I went to Five Star Urgent Care today when I couldn't get an appt. with my own doctor. I was pretty upset about that since I had been calling my doctor's office all day since 8:20 this morning! I called ahead just to see if it was crowded and was happy to hear it wasn't so I drove straight there. Clarissa, the very competent receptionist, took my information quickly and led me to an exam room and Jessica, the nurse, greeted me and asked my symptoms. She came right back and did an instant strep test since I said I had a sore throat. Soon Nurse Practitioner, Sarah, came in and informed me I had strep throat! She then examined me and said she would call in a prescription to the pharmacy of my choice. The whole thing was quick and painless. I found the Urgent Care very clean and attractive with exceptional personnel. I would certainly go back again. Thank you, ladies, for taking such good care of a senior lady like me! read more

My daughter went to WellNow in Plattsburgh for a UTI. They gave her an antibiotic and said" If this doesn't work, come back and we'll give you a stronger one". You're supposed to do a urine culture so you KNOW which antibiotic to prescribe. Jump forward three weeks and now she's in the ER with a kidney stone. Had to miss a trip to Italy that was planned. read more

The billing department charged my credit card without providing prior notice or statement of the account. When I called they said I had signed an autopay authorization, but refused to allow me to remove the authorization from my account. They pushed me to the patient portal, but there is no way of removing authorizations from your account there. The run-around is truly horrific customer service. Beware. read more

appointment for noon wasn't seen until an hour and 15 minutes prior. Other patients had walked in without an appointment and before me as I'm waiting and burning up in the lobby. When I was finally taken to the patient care room I then had to wait an additional 35 minutes. read more

I visited their Wellnow facilities in May of 2025. They double billed me. After four months of many phone calls, they still haven't refunded me my money. Be careful!!!!!! read more

Demand a receipt when you pay a copay at the counter or save a copy of your credit card statement showing the copay was paid. Twice in one year we received past due invoices from WellNow 6 months after a visit claiming we owed a $45 copay. We have proof via our credit card statements that the $45 copay was paid on the same day as each of the visits. Since this has happened for two different visits, we feel it is an attempt by Wellnow to extort money. Here's the text on the invoice: "Immediate Action Required. One or more or your accounts remains unpaid and our prior attempts to communicate with you have not generated a plan to resolve your past due balance of $45. If we do not hear from you, your account will be sent to a collection agency, which would put you in default and could impact your credit rating." WellNow is lying, they made no previous attempts to communicate with us by phone, text, email, or letter. The copay amount was paid in full at the time of each visit as proved by our credit card statements. We went to the local WellNow location and confirmed that they always try to collect the copay at the time of the visit and, interestingly, they do not keep accounting records at the local office so you can't get proof of payment from them 6 months later when you receive what we feel is an invoice designed to extort money. read more

Bizarre. The most apt word for it. I got there early in the morning and was third in line. We, a friend and I, were put in a tiny examining room where we stayed for an hour and a half. Shortly after we were enclosed in the room we could here yelling somewhere in the clinic. I remember saying, "Wow. Someone's not happy with their treatment." Later, it quieted down again for a short time and then again the yelling started, abated and started again. So we waited and periodically the yelling would continue. After forty minutes or so a nurse(?) came in and asked about my symptoms, history and etc. (I was there for a sore throat that hadn't gone away after a week and having had lung cancer it was worrisome.) She was blowing her nose and keeping the tissue in her hand or her lap. It fell on the floor and she picked it up and kept it in her hand again. Then she got up, put the tissue on the countertop and started getting out the vital signs equipment without washing or sanitizing her hands. When I pointed this out she became angry and said she was going to do that and she was just getting out the things she needed. When I explained about the tissue, her nose and the floor she relented and washed her hands but did not sterilize the equipment she'd handled. After getting my vitals she left and about a half hour later a little guy in scrubs came in and yelled very loudly, "My spidey senses tell me you don't feel good at all." I told him I felt great but I'd had a sore throat for a week. He yelled, "No, I know you feel awful and you don't want to eat but ..." At that point i interrupted and told him I'd just had a big breakfast. The guy ignored what I'd said and explained very loudly that I don't want to eat but I need fuel to heal. Although I was a little worried about cancer I told him I just wanted to make sure it wasn't strep throat. Apparently that was all I needed to say. So I got a strep test I didn't need, a prescription I didn't need, and a guy who think he's Patch Adams or something yelling in my face and surely leaving spit droplets in the air for me and my friend to breath after he'd been yelling at other patients and breathing in their spit droplets. (We are both in our 70's.) Your spidey senses might tell you that this place is a disaster if you have read this. Nothing like reading what someone has told you or a nurse(?) to get those spidey juices going. REALLY BIZARRE. Sorry, I didn't mean to yell but get used to it. Addendum: Who would have thought that paperwork would have been filed incorrectly with the Veterans Administration. I got a bill for the 'treatment' and had to give my Social Security number to someone in a call center in the Philipines to get it straightened out. The amount these people charge without a doctor on site is appaling enough, but they can't even have an in country call center? Never again. read more

They do not bill the insurance companies correctly and then when you try to call them to have them bill the insurance company with the correct codes they NEVER answer their phone! Meanwhile, I called the insurance company and they said they would have covered the visit completely! read more

Also, my husband was billed for the full amount of the appointment and when I called our insurance company they said they never received a bill. My husband gave them both of our insurance card numbers but they never bothered to bill either one. There customer service is terrible. read more

I have tried to contact the billing office on 2 different phone numbers multiple times, every day, for 2 1/2 weeks with no success. I have emailed 3 times, and the office has emailed for me. I had a virtual visit. I asked for a prescription for Zepbound. The Doctor stated she could not order it but maybe in a month she could. She then stated I would not be charged for the visit. They told me they don't accept my health insurance I call the carrier to find out if they do and yes they are in the network the in deed accept my health insurance but unfortunately the receptionist would not talk to the insurance carrier to verify it the receptionist got hostile towards me and argued with me that they don't but infact that do not I have to drive to Vermont to the other well now center that accepts my insurance not understanding why Plattsburgh well now don't accept my insurance I'm not the only one that has this issue you need a receptionist that will do her job and not argue with patients any other Dr would of talked to the carrier she refused to bad well center I don't recommend going here steer clear read more

This event took place back in early August. I had just spent the weekend in New Jersey, but had scraped my tailbone on the bottom of the pool, and sat on it for 5 hours straight in the car on the way back home. 2 days later I was in serious pain and had to find a place. I went here but they said they wouldn't take my insurance, I later found out they could. So I went back the next day this time having the same symptoms along with a 104.3 degree fever. It took them 45 minutes before I could get x-rayed and when the doctor came back in he said "You might jsut have COVID. A lot of people who come in here and have the tailbone pain end up just having COVID." So the next day I went back in, still experiencing tailbone pain and this time it had started to swell. So he took a look at it and said "oh yeah, you have an abscess but we can't do anything about it. We'll give you muscle relaxers, ibuprofen, and some antibiotics. You'll be fine". I live in Texas and so I got on a flight 3 days later with it STILL HURTING!!! I went to Baylor Scott and White Medical and told them everything and they didn't understand why the doctor would put me on muscle relaxers, and said that I had a Pilonidal cyst and that they COULD do something about it. So they drained it and 3 weeks later I had surgery. Very upset that this could've all happened later if this place would've just done something like they're supposed to do. I had to suffer for over a month just before I could get back to normal!!!! read more

My visit to 5 Star was definitely equal to its name! I had an acute issue to a chronic problem and they were so fast, efficient, and helpful! The nurses were great and the provider Sarah was concerned and attentive. And to have x-rays taken and looked at within a few minutes was so nice! 1 copay took care of an issue that would have taken 3 copays at my PCP! It is so convenient to have an urgent care facility in our town again that doesn't have a wait time! Go there for things that your PCP can't see you fast enough for, but would clog up the resources of the ER...like sprains, sudden pain, Workers Comp injuries, sinus infections, etc... read more

Called ahead to book a same day appointment. Got one for 2 hours later, not bad. Appointment was 345 pm. Got checked in quick and roomed. Waited till 415 to be seen by "provider" who is an NP. Learned they don't employ physicians. Took a 5 second history and palpated the problem area for less than 3 seconds and immediately ordered an X-ray for a non urgent but bothersome problem. Waited another 20 mins to get the scan where I learned that the teleradiologist would remotely read it within 30 mins. 50 minutes later I learn my X-ray is okay. Still got steroids prescribed. Went to go pick up my script and pharmacy closed at 5. It's now 7pm. Guess I'll get my rx in the morning after 830 when they open. Too bad I start work 6am and work until 6pm. Maybe they'll be have it ready before 8pm the next day. Guess I'm a still limping tomorrow after all that waiting. read more

I have never waited so long for an appointment in my life. I was waiting in the waiting room for around 15 minutes which wasn't too bad, then they called me into a room, and waited forever. I understand it is allergy season and COVID and everything but I made an appointment and it was over and hour and a half before someone even came into talk to me. I made the appointment because I had assumed I would be helped at the time of my appointment because it is an urgent care but that was most definitely not the case. I was dreading coming here because I have had a bunch of issues in the past with them, and this is the solid indication that I will never come back here. I would be helped faster at the ER. I went to Urgent Care in Plattsburgh over the weekend. I was in and out within a total of 35 minutes. I'd seen this doctor before. The place was clean, friendly, and comfortable. The reason I am deducing 2 stars is because my mom picked up my medication and was given several meds to treat bronchitis as well. She didn't know what illness I had so she took those meds, as the pharmacy urged this was what was ordered and what I needed. I had seen this doctor before for Bronchits so I imagine that was what happened? I'm not mad because I get season allergies/post nasal drip which sometimes leads to bronchitis so i might need them... but this is not the med I was in need of at the time. At least I got that medicine as well. read more

After a positive covid home test, My sister sought a send out test to confirm results. She went online at midnight and made a same day appointment for 1130 am. She spent 2.5 hours sitting in a room. The one doctor she saw scolded her for coming in, stating she could infect everyone. She was treated without decency or compassion. She followed the correct steps from the guidelines that have been set forth. The wait time was astronomical given the reason she was there. Other testing sites test in your car and do so in less than 5 minutes. If u cant show empathy or compassion, perhaps you shouldn't work in healthcare. read more

Ade an appointment because my pcp was not available and i felt like garbage. Getting an appointment was much easier than last year, that's for sure. The text that your here is confusing because they don't tell you to come inside. I did, and was brought quickly into a room. Saw the nurse quickly and the nurse practitioner shortly after. I wasn't asked about my drug allergies. Had I been I would have told them I was allergic to amoxcillin. I was not aware augmentin contained it, no wonder my doctor had never put me on it before. Now not only do I have a double ear infection (they only noted the perforated one), sinus infection and beginning of bronchitis. But now I have been puking my brains out for 3 days almost. And my mouth tastes like poison. And now I'm concerned that the other ear drum is perforated. Thanks for making sure the medication was safe for me to take. Awesome job. And thank you for noting that this review is looking pretty epic. Your company needs to have a phone number for people with this kind of issue can call directly instead of having to leave a review like this. This place charges way too much for self pay patients and takes advantage of it during this time of COVID-19. My son went there for a COVID-19 test and they charged him $230.00 (he has no health insurance). He had to have this test done in order to return to work as he was not feeling well. He then gets a bill for over $100.00 more and then another from the lab for almost $400.00. I thought the Federal government monitored such charging. It's a terrible thing not to inform your patients that they could be charged more than they were informed of what it would cost. My husband went for metal in his eye, they took his $60.00 copay and put him in a room only to tell him they don't treat for metal in the eye. Could they have told him before he wasted his time waiting there? I would not recommend this place just like I would not recommend their neighbor, Aspen Dental, both are just about getting the money and taking advantage of patients. read more

They may provide good service but this company is a bad actor in our broken healthcare system! Even if you have good insurance, they charge an exorbitant upfront fee. After it's processed by insurance they do not automatically mail you a credit for the difference, and you have to call the billing office and beg for the credit. They are earning interest off of your money in the meantime! For both of 2 separate visits, I had to call and beg for a refund. The billing office then sends a request to the corporate office and you have to wait several weeks for the proverbial check in the mail! I have never in my life met a doctor who was absolutely disrespectful and clearly dull in the head. I come in with a clear sinus infection and she tells me my nose has blue mucus? In what world does that make sense. Then she begins to tell me she doesnt want to treat me with an antibiotic because it could give me a yeast infection. Well im not sure where she did her medical study but me as a junior in highschool even knows a sinus infection when untreated can possibly spread to your brain and with my poor medical history and health i wouldnt like to take chances on that. So i tell her i really need the antibiotic and if i did get a yeast infection its better than being sick. She then yells "you want a yeast infection? Ill give you a yeast infection!" How about prescribing me Diflucan like a the real doctors do? And she walks out and slams the door like a child. Then comes back with my prescriptions and begins to tell me off that because im sixteen i think i know everything. No lady, because ive been in doctors office sick my whole life and my father was a navy nurse for 22 years and has educated me on many medical matters i think i might know a thing or two about a simple sinus infection. This doctors name was Barbara Perry. And Barbara, if you're reading this; get an ego check you dumbass. read more
