrusting a loved one to a healthcare facility. Based on our experience, we encourage families to remain actively involved in their loved one's care, ask questions, document concerns, and advocate strongly when they feel something is not right.
