Last night I received notice from BECU that my card had been compromised, and several charges had…read moreshown up that were suspicious. I was shocked and a bit in a panic. Ten days before Christmas and my card was cancelled. I appreciated BECU for looking out for me, but worried that it would take forever to get a functioning card. I went into the branch at 1262 State in Marysville, and had the great fortune of talking with Jay. Jay was very professional and he reassured me that 1) my monies would be protected, and 2) I would be able to have access to my account before I left the bank. And he did just that. I was so relieved. I deeply appreciate BECU Fraud Division for looking out for me, and for Jay for his excellent service.

He is one of the "rovers" with an iPad (a new guy) who greet you when you enter and asks if he can help rather than taking the tellers' time (who are never busy and appear desperately bored). Better opportunity is to visit Boeing Employees Credit Union. You do NOT have to be a Boeing Employee to have an account there. They don't charge fees for stupid things like low account balances, in person banking, etc. WSECU and other local credit unions are good as well. I also trust the credit unions more than the large banks not to go belly up in the next recession. Sure, your money is insured by the FDIC at most banks to $250,000 but do you really want to go through the hassle of potentially not being able to access your money for a couple of months while the government gets everything straightened out?

What a great experience I had today at WaFd Bank. (Yes a little confusing still because I think…read morethey are in the middle of a name change. The original company name was Washington Federal.) I went into the branch today to open a new checking account. Their checking account has some really cool features I haven't seen at other banks. With their Green checking account you get discount movie tickets, coupons for travel, a credit check service and best of all mobile phone insurance. I used to have AT&T mobile phone insurance that costs $15 a month. With WaFd Bank's green checking account I can get that for $7 a month plus all this other stuff. I had no idea, definitely a well kept secret. Anytime we can help local companies vs the large conglomerate like AT&T, sign me up. Keep up the great work WaFd Bank!

I rented a safe deposit box at the Washington Federal branch in Redmond and when I moved to Seattle I closed it two years ago by going into the branch to return my keys and sign the cancelation form. For the past two years I have received multiple bills for the safe deposit box.The first year I called the branch, which confirmed the account was closed, and they said I wouldn't receive another bill. A few weeks later, I received a late noticel. Since then I've repeatedly called the Customer Care Center and am told the account is open. When I explain the account is closed and that I need the billing situation resolved, they say that they will email the branch and follow up with me. No one has ever followed up. My last conversation with Customer Care was about a month ago and I received another bill today. If Washington Federal can't figure out how to close a simple safe deposit box, I wonder how they can be trusted with more complex financial issues? It's not a risk I'm willing to take.

I didn't find a working Banner ATM until I got to Redmond. That one was actually really nice. But by then I had been driving around for 2 hours, and wasted a ton of gas. Inexcusable in this day and age. I will happily remove this review when you have righted the situation. Please provide fully functioning ATMs at all of your branch locations.

I have banked with Mechanics Bank for over a decade, started in 2015 in California, and saw this location and was eager to come and make a deposit. Customer parking was well marked as was the entrance/exit, though I did need directing to the doors when I left the building. Entering the building, I found the deposit slips and filling out area located centrally inside the main entrance/exit. I filled out a slip and took it to the teller with my cash and identification. The teller looked up my account number and asked some clarifying questions. Turns out I was a legacy Mechanics Bank account and they were in the process of merging fully with another bank for the location by later in the month. The teller talked to other employees and called another branch to see if my deposit could be worked on, turned out it was limited access for who could perform the deposit for legacy accounts at that point in time. Another worker came back from their lunch break and started working on it. The teller was kind and made small talk and then directed me to a waiting area as the other worker figured it out. The chair I sat in while I waited was comfy. As I waited some music played on a small boombox on a table with refreshments by the chairs. Music played included a song I recognized from a movie trailer of a movie I wanted to see releasing in theaters later in the month. As the worker progressed they kept me updated, calling me in to their office when ready. As some aspects of the merger were processing, I was told there would be a delay to next day for money availability. The handwritten deposit slip was even on a HomeStreet Bank letterhead, a reminder the merger was still in process. All of the workers I interacted with were friendly and professional.

Recently had to interact due to a weekend mistake I made, which I quickly corrected on Monday. Asked for grace to have overdraft fee reversed since I haven't had an overdraft for years and I'm on a fixed income. They had to "do research" and then came back with a no hours later. This was after having to call back on Tuesday because they were too busy on Monday to even take a message without it being a complicated procedure for them. I'd move my mortgage if I could.
