You can find a branch in every city center as well as your neighborhood commercial hub. Their employees volunteer time and financial donations to community organizations that help make Whatcom County strong. Plus, they offer two, state of the art community education meeting rooms for non-profit organizations to reserve and use for free. The meeting rooms have chairs and tables that can be setup in whatever configuration your event requires. There is a kitchen with utensils, a refrigerator and even a coffee machine. A lectern is provided, and you can even hook up your laptop to their Internet and projector for powerpoint presentations. WECU is part of the credit union network, so if you bank with a partner credit union, WECU will provide minor transactions like deposits and cash withdrawls. I'm a big fan of WECU; and whether you choose to bank with them or not, you should be too if you live in Whatcom County simply because of all the good they do to support our community.

When your account is completely wiped out by a hacker, they will tell you there is nothing they can do until all the charges clear! And then, and only then, can we dispute the charges, which will take up to a few weeks to maybe get your money back! YOUR MONEY IS NOT SAFE HERE! Especially if you are a paycheck to paycheck family, like a lot of us these days, you are risking not being able to provide groceries that week because a shitty person decided to steal your entire paycheck! You will risk not being able to purchase your prescriptions and hope to god you will be able to keep going till next payday because Banner Bank will not help you, not at all! The interest rate would be changed at that time to the new market value. We received the form letter reminding us of this and letting us know when our term matured. We chose not to make any changes figuring a competitive market rate would still be offered. I happened to check yesterday. The 4-5 month CD is at 4.88%. Our now 6 month CD is at .15%! Yes! Almost nothing and less than our savings accounts making 1.24%. We did not receive any notice that a change this extreme was in the works. We are closing out the CD today and reinvesting. This is not a reflection on the Barkley staff, but rather on the management of the bank and their lack of communication to support their customers in making vital decisions to protect their well being.
