Our Hosts Veda and Wilfred were friendly and very attentive to all our needs. Beautiful well-appointed rooms. Incredibly comfy beds. Charming common areas with a lovely piano to play. All modern conveniences in a comfy welcoming setting. In the morning before breakfast, coffee and or tea is left outside your room. Just a few minutes from beautiful Southold, a short distance to many vineyards and just seven miles to Orient State Park. You will be treated to an excellent home cooked breakfast prepared with love by Veda. Each day Wilfred served us a big fresh fruit salad, OJ, salad with homemade dressing, followed by a yummy filling breakfast entre. The first day the entre was the best cheese omelet I ever had and sausage with home fries. The second day the entre was corned beef hash, biscuits, plantains, both days muffins, OJ and very fresh coffee. Veda is very accommodating to dietary concerns. When we were done eating Veda came out and we enjoyed wonderful conversations with both Wilfred and Vida. They are warm, interesting, knowledgeable helpful and welcoming hosts. We will definitely return. Highly recommended

We arrived late on the Jitney, which conveniently drops you off right in front of Arbor View House, and Wilfred was there to greet us with a warm smile and genuine hospitality. The room was tidy, comfortable, and incredibly relaxing. The mattress was excellent, and we slept wonderfully throughout our stay. Each morning, coffee was ready at 8 AM, and we enjoyed wonderful conversations over Veda's delicious homemade breakfasts. The 9 AM breakfast featured a fresh fruit bowl, a beautifully dressed salad, and a flavorful entrée. On our first morning, we had chorizo, cheese eggs with biscuits; on the second, chickpea fritters and salmon cakes. Everything was so delicious that I practically finished it in one bite! Beyond the exceptional quality of the food, what truly stood out was the engaging conversation. Wilfred is incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and has the gift of gab. We loved hearing his stories and insights throughout our stay. The location is also favorable, a short distance from Greenport, and we had no trouble getting around without a car. We enjoyed meeting and chatting with the other guests and genuinely felt welcomed throughout our visit. Arbor View House made our North Fork getaway truly special, and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

With just three guest rooms and plenty of space on the first floor and on the expansive deck, we felt very comfortable throughout our stay. And Donna was a wonderful, gracious host. We had an especially good time taking her bicycles on the short ride to the nearby Kontokosta Winery and 67 Steps Beach. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Greenport!!

Forget that the rooms are more comfortable and relaxing than any other dwelling you've ever experienced -- but it should be noted that you feel instantly at home. Forget that the breakfasts are better than anything else you will eat for the rest of the year -- though it should be noted that the food is both original and familiar and you will not be able to stop eating what you're served, even if you're not hungry. (And as an aside, for those of you who come here and need many hours of recovery from eating and wine tasting and other gluttinous pursuits, Donna is not strict about the time breakfast is served. Hey, this is a B&B, not a weekend in army boot camp, okay? And while Donna is the most generous soul, you had better respect her and the time and effort she puts in to making you happy! Or else you'll hear from me! ;) ) I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH: the greatest thing about this beautifully stunning old Victorian home is its keeper, Donna. The second you meet her, you'll think you ran into one if your best friends from way back! Her sweetness and generosity and ebullience and tremendous sense of humor are all showered upon you and the only thing you'll regret is that you have to leave. But you will tell everyone you know about this place and right after you leave, you'll be thinking about coming back. Anyway, I'm writing this on the last night of our three-night Labor Day stay and while I am looking forward to eating nothing salads and celery sticks for the next week, I am sad to leave this house, which already feels like a second home. Thank you, Donna, thank you a million times!

Everything around here is small, personable and locally run -- adding to the charm of being out on the east end. Your options are a smattering of bank breaking bed and breakfasts, hard to acquire airbnb rentals, cottages by the golf course and a motel with one of the best views you've ever seen. The blue inn falls somewhere in the middle of those choices. Our room reminded me of a cozy ski lodge rental. Small kitchenette, exposed wood beams and a pleasing country decor. Rates were extremely reasonable (about $150 midweek off season). Everything was very clean and they even left us a surprisingly nice toiletry package with toothpastes, floss, makeup wipes, Q-tips etc. It's the little things like this, which I wasn't really expecting that really added a nice touch. Our stay was pleasant, however the noise level deserves a mention. There were folks staying on both sides of the room and at night I could hear bits of conversations about who knows what and both of their TVs blaring incoherently. Thankfully our neighbors weren't night owls or I would have not gotten any sleep. As for sleeping - the king size bed was cozy and mushy. I liked it but its probably to soft for most. Unfortunately, the restaurant and pool were not open but I wouldn't have minded checking both out had I been here during the summer!

The grounds and buildings are well-maintained. We had a second-floor room with steep stairs; no elevator. Breakfast is all carbs, only on weekends when we were there in mid- May; the restaurant was otherwise closed. The room has a small table with two kitchen chairs. There is no desk or comfy chair. The bathroom sink has no space to put anything by it. In our room, the toilet valve had to be manually reseated after every flush, and they couldn't fix it for the four days we were there. We might have changed rooms, but that seemed like a bigger pain.

Actually, lucky isn't a strong enough word-- blessed is more like it. Bartlett House is a sumptuously decorated restored 19th century home that felt like OUR home almost as soon as our hosts, Diane & Jack Gilmore, checked us in. We stayed in the French Room on the third floor. It is beautifully decorated with period furniture and one of the most comfortable beds it's ever been my pleasure to sleep in. The climate control in the rooms is excellent-- although the weather outside during our 5 day stay varied wildly from gale-force winds and rain to chilly drizzle and then spring-like conditions, the weather inside our room was always comfy-cozy. The bathroom has a wonderful deep soaking tub and a sunflower shower head (and GREAT water pressure! I was really surprised at that!!). Everything in our room-- even in the walk-in sized closet!--was absolutely spotless. All the linens, bed and bath, were of very high quality and for the first time in my life, I felt like there were enough towels (as well as lovely oversized terry bathrobes for each of us). But the breakfasts....well, the breakfasts are what will bring us back again next year (we are already planning another stay, a longer one next time). Jack and Diane outdo themselves every morning with a bottomless buffet of coffee, cereals, smoked salmon (my fave!), black forest ham, fresh tomatoes, breads/bagels/muffins, streusel cake, cheeses, hard- and soft-boiled eggs, fresh fruit, and Diane's incomparable breakfast quiches. The buffet is served in their beautifully decorated dining room (also on the porch if weather permits) on lovely mix-and-match china. It is, in a word, sublime. By the time we had to leave for home, we didn't want to go. Diane and Jack made us feel like family, and made Bartlett House feel like a second home to us. We simply can't wait to return.

There are many places far better than this one in the area. I recommend you look into those.
