I was really lucky to have found Carol. She was literally my last resort. After having my thyroid removed my body has not been the same. I have experienced weight gain and swelling on my legs. In the last quarter of 2018, for more than three weeks and a few weeks before a planned trip to Africa, I lost about 85% of my ability to taste. I could barely make out spicy from savory nor sweet from bitter. I've historically been able to find quick temporary fixes. But for this bout, all my solutions were ineffective. Before heading to Kaiser and probably getting prescribed allergy medication (I've dealt with this before) and getting extremely fatigued from the medication, I took a recommendation from a close friend and I made a visit to Carol. There was the potential of a solution without pharmaceutical grade drugs and that made me excited. The allergy meds make me extremely sleepy and I was hoping for a new solution. I filled out a series of forms and alerted the practitioners to my ailments (more on this further down the review). Carol, along with Michael, did a series of test that boggled my mind. She put random substances on my bellybutton/navel area and tested my arm strength reaction to these substances. I can't intellectually explain what was going on but I trusted my friend's recommendation and I kept an open mind about everything. This last point is extremely key for those who are indoctrinated by western medical practices. My primary object was to regain my taste buds. I also told Carol that I was having problems being able to concentrate for extended amounts of time. Based on her test, she prescribed four or five different supplements. After about four days of using the supplements, I started to regain my ability to taste. By the time I revisited Carol for a follow-up two weeks later, I had fully regained my ability to taste and my ability to concentrate had improved. My body also had another unexpected positive reaction. I had a patch of mildly irritated skin around the knee area that went away. A few years ago, I had a Kaiser doctor look at it and she prescribed some topical steroids which never worked. I never mentioned the patch of skin to Carol during my first or second visit. Dr. Carol and Michael are amazing people as well as thoughtful healers. They are both very centered with good intuitive energy. It is difficult to explain why their therapy works in Western Medical terms, though the concepts make complete sense: give the body what it needs to function correctly and heal itself. Instead of taking chemical medicines, they use food based supplements to help your body be at it's optimum. I heard about Dr. Carol through my best friend, because a year ago I became the caregiver for my older brother who went through a medical emergency due to extreme high blood pressure. He is on the autism spectrum, is high functioning and had a full time job at Toyota for 18 years. The high blood pressure was controlled but it effected his brain so that he became non communicative, incontinent, unable to care for himself. He had every medical test performed through 4 ER visits and nothing could be found. All they could tell me was that "normal" people recover from a high bp episode in about a week. But, because of my brother's autism, they had no prognosis and no solutions. He was displaying all types of abnormal behaviors. I didn't know what to do. Less then 6 months later, my brother now walks into their office without the walker, gets on the table by himself, and is able to answer their questions. It is completely non-invasive and they treat the "whole body". Personally they've helped me with the stress and anxiety I'm dealing with being the caregiver for both my brother and my 93 year old mother (and my kids!). I had spent most of my life, since my teen years, going to specialist after specialist to fix the problems I had been having with my stomach, amongst other things. This is most overdue feedback, probably because I lack the words to express how amazing meeting Carol has been for me at so many levels. I was originally introduced to Carol for "Neurofeedback" which as I have understood is to holistically trains one's brain functions. A good analogy based on my experience is like getting an effective chiropractic adjustment to straighten your posture, except this is for your brain and emotions. Neurofeedback is progressive, effective and helps or even eliminates the need to take pharmaceutical drugs for emotional imbalances. There's much I can say what this treatment has done for me and my daughter, both, but Carol's practice goes so much beyond neurofeedback as I learned. Carol is an outstanding therapist, distinctly sharp minded, and very quick to understand and see through an underlying issue. Worth noting, I tend to be on the self-aware side myself and have met many folks in this field. Carol comes across to me as sharp yet non-abrasive, compassionate and empowered, both, and a gentle truthteller who delicately says the biggest things. Her approach has been to not directly say what to do but help you light up your own road and find your way, and she does this fast and seamlessly. You come away from just one session with clarity and results and a greater sense of purpose. My experience is quite personal but I feel it should be shared. My daughter was told she has ADHD by a few psychologists and I refused to put her on drugs as they suggested. I didn't trust the process which led them to diagnosing my kid with ADHD for one thing, and then how easily they wanted to write my kid a prescription just frightened me as a mom. The psychologist/therapists threatened me to say that my daughter will fail in her studies and will not be able to build and pursue stable relationships and friendships and that she will suffer because of my decision to not place her on drugs. Contrary to the threats these therapists made, my daughter is a good student at a challenging school (she was never a bad student even before we met Carol to begin with) and she's carried her friends for many years now, proving all those doctors wrong and I am so relieved as a mom. But that's not to say it was easy because my daughter did suffer from anxiety at times and also had issues that needed to be addressed. I went to so many therapists and Carol is when I finally exhaled and knew that I had found the right person to handle our sensitive issues. She helped me to build a better relation with my kid and understand her in ways I was not previously able to and also help my daughter to get rooted, more centered and just more comfortable in life. We both shifted as result of just a few sessions. My daughter is a well-rounded teenager and, while we go through our ups and downs, I couldn't feel more fortunate for how she's turned out to be. Again, Carol's approach was gentle and swift where she managed to do what other therapists failed to do in a much longer window of time. Carol also does a holistic form of testing where she will test her clients to see what their weakest organ is and then provide supplements to support those weaknesses the body shows itself to have. The test is very telling and you see your body react and get weak when it lacks a certain nutrient. This was another rather miraculous event for me. My body does not absorb certain protein needed for my iron supply and for years now I've had to get regular transfusions. Without knowing any of the background information, Carol detected this and it kind of blew me away. The natural supplements have been so helpful that after many years this was the first time I did not need a transfusion. Even my hematologist was quite surprised himself! The testing is simple and you see it yourself how it works. Most of the supplements I took, by the way, were reduced eventually and I didn't have to take them after a few months. The iron supply is the only supplement I take now and I will likely take this permanently. I think Carol has a genuine passion to help people and that's why the various dimensions of her practice are so complimentary and work cohesively and fast. I feel beyond fortunate to have met her. Self-help is surprising, complicated, deeply rooted and beyond the understanding of oneself and many times even a professional therapist. I am so so grateful to Dr. Carol Kelson. I brought my youngest daughter with ADHD to her on the recommendation of a friend. After her first visit, I wanted to an appointment for myself and by the following week, our entire family was going for visits. We are all doing so much better. I have suffered from an Autoimmune disease for 20 years. Between the combination of Neurofeedback and the supplement and nutritional counseling, I have never felt better. Dr. Carol Kelson has made a huge difference in my life! I'm slowly coming off anti-depressants, which I've been taking for over 20 years. This is the first time in 45 years I've not felt depressed. I dreaded the holidays, and as soon as I hear trick-or-treat I'd go deeper into the depression and it continued until the weather warmed up and even after that it could be a struggle. I've actually been enjoying the holidays and this is the first time I've put up decorations and I'm listening to Christmas music before December 24th. I struggled with pressure in my bladder and no doctor could figure out why as I didn't have a UTI. Dr. Carol discovered that I had a virus in my bladder and it's completely healed and I no longer have pain! I was feeling drugged when I'd get up to go to the bathroom at night and Dr. Carol figured out I was taking too much progesterone. I was spotting and now I'm not.
