She is truly a God-sent naturopathic doctor who transformed my menopausal journey. Before seeing her, I was struggling with fatigue, mood changes, joint aches, anxiety, weight shifts, sleep issues -- all the symptoms that make you feel disconnected from your own body. Dr. Gerber took the time to listen, to test, and to truly understand what my body needed. She placed me on bioidentical hormone therapy, personalized to me, and it has completely changed my life. I saw Michelle Gerber for many years at her old location in Silverlake. She is primarily a woman-focused practitioner and I chose her for that reason. She also saw my sister and my brother's wife during her pregnancy and birth of their child. I'm mainly writing a review of her quality of care of myself and my sister when she started seeing Michelle. I never found her treatment of my condition very helpful or well informed, although she considers herself a functional or naturopathic medicine practitioner. I was not helped by her articulate, seemingly super-competent but ultimately useless assessment of both my health and the treatments and supplements she prescribed; years later I found a much better option for myself and I think back to all the time that I felt both unseen and dismissed by her for personal reasons (or maybe she treats everyone like that?) but I didn't trust her because of it. She has the emotionless quality of someone on the spectrum. I thought her treatment of my sister was overpriced and totally absurd since it required excruciating treatment of a gynecological nature and I don't think she or most western doctors have a clue about how the human body actually works. In the end, her staff also didn't bother to inform us that her office had moved and we went to the old location and waited only to find out they weren't there. I didn't bother returning. She has a practice full of pregnant or looking to get pregnant women who think she's got her finger on the pulse of alternative medicine and protocols but to my view it is basically straight western medicine with a lady meting out the same punishments of women's bodies. I started with Dr Gerber as one of my midwives at TLC midwifery and the care I received from her was so incredible we decided to continue using her office for care, both for our baby and for me (mom). She's a naturopath, but she's SO MUCH MORE. She is constantly learning and reviewing new research, making her an invaluable resource on overall health topics. She gives you all aspects of information, tells you her sources, and lets you make your own decision on care (the definition of informed consent!!!). She even understands the limits of natural remedies and can steer you towards the right allopathic ones when her professional opinion calls for it. She considers the overall health of the family, and takes a straightforward and kind approach. Her enthusiasm for her practice is infectious, I leave wanting to learn more! The office is beautiful and homey, and everyone at reception is kind too. I cannot recommend Dr.Gerber highly enough. She stays current on both Naturopathic and Allopathic care, on research, and has a knowledge base that blows me away. Dr Gerber has been my primary care physician since 2008. I feel so blessed to have found her after a prominent Beverly Hills OB/GYN told me that the only solution for relief from pain was a full hysterectomy. Dr Gerber listened patiently to me recount my experience with PCOS and Endometriosis and immediately helped me by prescribing herbs, helping me to identify nutritional and energetic culprits contributing to my dis-ease, and empowering me with positive encouragement and knowledge. All symptoms of PCOS and Endometriosis ended once I began implementing her suggestions. Over the years, I have found her to be the most exceptional physician I have ever known. While there are limits to her care because of California State Laws, there are seemingly no limits to her science-based knowledge and intuition, her compassion, or the very high quality of her care including all manner of diagnostics. In 2016, I was diagnosed (by my ENT) with a rare brain tumor called an Acoustic Neuroma. It's been almost a year of appointments with Dr. Gerber. I can honestly say that she is my personal savior. Years of not being able to be treated by medical doctors turned into years of self treatment that went no where. What I tried to cure for well over ten years, Dr. Gerber cured in two months. Without getting into any slander or libel, I was a patient of Dr Prudence Hall. I found Dr Gerber through a google search and read her reviews here. My yearly incredibly brief visits with Dr Hall (the final straw was when I was kept waiting for two hours) were producing worse and worse results. Dr. Gerber is one of the kindest, most patient, and caring individuals you will ever meet. She will make you feel heard and will take the time to explain complex biological concepts. I was grateful that she ordered certain tests and suggested potential sources of disharmony in my body that an MD wouldn't dare to comment upon, let alone know anything about. I would encourage anyone to see her if they're not getting good results with their MD. However, I feel that she prescribed far too many supplements from the get-go. A sensitive body cannot always take that amount of supplements, no matter what quality they are. She seemed puzzled that I couldn't take the dosage and amount of supplements that were initially prescribed. I find this highly interesting, because everyone I know who has sought out the care of a Naturopath or other holistic practitioner has been very sensitive. Their bodies are hurting, stressed out, not functioning optimally. Supplements may not be the same as the awful chemicals found in pharmaceutical medications, but processing them still puts a strain on the body. Ultimately, the things she recommended didn't work for me. And as time went on, I felt that she suggested more and more things that could be "wrong" (not functioning optimally) with my body's processes that I began to feel more fearful than hopeful. I felt as though I was flawed somehow and if I didn't take X, Y, Z supplement, the problem would continue. She was always very gentle and wonderful about emailing. But her approach was not the right one for me. It goes without saying that one should never expect that the experiences of others will be anything like their own, either good or bad. read more

That being said, having to look for a new doctor in Los Angeles after moving from Orange County was quite nerve-racking. I was initially very nervous never having met her before but was instantly calmed by the soothing nature of her office. I felt like I was at a spa not a doctor's office! Unfortunately I didn't have as positive final experience with Dr. Gerber. It ended up costing a lot of money since insurance didn't cover. There were a lot of gross tasting herbs and supplements that cost a fortune, were hard to maintain taking, and ultimately didn't help me. And fundamentally she was more alarmist, than holistic, in misdiagnosing hormone levels, and leading me down time consuming, and expensive paths, only to do diagnostic testing after the fact. She is otherwise, well meaning, smart, and personable, but fundamentally the care was a waste of time and money that delayed me in getting better care so my faith in naturopathic methods is shaken because of this experience. But I'm sure and know that others would benefit from her care, and the wisdom she can impart. read more

Love Dr. Michelle Gerber. She is the only naturopath pediatric doctor in LA and has been the most informational support system in my pregnancy and pre pregnancy journey. When providence women's health in Burbank refused to see me before 7 weeks and prescribe progesterone, Dr. Gerber saw me immediately, ran tests that showed my progesterone was low and prescribed me a natural form of progesterone which saved my pregnancy. I'm almost 32 weeks because of her. We just left her vaccination workshop that was extremely informative. She holds them every other month for 50$ per couple. I believe vaccines are the most important decision you will make for your child in the beginning of their life, this class was so worth it and gave me peace of mind. read more

Dr Gerber has been the most amazing doctor to me and my husband. I came to Dr Gerber because I was having health problems, including endometriosis, which I had previously had two major surgeries for. She is solely responsible for alleviating my symptoms and improving my overall health. I had been to doctors over and over who never gave me advice or ways I can prevent symptoms. She dug deep into my medical history and previous test results, and found that I had Hashimotos ( something that should have been found long ago but was overlooked). Yes, all doctors are pretty smart, but this one has them beat by a long shot. Dr. Gerber is, in a word, "brilliant". She is incredibly tender and gentle with the little ones who visit, oh, if every child could receive this type of care! Dr. Gerber is a wonderful practitioner and was able to help me work through a chronic health problem that I had been dealing with for years but could not resolve. With her guidance, the condition is totally gone. She was also a great resource to me through my pregnancy - starting with preconception through tips for newborn care. Having the luxury to sit and talk with someone as knowledgeable as she is for an hour and to pick her brain for natural remedies not to mention book and vitamin recommendations is great.
