My husband and I stayed at Harvest Inn over July 4th weekend. Stacey and Steve are wonderful hosts; they were very friendly and answered our many questions about the North Fork area. Steve had great recommendations for places to eat in Greenport and other areas nearby. The breakfasts Stacey cooked were scrumptious; I particularly enjoyed the fluffy almond croissant and the avocado toast with an egg on top. Our room was clean and cozy and the view of the woods in the back was nice. Parking was very easy. There's a common room with a good selection of board games and books to read though we didn't get a chance to use it. There's also some comfy Adirondack chairs outside in a grassy area for lounging. The inn is also within walking distance of several wineries (just be careful crossing the road) including Lenz, Raphael, and Pindar. Don't know when I'll be back in the North Fork area but I'd stay at Harvest Inn again! read more

I'm not sure I can properly express how much we love The Harvest Inn. We've booked twice and look forward to our third. I also follow them on IG and get that melancholy feeling when we're not there experiencing Stacey's breakfasts. The property is beautiful, relaxing and impeccably clean. Breakfast....oh breakfast...an amaaaaazing homemade baked goodness, health shot, yummy main and just great way to start your morning. Btw...I haven't even been eating breakfast but I throw that out the window when I visit Harvest Inn. It's too good! Beds are so comfy, water, coffee and snacks always available. My peaceful resting spot is the koi pond. The fact that's it's within walking distance of many vineyards is just a plus. If we could live here, we would. Such a lovely weekend away at this quaint bed and breakfast. Under new management, Ursula was the most gracious host. Her breakfasts were delicious (served at 9am - 2 course, family style), as was their special blend McNulty's coffee (served at 8am). The overall ambience was cozy and welcoming. We very much enjoyed meeting the other guests staying at the Inn during breakfast. Between Ursula and the other guests, our questions were answered and recommendations given for an enjoyable 2 day getaway. They have a beach pass, so def take advantage of it. The bay is close by and very tranquil. We walked to several vineyards: Pindar, Beddell, Lenz, and Raphael. Others that we visited (which were a short drive away) were Croteaux and Corey Creek. Only a 10-15 min drive into Greenport. I definitely plan on returning and recommending this place to everyone heading out to the North Fork. Favorite places nearby: Pindar - wine in a can!!! Business combined with down-time with my brother landed us here. Our reservation, and my stupid questions via email (next time I'll read the website thoroughly) were addressed promptly. On arrival, we were impressed by the breathtaking gardens, old trees, and serene fountains which surround this inn. The common rooms are handsome and spotlessly clean. Common amenities are average-to-excellent and are par for the course with a place like this. Our greeting was tepid. We weren't shown to our rooms, only told which way to turn "when you get to the top of the stairs. The fridge and drink pantry for guest use upstairs was tiny and cluttered. While told that the place refused pets (due to allergies) we were greeted by a very gregarious, hairy Golden Retriever. He was friendly enough, but ruined the blue blazer I planned on wearing at dinner/out, and the inn had no facilities to send it out for cleaning. They certainly didn't offer to have it cleaned. My bedroom, with it's own bath, was spotless and excellently appointed. The shower head spewed water onto the bathroom floor but at least there was plenty of hot water at a fine pressure. The suite's own climate-control was nice -- I didn't expect a B&B to be equipped that way. The Caswell-Massey products boasted on the website were absent; another boutique provided toilet supplies. But the Vitabath promised for the shower was there -- and reminded me that I've not bought this stuff for my own shower in a long time. The place is very quiet, however, it's not built to enhance quiet - the walls between suites failed to conceal the activities of the persons therein. This place is not for you if you like to play loud music, or have long, loud telephone conversations. I don't, so it didn't make a difference. Had my beloved been here, I'd hazard a guess that we'd both have been thrown out because my beloved is a music-lover -- at all hours of the day and night. We really wanted to love this place. One star off because the "Culinary Institute of America"- trained chef/owner wasn't inspired at all. Breakfasts were Spartan and uninteresting. Store-bought baked goods and under-ripe pears with balsamic glaze do not a breakfast make. An over-cooked egg thing was inedible. Coffee often ran out, as did creamer and supplies. The most significant disappointment was when we asked that our rooms not be made up. Bro works for a federal agency, and I brought client work, so we didn't want the help going in, for security reasons (laptops/briefcases). We thought it would save the innkeepers trouble and money. The response to our request for privacy was "that's not gonna happen." How does one respond to such a response from an innkeeper? We chose silence and came up with an alternative plan. The local police secured our laptops - a nice favor -when we presented credentials and explained the potential for a security breach. If you're in the North Fork for wine fun, go here. If you're a lush like we are, you'll get along fine with the innkeeper's wife, because, like us, she can't wait for cocktail hour. Except she was working. We were on vacation. The redeeming factor here is that the place was a great value - not cheap, but a superb value for the grace and serenity of the physical plant. Even discounting breakfast, which we had elsewhere every day. I don't know if our problem was that we just didn't feel like drinking wine all day (and then driving, drunk, as did some of our fellow guests), or that we didn't want to hear all about the second-rate wines offered at the local vineyards over and over again. Our fellow guests had, for the most part, been there before and were signed-up for activities. One of them knew who I was and despite my gentle requests (four) for privacy and anonymity, continued to inform other guests about how "woefully awkward" he found several of my media appearances. This place is pretty, it's well-located, but my experience was more like staying in the home of a tight-assed, drunk in-law than a serene, revitalizing B&B experience. read more

The new owners Stacey and Steve have an absolute gem in the Harvest Inn. The Inn has been given a complete upgrade and overhaul and the rooms are now impeccably clean, wonderfully decorated, and thoroughly charming. Stacey is a professionally trained chef, so that the breakfast, served either on the wonderful front deck or the dining room depending upon the weather, is five-star restaurant quality dining. The Inn is located right in the heart of the North Fork wine country and there are about a dozen wineries within a 5 minute drive. Further East are the towns of Southhold and Greenport, offering fine dining and casual shopping. We spent a weekend at the Harvest Inn earlier this month and I can not give enough stars for for the experience. Just an absolutely perfect stay. read more

My wife and I stayed here when Darolyn and Chris were the owners of this beautiful B&B. In 2019 we wanted to go back. We made reservations with Darolyn. I had a question so I e-mailed the B&B. Promptly I get a response. Except it wasn't from Darolyn or Chris. It was from Cristina, one of the new owners of The Harvest Inn. She told me that the inn had changed hands. My wife and I were not sure if we wanted to keep our reservations because we had such a good experience previously. We decided to keep our reservations and it was the BEST decision we've ever made! Cristina and Ursula CANNOT do enough to make sure your stay is best one yet! Ursula makes a great multi-course breakfast! We were truly spoiled in 2019. We just returned home from a visit to the inn, Ursula is still making multi-course breakfasts. However due to COVID-19 they are just large size boxes that you can take back to your room or go out to the beautiful wrap around porch and eat. I'm not a bed and breakfast guy -- normally on trips, I like to concoct my own adventure and not really interact with anyone else who's traveling (this also explains my distrust of hostels, Times Square and people wearing socks with their sandals). But from the time I first called 'til Sunday when we (sadly) checked out, staying at the Harvest Inn was a fantastic experience. The couple who run the Harvest Inn, Darolyn and Chris, are fabulous hosts and communicated quickly and responsively on email for the week or so before we were due to arrive. We'd had some snow a few days before our arrival, but they were in good communication, assuring us that all was good and we didn't need to worry about bad roads getting in the way of our trip. Darolyn also listed out an excellent set of options for dinner for both of the nights we were staying there, though there's also an option to take part in a house-wide dinner on Friday night for not a lot more money than a regular night at the inn would cost. I'd highly suggest you take them up on it, because when I tell you Chris is a phenomenal cook, I'm not joking. The house itself is fantastic -- they've been there seven years, and everything still looks fairly new and is definitely well-kept. It's a little hard to see the right entrance as you go zipping down the street, but we didn't hear anything, let alone any cars, while we were sleeping so coming from an apartment near the BQE that was a huge bonus. We stayed in the Captain's Room, with an attached bath (that's slightly awkward in terms of getting in without getting water everywhere) but other than that we had absolutely no complaints. The bed was incredibly comfortable and they even locked the door to our room (we had keys) after we had left in the morning to make sure all our stuff stayed safe. Chris cooked breakfast both mornings, and even though I'm not a breakfast person I polished off everything he made. I don't even know what the first thing we had was, but it was delicious, and his proscuitto/spinach/something else frittata on Sunday morning was amazing. They even hold a wine class on Saturday night to go over a little bit about wine and help you figure out exactly what you were tasting all day. I loved this place, and loved the surrounding wine area, and find the only thing I'd complain about was not being able to stay longer. For a quick trip out of the city for the weekend, you can't beat the Harvest Inn. read more

Upon arrival owners were intoxicated I had already got an uneasy feeling when we went inside they immediately took my credit card and ran it. I simply asked for some clarification about the price breakdown and the husband immediately attacked me screaming profanities. The wife had to pull him away from me and put him into the kitchen behind a closed door while he continued to yell profanities and racist slurs. I told the wife I no longer feel comfortable staying under the same roof as this man. She literally said "I don't either." I then wrote void on the receipt and refused to sign it. She started demanding my credit card to run it again and when I refused and started to take my bags to the door to leave she started threatening me. Overall this was the most unprofessional experience I've ever been a part of. We literally were scared for our lives when we were getting in the car and that man was still chasing us out on the porch. I was worried that he had a gun or a knife or that we would be followed. The Harvest Inn is a lovely bed and breakfast on the North Fork among some of the best wineries on the island! Upon arrival, (which was later than their normal check in time, so they were very accommodating) we were given a tour of the property and our keys, along with tons of suggestions for our stay. Breakfast each morning was exquisite! Ursula is an amazing chef and her twists on some staples were delicious! For example, we had focaccia french toast and deconstructed huevos rancheros during our stay. All ingredients used are locally sourced! Ursula would tell us exactly where everything came from. Location wise, it is at the center of everything. There were many wineries within walking distance and Greenport is a short ride away. Excellent food options all along the Main Road as well! I almost hate to write this review, because when people realize how wonderful this inn is, I will never be able to get a reservation again. I could not ask for a more pleasant place to visit. The rooms are spotlessly clean, very well appointed, and comforable. The house is large and quiet, and welcoming. The grounds are meticulously maintained. Bathrooms are private, clean, and provide everything a guest could need. In fact, the theme here is that everything is provided that you could need. The owners are friendly but not overbearing. There is information about the area and plenty of recommendations. My wife said the exquisite bedsheets made her feel like a princess. My biggest concern is that the standard has been set so high at the Harvest Inn that other B&Bs will just not compare :) read more

So we had a last minute trip to Long Island and were lucky enough to snag a room here after a cancellation. The location is perfect for north fork wine tasting. Centrally located and right in the middle of the action. What stood out the most was the room and house. When I say impeccably kept I mean impeccably kept. I have never stayed in a cleaner more cozy place so kudos to the owners it seriously felt like home. The food is also great as Christopher is a professional chef and he and his wife Darolyn know their stuff. They were spot on with recommendations and know their wine. This place has become an exciting staple to our year. We just booked our third trip down there and we can't say enough positive things! After reading some reviews that were not so nice, I couldn't help but think it was a competitor trying to down play them (haha). I have had nothing but a wonderful time there. It's great cause you have the knowledge of a local host, a culinary chef, and an area to disconnect. Also, their style is great because they help you find what you like, but let you enjoy your time. It was BY FAR EXTREMELY WORTH IT ! Chris and Darolun the owners greeted us and treated us like family. Very warm people. Loved them ! The suggestions they made for dinner and made the reservations for us each night. I can go on and on. The house IMPECCABLE!! Beautifully kept clean crisp just beautiful !! We had the biggest room in the house with the fire place and the sunset would come up early morning. Chris the awesome chef and owner cooked an awesome breakfast each morning -we ate it all !! It is such a special place not only because of its placement in the region and the beauty of the property, but really because of the hospitality that Darolyn and Chris offer. Unfortunately, this place has left a bad taste in my mouth. Not so much the appearance, but the inn keepers vibe was not so inviting. The first time we stayed there, a few years back, we were so delighted. This time not so good. We were told there would be a wine tasting at the b&b, and it never happened. Breakfast, which is included, was suppose to be 3 coarse, it never was. Lastly, the inn keeper Darolyn was completely out of line, and very unprofessional. We decided to enjoy the porch one night, to celebrate our anniversary, with a cigar. We didn't see any ashtrays available to us,so we decided to ash in a plastic cup. Instead of bringing in a smelly cigar into the home, we left it out on the porch, so we could dispose it in the morning. The next day, Intoxicated Darolyn, approached my husband with yelling, cursing, completely disrespectful, and very aggressive manner. Slamming doors,, and dropping the F bomb as if nothing. Not to mention, she disturbed all of her other guests. Well, now we still had our last night to stay. We felt extremely uncomfortable, and mistreated. I think that if there is something they don't want your guests to do, it should be mentioned immediately. Things should be handled in a professional manner, not like some drunken trash. This was my 2nd experience staying at a B&B and this was the worst. When arriving your greeted nicely but then when the owner has one to many glasses of wine she becomes hostzilla while her husband stands beside her watching her yell, curse and chastise her guest. My husband and I went to the Harvest Inn last month using a gift certificate from a family member.. We also had reservations at a nearby restaurant for dinner. Upon arrival we were greeted cordially but it went downhill from there My husband brought in our bags and as he was climbing the stairs Darolyn, the owner accused him of scratching her walls with his suitcase and she became quite agitated. We saw no scratches. We went to dinner and returned at 8:50 p.m. The front door was unlocked and we proceeded to our room. We tried to unlock our room door with both of the keys she had given us,one for the front door and one for the room but with no success. No one appeared to be around so I called on my cell phone and left a message. No one picked up. My husband then went downstairs and knocked on the kitchen door. No answer. At that point Darolyn came storming out of one of the bedrooms which must have been hers although we had no way of knowing that ahead of time. She slammed the door screaming in my face that she had been asleep for 4 hours! That would mean she went to bed at 5 pm. She shouted to me ,"Where is your husband?" I told her he went downstairs looking for someone to help us get in our room. I actually apologized for disturbing her. When my husband came up she grabbed the keys and tried to open our door but with no success. She then stomped down the stairs ranting about getting another key. No apology just more ranting about how this was such an inconvenience . After opening our door with a new key she stomped to her room and slammed the door behind her. We felt it was unsafe to stay, we took our things and left. We had neither bed nor breakfast. We did not ask for a refund. We are still trying to understand what she was so angry about. The next day I emailed the Inn to explain why we left . Darolyn has emailed back many times mostly to say all of this was our fault . She even threatened to call the restaurant to find out what we were drinking that night! Needless to say this was a very disturbing experience. My husband and I have traveled all over the world and have wonderful positive memories of the places we have stayed. This experience was truly upsetting and quite bizarre! q read more

I cannot say enough positive things about this bucolic little hideaway right in the heart of the North Fork (and all it's wonderful wineries, to boot!) The owners, Chris and Darolyn, run a gorgeous B&B with the precision of the Four Seasons and the warmth and charm of a mom & pop store. They are beyond accommodating - winery recommendations, dinner reservations, local events - whatever it is, they've got you covered. They also seem to know EVERYONE in the NoFo, so wherever they send you, you'll be well cared for. Chris's daily breakfast is always delicious, and don't miss his wine class, either! You either are a B&B type of person, or you're not. I'll admit that I am most certainly not a B&B type of person, so take my review with a grain of salt. My husband and I wanted to spend Memorial Day weekend at the vineyards and we'd never stayed at a B&B so we took a risk and booked the Cottage Room last minute. While Darolyn was a lovely host, I'd say this experience was just so-so. The home was clean and very well kept. But for $250 a night, I'd hope for a few extras. After all, we're staying in wine country - maybe a bottle of wine on the table in the evening? (there were wine GLASSES laid out - why??) We'd read a lot of reviews of people raving about the breakfast, and since we paid so much for the room and breakfast was included, we decided to stay for it. It was nothing special. An under-ripe cantaloupe, some pancakes, and packaged bacon. Definitely not worth 45 minutes of uncomfortable chit chat with the other guests. It would have been nice for there to be some muffins or bagels for guests to grab and go. And again, a mimosa would have been a nice touch! read more

I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. It reminds me of a serial-killer horror house movie. On the way to the house the owners were pressuring us to hurry because they had an "event" with no empathy to our full day commute to get there. When we arrived they immediately ran our credit card and when the amount seemed high we simply asked for a breakdown in the price--a reasonable request--when the owner went ballistic on us and started yelling profanities at us. We then stated we do not feel welcome here and wrote "void" on the receipt and they basically chased us out the door yelling "GIVE ME YOUR CREDIT CARD." They also threatened us stating "wait till I tell ____" (couldnt make out the name) basically we ran to our car as fast as we could and the man ran out the porch after us. We thought he could have a gun or knife so we sped off. The room wasnt even that nice it was small and smelled like mold. I am a learned physician and have never been treated like this before by anyone. I gave them a chance to apologize for their behavior and yelling profanities at my girlfriend, but they said "oh he was talking to his daughter" when clearly he was swearing at her in front of me. Inexcusable. No way for an old man to speak to a woman. Zero class and zero manners. read more

My husband and I stay at a bed and breakfast at least once a year and I have to say, this was one of our favorites. Not only did the owners go above and beyond to accommodate us during our stay, but they were genuinely interested in our well being. They set up dinner reservations for us and bikes for the day on Saturday and everywhere we went, the wineries and restaurants had nothing but nice things to say about our hosts. The house was well kept, rooms were very clean and the breakfast was delicious. I find it interesting that another person wrote in their review that there should have been a tv somewhere. I have yet to stay at a B&B that has a tv and frankly, I think I would be disappointed if I did. We stayed in the suite with the fireplace and Jacuzzi tub and think a tv would have ruined the experience and since there were so many things to do and see, it was impossible to stay in the room for more than an hour or two at a time anyhow. I would highly recommend this b and b if you are looking for a place to stay that feels homey and inviting. We will definitely be heading back to stay with them later this year and are planning on bringing friends the next time around! read more
